A preacher and a soap-maker were walking along a path. The soap-maker turns to the preacher and asks him "What good is religion? All the violence and corruption in the world and you just go on preaching about goodness and righteousness. What good is it if it isn't stopping it all?" The preacher looks at him and says nothing. The two of them kept walking, they see a young child playing in a dirty gutter. The preacher looks to the soap-maker and says "What good is soap? The children play in gutters and in the dirt. Look at that child, he's filthy." The soap-maker, defending his trade, says "But preacher, the soap won't do no good if you don't use it!" The preacher looks at him and says "Exactly...exactly."
