This is something I wrote about some white pride issue and how caucasians can't be proud to be white or we'll be considered racist, so here's my comment:
The whole situation sucks with who's who and what's what, but what it really boils down to is, this is 2008, the slave days are over, none of the black americans alive in 2008 have been affected by the slave days and if we really want to get deep into the subject, none of this would probably have happened if the northern europe and spain wouldn't have been so effen lazy and did their bitch work themselves instead of selling african's all over the world, back in the 1500's. They are the ones to blame, they are the ones who made this history exporting them to the New World. But even before the African's were slaves, the Jews and Indian's (from India), were slaves and I don't see them making a big stink out of it. Life is way to short to start making a big deal over others pride issues. Just because I'm proud to be a caucasian woman, doesn't mean I have to tell everyone. And since we're on the subject of race, we are all Americans last I checked. So, the Mexican American, Asian American, African American shit needs to stop. If you so feel the need to claim other countries, maybe you should move there! My heritage is German, I don't call myself German American. By segregating your race as __________ American, it's what's still causing arguments and diversity awareness. We are the people! And the more races stop using deoragatory racial names against one another, maybe, just maybe everyone will start acting civilized and humane! And then maybe the name calling and racial awareness will stop and holidays along with scholarships wont be such a big deal, because yes, colored americans were shackled and put to shame, treated like animals. But are they today? Should they be treated any differently for something that ended in 1865??? I think not, but should it be noted for holidays and recognition, yes. Just like 4th of July and Memorial day. It's recoginition of history and lives lost. This is something that will probably never go away until we stop this and just accept some people have to deal with things they way they do and move on with our lives. I'm very thankful to God that Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks stood up, they needed to, what took them so long. They did what I would've done if I was in they era and black. It was the right thing to do. Although I'm caucasian, I do know what it's like to be racially profiled and it sucks. The more people start helping themselves and doing right by our country, I truly believe race will no longer be an issue. God Bless!
ps I'm proud to be an American!
