It may be a part of their diet, but the whole point of the joke (which it is stupid that I have to explain this to you) is the 3 things the panda did. The panda had dinner with the prostitute (eats), the panda had sex with the prostitute (shoots), and the panda was leaving (and leaves). The whole joke is a play on words. Not facts about what a panda is or eats. Re-read the joke and it may make sense to you.
