Virginia Tech

Tragedy Created on 4-23-07 Views(266) Story Rating G

30 people die in Virginia Tech, and everywhere, all I see is VT ribbons, and other shit, and I find it to be very depressing.

200,000 people die in a tsunami in Indonesia and nobody gives a rats ass.

30 die because of a crazed gunman, and people all over the nation are sympathetic.

Drop the double standard.

Shit like this happens every day in Iraq, and all you do is buy car magnets that say "Support the Troops".

Instead of pretending to care about something just because it happens in your nation, at least feel sympathetic for all the world's tragedies and not just ones that happen in your home country.

Ponder this...if 9/11 happened in Toronto, would you give a shit?

zachhicks77 and also to prove a point...because my approximation of 30 wasnt good enough for you..theyre were technically 33 who died not 32...your not counting the killer himself, whose problems far surpassed mine yet he dealt with it in a horrible fashion..so YOU get your fucking facts straight..and if you say he wasnt a victim, then sure, he isnt a victim in the same way the 32 he killed were...but hes a victim or verbal abuse from his peers among other problems..a problem that ended with a massacre of said peers.

zachhicks77 i would also like to say thank you for validating my point as to how people only care when it concerns them...

zachhicks77 comments are called generalizations because scarcely does a comment or a phrase apply to everyone, but to a greater majority...so if your expecting me to feel bad because your loved ones are in iraq, then think again, instead all i will say is your point is valid and falls outside said generalization..and as for a school shooting hitting home like a tsunami couldnt? the point was to be made that masses of people die all the time..its no coincidence that noone still mentions the tsunami because it wasnt in the US...we had a hurricane here and hit just as hard...but everyone cared then, but not when people die in a tsunami because theyre asian..

You know, you yourself are being quite insensitive. Plenty of americans feel for and have helped others in bad situations around the world. We donate time and money to such organizations for this. Did you ever think that this shooting got so much press because, unlike a sunami, a school shooting hits home with everyone, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and especially students. You neverknow if this could happen to you and it makes people so much more empathetic to the situation. I know I myself prayed for the victims families and friends. I know myself i feel just a little bit less safe everyday i walk onto that campus. And i know myself that you are trying to make a good point, but went about it in a totally horrible manor. Oh, and for the support the troops, i've already lost someone in iraq, and i have 2 close friends there, a cousin, and an uncle. I dont have a magnet on my car that says support the troups. But i did have a virginia tech ribbon on my website in honor of the victims. Does that mean i dont support my troops because i didnt buy a magnent to show everyone? no, i send care packages to the troops, they know i support them and thats what matters. And before i am done, just would like you to know there were 32, not 30 victims. so you should really know what you are talking about before you open your mouth and insert foot.

zachhicks77 "Lastly, in your cute attempt to sound morally superior...".. 2 things bother me about this statement...1) nowhere in that did i try to be morally superior...nor did i ever say anything offensive about people dying. I am however trying to make the point that the whole thing is overdone in comparison to other things. 2) im not morally superior at all...i think the tsunami was hilarious, i love making fun of old people, and i dont like intellectual FAGGOTS like you trying to look into something furthur than it should be looked into. ill be the first one to tell you im not morally superior..and also the first to say that our a faggot

Kayla61094 I agree so much.Sameway with Anna Nicole Smith.Shes on my news for a month. and if some solider dies in Iraq.all the news says is.3 soilders died in Iraq or some shit like that.I really support the troops, and I feel bad for the VT students and their family. But they're over playing the whole situation. Its happened like a week and a half ago.More the fuck on.I don't mean that mean. But for the sake of the families of the victims they should stop showing all that shit.It brings back memories that some people might wanna forget.

CNN could have told me this. Why do you have such rage against anyone who sympathizes with the grievers of atrocities that occur in America? In China, you couldn't even make a bullshit statement like the one you did. You think Americans are numb to shit that happens anywhere else in the world? How about the bombings in London, the aid America officially sent, (and countless altruist American companies + organizations) to the Tsunami victims? I have friends who pay for their own college yet still found a way to fork over $100 that they didn't have to the Tsunami victims. You can thank the New Orleans beaurocracy on the Katrina fuckup. They had a thousand page evacuation manuel that outlined how to handle situations like this. They ignored it. They also mishandled funds appropriated for levy forifications. the blame does not lie within the administration, retard. Lastly, in your cute attempt to sound morally superior- you insinuate that Americans wouldn't care if 9/11 happened in Toronto. It seems pretty obvious to me, that you yourself do not give a shit- and in your own guilt, you project your deficiencies on the American public as a whole. All because YOU don't give a shit, or are at the most, nearly impartial, does not mean we feel the same way you do. What are you doing to help the Iraqi people, the Katrina and Tsunami victims, that's above and beyond what anyone else in this country is doing?
