Secret Desires 3
|
“Hey, you ok?” Adrienne asked Hailie the next morning. They were at a nearby coffee shop, Andres Café, and Hailie hadn’t taken a bite out of her cinnamon roll.
“Yea, I’m fine. Just a headache.” Hailie told her.
“Ok, good. Cause normally you finish those cinnamon rolls in less than forty seconds.” she laughed. But stopped when she saw her friend looking out the window looking down and shallow. “Aye, girl what’s wrong?”
Hailie looked at her confused. “Huh?”
“What’s wrong?” Adrienne repeated.
Could Hailie tell Adrienne what happened last night? That she got completely drunk with someone she hardly knew. That she couldn’t remember a thing that happened and wondered if she made a fool out of herself?
“Nothing.” Hailie told her. “Just still a little upset about Carl, you know?”
“Oh,” Adrienne said relieved. “Well, don’t worry okay? He’ll get around.”
“Yea, hopefully. I mean, why Alicia?” she asked. “She’s such a slut! I bet you she found out that I liked him and just went for him just to make me mad.”
“Well, she’s done that before. Why should this time be any different?”
“What bugs me is that Carl is actually falling for it.”
Right then, Carl walked through the doors of the café. Hailie’s eyes widened as she caught Carl’s gaze.
“Oh shit! He’s coming this way!” she whispered to Adrienne. “What do I do?”
“Um, just act normal. Like we weren’t even talking bout him.”
Hailie nodded and took her first bite out of her cinnamon roll.
“Hey chicas! What’s up?!” he gave Hailie his warm smile that gave her giant butterflies. His medium length black hair was slightly messy, and his genuine brown eyes shimmered as a ray of sunlight reflected on them.
“Hey Carlos.” Adrienne smiled. “Nice seeing you here.”
“Yea,” he said. “I applied for a job here last night. I’m starting tomorrow but dropped by today to get some tip from Raul.”
The girls nodded as if they were interested. Raul was one of the busboys here at the café. They were all great friends with Raul so they always managed to get discounts from him when he managed the cash register.
“Well then I guess we’ll be seeing a lot of you for then next few months, since this is our favorite spot.” Adrienne gestured toward Hailie. “Ok, well I have to go. Mom needs me to baby-sit Carmen so I’ll just call you tonight, ok Hailie?”
“Ok,” Hailie told her. “I’ll be waiting.”
Adrienne got out from her seat and walked quickly out the door. Giving Hailie a thumbs up and a smile before exiting the door.
“Why not so much talk?” Carl asked Hailie before taking his seat across from her.
“Um, no reason. Just got a lot on my mind.” Hailie smiled sweetly.
Carl smiled back. “Well, I just wanted to say that I didn’t mean anything by being with Alicia the other day.”
Hailie gave him a confused look. As if she didn’t know what he was talking about.
“I know you saw us.” Carl said. “But I don’t like her that way, I promise.”
“And why are you telling me this?” Hailie asked.
He sighed. Then smiled and said, “Cause it matters.”
Hailie looked down and tried to hide her already red cheeks. “And why is that?” she teased.
Carl laughed. “Stick around and you’ll find out.”
Hailie smiled at him. Feeling her cheeks burn with every second that passed by.
“Aye, Carl! Lets go!” Raul yelled from the counter.
“Well I’ll just see you later.” Carl said as he ran towards Raul. Hailie smiled at herself and paid the money she owed as well as Adrienne’s. Then got up and headed home.
Once Hailie got home she went up to her room and took and hour long shower. She let the hot water burn against her skin. It never bothered her. It would actually take her pain away.
Then she got dressed and pulled her hair up into a messy bun. She had no homework to catch up on and she had to lines to rehearse since the next school play wasn’t until late spring. So she logged onto her messenger to check her mail.
She had four from Adrienne, asking how things went with her and Carl after the left them at the café. One from Brittany, saying that she couldn’t wait till the spring play and another from an email address she didn’t recognize. She opened up the message and saw that the email address was Brads. She immediately shot up with joy. Maybe he had some information on her photo shoot.

Hailie read over the message two more times. Love? she questioned. He hardly knew her and he was already using the word love? She shook her head and clicked on the link that he sent her. It took a while for all the photos to load but once it was done, Hailie’s eyes got huge. Probably so huge that they were out of their sockets.
Hailie gasped and took a second to breathe. Pictures! Tons of them! Of her! Hailie took deep breaths, before looking up at the screen again. She was wearing a purple see-through bikini and was posing in ways she never thought she would. She rushed to her purse on her bed and pulled out the card he gave her and quickly dialed his number.
When he finally picked up Hailie practically yelled. “Please tell me that you’re not actually gunna let those pictures go public?!”
“Hey, sweet heart!! Calm down! I thought you would like the pictures, they are very nice shots.” he said coolly. As if there was nothing to worry about.
“I hate them. How could you have gotten me drunk just to take advantage of me?!!” she yelled. “Delete those pictures! Now!”
“No can do babe.” he said.
“What do you mean you cant!? You’re photography director! You can do anything with those pictures?!”
“You should have known better than to mess with a company of which you didn’t know of. I gave you the offer, but I didn’t make you take it.”
Hailie thought about it. She did make the mistake he pointed out. “Just please take them off.” she pleaded.
“Oh, I’ll take them off… But in exchange for something else.” he paused.
Hailie waited as a tear slid down her cheek. “What do you want?” she asked silently.
“I’ll take the pictures off and delete every single memory of them, if you pose nude for me.” he said seductively.
Hailie’s eyebrows crinkled. “What?! No! What are you, some kind of freak?!”
“Hey! Say what you want, but I have those pictures… And I can do whatever I want with them. I could send them to all of your friends. Post them up on websites, billboards…”
“No!” she exclaimed. “Don’t do that please!”
“Then you have no choice but to do as I say…”
“Can we just… talk this over, or something?” she pleaded.
“It’s all or nothing, Hailie. You decide.”
Hailie took a deep breath as another tear slid from her eye. “Okay,” she said. “I’ll…I’ll do it.”
“That’s my girl.” Brad said.
“But, these pictures are just gunna be between us, right?”
“Right.”
“Ok, fine. I’m in.”
