Secret Desires 1
|
“You did great last night Hailie!” Brittany exclaimed as she passed the beauty in the halls.
Hailie smiled at the girl. “Thanks Brit. You did good too.”
“Yea, but not as great as you.” Hailie couldn’t help but smile as the young girl complimented her as she did every single day. “I swear, I wouldn’t be surprised if you ended up on Broadway or something.”
“Oh c’mon Brit. I’m not that talented.”
“How can you say that? You’re the greatest actress I know…”
“Hailie,” Adrienne interrupted. “We need to get going if you want to get a good dress for formal.”
“Um, yea that’s right.” Hailie said. “See you later, Brittany.”
Hailie and her best friend, Adrienne, walked down the halls to the entry way. “Thanks for saving me.” Hailie sighed.
Adrienne laughed. “Don’t sweat, chica. Brittany can be a pain.”
Sometimes Hailie wished she could be more like her best friend. Sometimes, she even wishes she could be as pretty as her. Adrienne had long thin brown hair that was probably the softest ever. Her round brown eyes gave her the look of perfection and her Spanish accent just gave her appearance a finishing tip.
“She thinks I’ll end up on Broadway. That’s crazy, right.”
“Who would blame her? You’re a talented actress. Any critic would be blind not to see that.”
Hailie smiled. She was glad to have a great friend like Adrienne. She could always reassure Hailie about her goals when no one else would- except for Brittany.
“You guys ready?” Another friend asked as they approached the entry way.
“Yea, lets go Yesenia.” Hailie told her.
The walked across the parking lot until something caught Hailie’s eye. “God, por favor, tell me that I’m not seeing what I think I see.”
Adrienne and Yesenia stopped and looked to see what Hailie was talking about. Across the parking lot was Hailie’s crush, Carl, flirting with her ex-friend, Alicia.
“Damn. That girl must have a lot of nerve.” Yesenia said as she eyed the two, disgusted.
“C’mon girl.” Adrienne told Hailie. “We have places to be.”
They continued walking towards Yesenia’s car.
“Am I unappealing or something? What makes Carl like Alicia but not me?” Hailie asked as they drove through the busy traffic to the mall.
“Are you kidding me?” Adrienne yelped. “I think Carl is on drugs or something cause seriously, a guy like him doesn’t belong with a slut like Alicia. Hailie, you’re beautiful. You’re like the better clone of Paula DeAnda.”
Hailie smiled. She felt a little better and hopefully she would feel much better after she was done with shopping.
Hailie got home at around eight. She walked into the familiar, lighted house. Her dad was an architect and built their house. It was big and Mediterranean style. Her dad was big on the idea and because her mom loved the color gold, so they’re house was always filled with dimmed lights and vanilla candles.
She walked into the living room to see her mom on the phone looking incredibly busy. So Hailie didn’t even bother to say hi, she just walked up the stairs to her room.
She sighed and collapsed onto her bed. Then out of nowhere, her cell phone vibrated. Hailie rolled over to check the caller ID, which read Adrienne.
“Hey.” she picked up.
“What are you doing tonight?”
“Adrienne, we just got back from the mall.”
“I know, but I’m extremely bored. Besides, I’m feeling exotic right now.”
Hailie laughed. “When are you not?”
“Lets go! We need to have some fun.”
“Well, my mom wont mind. I don’t even think she’ll notice.”
“So you in?”
Hailie thought twice. It would be wrong to leave this late. Her parents had strict rules but it would hurt if they didn’t know, right?
“Yea, I’m in.”
