Chapter 12
I perceived that we came to a stop, but was unsure of what part of Las Vegas we were at. It felt like we were driving for ever though.
“Where are we?” I said, hesitantly.
“Hang on. We should be arriving to our destination in a few seconds.” Travis clarified.
I sat and waited patiently as we approached a real speedway. The sign read Fast Kart Speedway.
“Are you serious?” I was stunned. “And we are here why?”
“You know, I can turn right back around if you don’t want to come here. Jesse and I always had fun here when we were younger. Ain’t that right Jesse?” Travis stated, looking back at Jesse.
“Oh yeah. At least it was fun when we were younger.” Jesse smirked.
Travis somehow managed to hit him on the arm to cut it out. “Ha-ha, very funny.” Travis replied.
He pulled up in a parking space in the middle of no where, because there were no cars anywhere where we parked.
“And why are we parked out in the middle of know where?” I asked, sarcastically.
“Ok, enough of the complaining already.” He laughed, along with everyone else in the car.
We all got out of the car, acting like kids again. Pushing each other out of the way, just laughing at nothing like morons is more like it.
Once we got inside, Tanner and I just couldn’t believe what we were seeing, since we haven’t been there before in our lives. There were two indoor tracks, one oval and one road course, side-by-side competition and OVER 2000 FEET of track.
“Holy crap!” we both said at the same time.
Travis and Jesse let out a snicker. “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet,” Jesse said. “Race you guys to the line!”
Jesse started running over in line, so he got a head start.
“Hey no fair! Wait for me!” I hollered.
I ran after Jesse as Tanner and Travis came rushing behind me. When we reached the line I ran into Jesse than it was like a domino affect as Travis and Tanner piled onto of us. I laughed so hard that I started snorting like a pig. All I could say is it was hilarious and we had a great time.
***************
After like two hours of amazing fun, we grabbed some lunch at In and Out Burger.
“Man, this stuff is the shit.” Tanner said.
“If it was the shit, wouldn’t that taste awful?” I replied.
“How would you know? Did you ever try it?” Travis retorted.
I looked at him like an idiot, then him and I just bust out laughing as Jesse and Tanner looked at us, shaking their heads.
“There you guys are!” said our producer, or what I like to call him, Mr. Hotshot, John Fillmore.
“Hey John,” Jesse said, giving the man a low-five and a pat on the back. Travis did the same thing. John just came over and gave me a peck on the cheek.
“And who’s this?” John reacted, referring to Tanner.
“John, this is my boyfriend, Tanner.” I answered.
“I didn’t expect you to be bringing anyone else along with you on the trip.” He retorted.
“It was kind of a sudden thing.” I told him.
“Sorry,” Tanner mumbled.
John didn’t say anything to Tanner. John was always disagreeable by his body language. It just made me want to slug him across the head. Sometimes, I wish we never would have even started this whole thing with him, but if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have been in Vegas. Our band would still be a small town fling.
“So are you guys ready for Friday night?” John solicited.
I had completely forgotten that it was on a Friday. I didn’t even know what the day was.
“Wait, so it’s on Friday?” Travis snapped.
“Yeah, where have you been?” he replied.
Jesse looked over at me a Travis, then back at John. “You never told us the day; you just told us it was going to in a week.” Jesse stated.
“Did I say that? Sorry, my bad.” He stated. “Well, you have two full days to practice anyway.”
John didn’t stay any longer. I could tell he was just being bothered talking to us. Jerk. He must have already eaten, because he walked right out the door.
“You mean to tell me that today is Tuesday?” I said. “Where did the time go?”
“I don’t know, but we really need to get practicing then.” Jesse confirmed.
“But where? The hotel isn’t going to let you three practice up in the hotel room.” Tanner declared.
“He’s got a point.” I responded.
“I don’t know, but we are going to need to practice ASAP if we want to sound good Friday night.” Travis insisted.
