I began to grow tense as Devin walked closer to me. I was worried about what he was going to say to me, but part of me inside wasn't too sure it was going to be nice.

"Were you the one that started the rumor about me going to the dance with you?" he asked, but I could tell he was pissed off.

I didn't want to lie to him, but if I told him I did, I knew he would be even more made at me then he already was.

"No. I don't even know what you're talking about." I fibbed.

"Damn it!" He swore, banging his fists on my desk. He was fumed. I didn't want him to be mad, but I wasn't going to tell him that I was the one that started the rumor. Then it would go back around the school and everyone would know that I said that stuff that wasn't true. I was left in silence as Mrs. Hossler came into the room to start class.

After school and I was on the bus, I was sitting next to Miranda, when I got a tap on the shoulder. I knew exactly who it was, cause I was 100% sure that she was the one that blabbed her mouth about the rumor I spread.

"Hey, I told Devin about you and him going to the dance and he said that you two weren't going together." Tiffany started. "The way he said it, made him sound like an ass."

I didn't say anything else to her. I turned around and just rolled my eyes. Tiffany is a blabber-mouth. She always gets into everyone's business. She assumes that I'm her friend, but really she's not. One day, she stopped by my mom's work, just to tell her that she's one of my friends and she wanted to meet her. God, she is soooo annoying.

"Wait, that was just a lie." Miranda questioned. I nodded.

"No, it was a rumor." I replied, not saying anything about me starting it.

"He's cute, but he's a jerk," she retorted.

Of course no one had any idea that Devin wasn't the one that rumored it. It made me feel like a bad person. I always make mistakes in life. What else could go wrong? I thought. Well, that's when I spoke a little too soon, because a lot had happened.
