Chapter 25

I hold my arms out for Jason to hug me. He leans down and gives me a little squeeze, but it makes me flinch. He let go off me and slightly smiles.

"Sorry," he apologizes.

"No, it's ok. I'm fine, really." I reply.

He sits down in the wooden, green-cushioned chair that was on the right side of my bed. The doctor that Jason had yelled for never comes in. It's nice to know that they don't give a damn about me if I lived or not.

Just as I was starting to relax, the unforgivable came in. I sit there in my bed, looking at them. They walk in with smiles on there faces, but I was the only one that didn't.

“How are you feeling?” Ryan asks. I didn’t answer, with a grin on my face.

“Sweetie, what wrong?” Brittany questions.

“Maybe, we came at the wrong time.” my so called ’Dad,’ states.

“Oh no, you are perfectly fine, please have a seat.” I reply, not sounding very cheerful at all.

Of course, I didn’t want them to be here with me after what those backstabbing people did to me for not telling me I had other parents. I want to literally kill them right now, but I knew that wasn’t going to help me at all, so I decide to try and take it all slow. I know Jason has no idea about this yet, but that they were hiding something from me.

I see little brother Caleb sneaking out from behind Ryan and Brittany. As I tell him he can come up and sit on my bed, I realize he really isn’t my brother. He would be my cousin. My one and only close relative. I lift him up on my bed as Jason helps, pain shot threw ribs, and I flinch. Nobody really notices as I try to cover in up.

“Rosie, I missed ya. I love ya sissy.” Little Caleb giggles, giving me a hug. His voice was just so cute with those beady brown eyes.

“I love you too, but it’s hard to tell you that we aren’t brother and sister.” I tell him, even though it was a little hard for me to do that when Caleb was just the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. Too bad he wasn’t my real brother. The look on Caleb’s face was as surprised as everyone else, even Jason.

“What are you talking about Rosie?” Caleb asks.

“Why don’t you ask Mommy and Daddy?” I respond, looking up at them.

I saw Jason jerk his head over at them too. He was just as confused as Caleb. I could see the look on Ryan’s face was just curious, wondering how I knew. Brittany wasn’t all that sure.

“Can someone tell me what’s going on?” Jason shouts.

All was silent for a moment. “Well, if no one else is going to tell you I should just inform you.” I begin. “When I was out, I end up at this coffee shop and meet an old friend of my parents and she told me that my parents aren’t really my parents. They are just my aunt and uncle. My real parents are dead.” Jason was in shock.

“Rose, who was it that told you?” Brittany asks.

“It doesn’t matter; you lied to me.” I said. “But since you asked nicely, her name was Melody Grey.”

The look on both of their faces as they looked at each other, was confused, but pissed off. Ryan turns around, shaking his head. I hear whispering something, I can barely hear what he said but it’s sounds like he said, “That’s impossible, she knows what would happen if she found the truth?”

I wasn’t all sure what that was supposed to mean, but maybe they were trying to protect me all along. No, they couldn’t have.

“Caleb let’s go. Let’s leave Rose alone and rest for awhile, ok?” Ryan insists.

Caleb nods and hops off the bed giving me a kiss on the cheek. “I still love you,” he replies, rushing out of my room like a speeding bullet. I look over at Jason that was still very puzzled, but didn’t bother to ask me right away.
