Chapter 6

That next morning, the vivid sun shined right through the window. I was blinded by the light, so I woke up. Tanner was lying there beside me, sound asleep. I still didn’t know why he’d still be sleeping. After all, he and Travis basically slept the whole ride here. If anything, Jesse would be the one still sleeping in.

I looked over at the other bed, where Travis was still asleep, but the thing was, there was no Jesse. I began to agonize.

“Maybe he’s out on the balcony.” I thought to myself.

I gradually got up off of the soft, floral bed I was sleeping on and walk passed both beds and headed for the balcony sliding doors. There he stood, resting up against the railing, dazing out across the green valley. He glances over and sees me and then I smiled.

“Hey, what are you doing up so early?” he asked.

“The sun woke up.” I answered.

“Oh, I thought you were going to say that Travis’s snoring woke you up or something. Man, I could never sleep in the same room with him, ever.” He said.

I giggled, closing the sliding door behind me. “I thought you slept in the same room when you were younger?”

“Yeah, and I always had to go down stairs and sleep on the couch because he was so loud.” Jesse clarified.

I laughed so hard that I had snorted. Jesse stared at me funny, but just let out a chuckle.

“Wow, didn’t think it was that funny?” Jesse chuckled.

“Sorry,” I smirked. “I’m not sure what came over me. So, why are you out here, besides trying to get away from Travis’s snoring?” I asked.

“Just a little thinking,” he countered.

“Thinking of what exactly?” I questioned.

“You have to ask so many questions, don’t you?”

“Sorry, can’t I ask questions?”

Jesse just laughed. “If you really wanna know, I’ll tell you.” I nodded. He sighed. “Ok, I was thinking about you. I know that sounds weird, but I was.”

I started blushing a bit. “Why exactly were you thinking of me?” I asked.

Before Jesse could say anything, Travis opened the sliding door and walked out.

“Hey, what are you two up to?” he questioned.

“Just chatting,” Jesse replied.

“Well, shouldn’t we get on the road? It’s almost eight o’ clock.” Travis announced.

“But isn’t Tanner still asleep?” I asked.

Travis rolled his eyes, not caring at all about Tanner. “Well, then tell lazy ass to get out of bed. I wish we could just leave him here.”

Jesse laughed, but I didn’t think it was that funny. I slid the sliding door open and I saw Tanner on the edge of the bed, scratching his head.

I slowly walked over to him. “Morning bed-head,” I said, grabbing my bag off the floor and putting it on the bed.

“Hey, sorry I was acting like a jerk last night. I’ve been through a lot with my parents kicking me out and stuff. I know I was acting like a total ass, I’m sorry,” Tanner apologized.

I wasn’t all that sure if I was going to believe that he was sorry or not, but I accepted it.

“It’s ok, I understand. You were through a lot it’s cool,” I responded.

He gave me a peck on the cheek and ran in to the bathroom as Jesse and Travis walked in. They didn’t say anything to me at all.

Tanner paced out of the bathroom and I grabbed the clothes I was going to wear today, (green tank top that said ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish,’ cut-off jeans, but they weren’t short, short. Almost down to my knees.) I fixed my hair a bit, which really took forever and then I was ready to go.

I wasn’t really sure how far we were from Las Vegas, but I knew that we were going to be there today. I was all excited and overwhelmed like a little girl on her birthday.
