Chapter 23
I look down at the dashboard and then the clock. 8:52 a.m. I feel like I can close my eyes and fall right asleep. I'm afraid to even blink my eyes without it happening. It's just been a long, rough day for me finding out my parents are actually my aunt and uncle and my real parents passed away.
I softly hear the radio playing, so I reach out for the knob for the volume and turn it up a little, just to keep me up. "Burnin' Up" by The Jonas Brothers was on. One of my other favorite songs from them.
Slowly, my eyes blink. I try and shake it off. I'm seriously going to fall asleep. I turn the volume more, hoping it'll help. Out of no where, my phone rings again, and this time it was Kendra. I answered it.
"Talk to me," I greet.
"Rose, what's up? Jason came home a few minutes ago and said that he talked to you, but you never told him where you are at. Where are you? I'm worried sick about you girl." Kendra replies.
"I'm sorry Kendra. I'm kind of in a hurry to get back home. I found out the biggest news of my life and I really need to get home." I tell her.
"So are you almost here?" she asks.
I notice a road sign that says, 10 miles to Kimball. "I'm about ten miles away. I'll be there soon, just don't worry so much. And tell Jason that too, ok?" I let her know. I hear a muffled voice in the background and I knew it was Jason."Actually, let me talk to him." I add.
I hear a crack noise in the phone as she hands him the phone.
"Rose," Jason's voice echoes.
"Jason, you have nothing to worry about hun," I began. "I'll be home in about fifteen or twenty minutes, all right?" I hesitate.
I glance up at the road for a brief second and notice I was weaving in and out of the middle line and a car was coming towards me. I swerve over to the right, but I turn the wheel too hard and I was sliding off the road.
I screech. I flew off the edge of the road and suddenly land in a deep ditch. I could faintly hear Jason's voice calling for me, questioning what's wrong.
All of a sudden, the car hits something head on and made me drop my phone on the floor. My head jerks back at the head-rest of my seat and flies head first at the steering wheel, then everything stops and everything goes blank.
