Chapter 2

BBBBBRRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGG!!

The loud buzzing noise of my cell phone vibrate wakes me up. I groaned not wanting to get up, but I knew I had to. I picked it up, knowing it was either Jesse or Travis.

“Hello?” I whispered.

“Sounds like I woke ya. Just wanted to let you know that we’ll be there in about 45 minutes, all right?” Travis laughed.

“Yeah, I’ll see ya then.” I replied.

“Bye,” he said.

“Bye.”

I hung up the phone and placed it on my bed. I rubbed my eyes with my hands and forced myself out of bed, quickly and quietly. I still live with my parent, because I don’t have enough money to pay for my own place. Travis and Jesse said I could move in with them, but I decided not to, just because I probably wouldn’t feel right being with all guys.

I walked over to my bathroom slowly and took a shower. Afterwards, I get out of the shower and change into light wash blue jeans that had a hole in the right knee, and a tight- fit neon green shirt. I had bangles up my arm, just so I didn’t look so simple. I grab my guitar case with the guitar inside and threw it over my shoulder. I also took my cowboy hat that was on my bed and placed it on top of my head. I pick my duffle bag full of clothes off the ground and swung it over my other shoulder.

I tip-toed down the stairs as I hoped I would trip down them. Once I reached to bottom of the steps, I dropped my things gently on the floor in front of the door, which I opened to keep a look out for Jesse and Travis.

I decided not to eat breakfast, but I did see a donut on a napkin off the kitchen counter, which had a note lying next to it. I pick up the donut and took a bite of it as I read the message:

Kay,

We know how much this means to you and we are sorry we can’t come with, but your father and I wish you the best of luck, so does your sister, Jessica. We love you dearly and if you are on TV, we’ll be watching. Sing your heart out. Best wishes to Jesse and Travis too.

I smiled and finished the rest of the chocolate covered donut, with colored sprinkles. I heard a car pull up in the driveway and saw both Jesse and Travis getting out of the car. I rushed to the door and opened it for them to come in.

“What have you been eating?” Travis chuckled.

“A chocolate covered donut, why? Do I have chocolate on my face?” I laughed, but whispered, not to wake anyone. They both nodded and I just laughed. “Can you be kind enough to take out my stuff and I’ll be out as soon as I can, ok?”

“Will do,” Jesse replied.

I ran into the kitchen and washed my mouth, while looking at my reflection in the microwave door. I made sure all the lights and stuff were off in the house before I left. When I saw that they took my stuff out and saw them both leaning up against Jesse’s dark blue ’07 Honda Accord. He told me before that he didn’t like the car; he only liked it for the mileage.

“I call shottie!” I shouted.

“Hey, how do you know I didn’t want shot gun?” Travis said jokingly.

“Too late Travis. She already called it.” Jesse chuckled as I stick out my tongue, playfully.

As they got in, I rushed to the passenger side and get in. Jesse put the key in the ignition and started it up, as I turned up the volume to the radio, blasting out to “Sounds So Good” by Ashton Shepherd. Then Jesse turned it down a bit. I looked over at him, puzzled. He saw the look on my face.

“Kay, you know I don’t like anyone messing with anything in my car.” He said and he sounded pretty serious. My expression on my face went from confused to upset. “Nah, I’m just playing around. Crank that thing up!” he laughed.

A large smirk rolled across my face as I nudge his shoulder. Road trip here we come!
