Chapter 20

"Well then I can just stay over at your house. And once I know that someone is home, I can slip out, quietly." Jason explains.

"Jason, don't you get it?" I question. "I can't let anyone in the house when my parents are out."

Jason grins. "Rose, I promise you it will all be ok." I sigh.

He walks in through my house like he's lived here his entire life. I'm very skeptical about having Jason over without my parents knowing because I'm bound to get in trouble. It’s happened before and it'll happen again.  He hesitates at first, but smiles. I'm still grinning.

"Jason just head down for my room awhile and then I'll be down. I need to go make sure Caleb isn't going to get himself into any trouble." I tell him.

He nods and heads down for the basement. I pace over to Caleb's room and nose over to the doorway to check on him. I notice him on his floor playing with his matchbox cars, crashing them into each other. He never saw me watching him. I half laugh to myself. I turn around head back out to the family room and stroll down the stairs to my room. As I reach the bottom of the stairs, Jason's sitting on the edge of my bed, reading a book that looks like my diary. In a moment I realize it is. I run over to him and take it out of his hands.

“Don’t touch that!” I rip it out of his hands and threw it under my pillow and sat on it.

“Gees sorry;” Jason jerks. “I’m very nosey I know.”

“Well, you don’t have to nose through my diary. There’s nothing in there for you to see.”

Jason smirks and half chuckles. “Whatever,” he murmurs. “Since you aren’t supposed to be out of the house, do you want to watch a movie in here?”

“I guess, but make sure we don’t fall asleep on my bed.” I say.

“Why?” he asks.

“Because if someone finds you here they’ll think that we did ‘it’ and it’ll be a nightmare that’ll never end. My dad’s very certain and serious about that.” I reply.

“Oh,” he responds. “We’ll let’s watch a movie that won’t be so long and boring.” He insists.

“Well we can watch the new Twilight movie that just came out.” I suggest.

“I didn’t think it would be out in theaters for another couple of months?” he wonders.

“Well, let’s just say I have my ways and people.”

“Alright, I’ll go with that then.” He smiles.

I hop off of my bed and go grab the DVD from my nightstand. I pop it in the play, after I turn on the TV. I grasp onto the remote and press the green Play' button and the movie started. Note: (I know the movie isn't out yet, but just believe it just for the story.)

All of a sudden I hear screaming and shouting. I felt the anger of them shaking the house. Swearing and cursing rang through my ears. I open my eyes. My dad chases Jason and me up the stairs. My mother was sitting out on the living room couch once we reach the top of the stairs.

“What the hell were you thinking?” My dad hollers.

“Mr. Aldean it isn’t what you think,” Jason tells him, trying to calm him down.

“Oh I know exactly what you two were doing.” He replies.

“Dad, nothing happened between us in that bed. We fell asleep watching a movie that’s all, I swear.” I explain to him.

“Rose you know better. I told you a million times that no one is to be coming over when your mother and I are gone. I trusted you.” My dad shouts at me.

“Dad I’m sorry; I tried telling Jason that.”

“You know sorry isn’t good enough. God only knows what happened down there and I hoping that it’s not what I think it is.” He says.

I was fed up with all the fighting, so I just took my purse of the counter and start to run out the door to my car. Luckily, I had the keys in my purse so I just started her up, as everyone rushes to the door to stop me, hollering at me not to leave, but I had to get away from all the yelling. I back out of the driveway as fast as I could, then put it in forward and sped away.

A lot of things are going through my mind right now. I really wasn’t in any mood to turn back now. I wasn’t even sure why I got up and left. I guess I’m just not the kind of person that hates fighting.

It’s late and I have no idea where I’m going to go.
