Chapter 16

"I saw him wink at you!" Kendra whispers to me.

"Yeah, I kind of figured." I reply.

"You know, Jason's just going to keep doing all he can so he can get you to fall more for him. I might not have been with him growing up when he was young, but I've learned a lot about him. Especially his dad." she explains. Finally, we can get off the subject of me and Jason.

"What all did you learn about him?" I ask.

"Well, for one he's nothing but a worthless bastard!" she starts. "He abuses my mom and sometimes me. At first, I thought my mom made a good decision by marrying him, but just made another mistake." she says.

"Sounds exactly what Jason said to me." I respond.

"I wouldn't doubt it." she grins.

Memories are flooding back to me to the day that Jason told me about him and his father. I wasn't sure why. If Kendra and Jason think he's nothing, then I suppose he is, but when I first met him, he didn't seem half bad.

"Kendra, I know both you and Jason think he's nothing, but why would he be nice to me?" I question.

"Well, since it was the first time meeting him, that's different. After he realizes that you and Jason are dating, he starts getting to be that strange old man that our family sees all the time. You know, I never told anyone this before, but I never had a real father. They all end up just like Jason's dad." Kendra sighs.

"Wait! How many dad's did you actually have?" I wonder.

"Eight, counting Dave," she pauses, and notices the flabbergasted expression. "My biological dad past away on my first birthday. I don't remember him at all, but I do get flashbacks of that day. Right now, it's just a big blur."

"Then what about the other seven?" I murmmer.

"My first step father, cheated on my mom for another woman. So did step father number four" she tells me. "Number two, three, five, eight, were all abusive. They hurt me mom than my mom. Dave was the only one that hasn't raped me yet out of those four."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I know I probably have nothing to do with this, but did any of them go to jail?" I ask, trying not to get all up in her face. 

"Step-father number two and three were guitiy, but number five got away with it. I don't know why, but he's still out there. Oh and if you are wondering why I didn't say anything about six and seven, it's because they were only using my mom, so they can see each." she states.

"Oh God! What up with all the homos? I honestly have no problem with them. I have a bunch friends that are. Of course they hit on me at times, but they were never that bad. I feel really sorry for you Kendra. I wish there would be a way to change it all and you could turn back time, so none of this would have happened." I explain to her. "So you're mean to tell me all this and you haven't told anyone?"

"Nobody, my mother and I are the only ones." she replies.

"Not even Jason or Kyle?" I ask in disbelief.

"No one else." she cries. She began crying more and more. By the time I want to comfort her, there was an interruption.

"What the hell?" I hear a voice shout and I saw Kyle and Jason coming around the corner of the ring, where they were showing the animals. I guess that meant that they were done showing.

Kyle knelt down to Kendra's side. "Kendra, what wrong?" he asks her, but she wouldn't give him an answer, so he turns to me. "Did you have anything to do with this?" he sneers.

"Kyle, relax. Rose wouldn't do anything to make Kendra cry." Jason says walking over to me, and then whispers in my ear, "what happened? You two weren't even watching us."

"Sorry, we just in the mood of talking and at the one conversation, I made her cry." I respond, as I felt Kyle's eyes glaring right through me. Jason take my hand and leads me back behind the bleechers so we could talk alone.

"What exactly were you talking about that made her break down like that?" Jason questions me.

"I don't think Kendra would want me to tell you." I reply.

"Rose, come off it! If we would ever want to be a couple, we can't keep secrets from each other." he says.

"Yes, I know, but I'm pretty sure Kendra will end up telling you anyway." I respond.

"How am I suppose to know if you're lying or not?"

He had a point, but if Kendra never told anyone else, I'm not going to be the one to ramble it on to the world. I look down at the ground, as I felt a warm tear slide down my boney cheek.

"Rose, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound so harsh." Jason whispers, wrapping his arms around me in a hug. "Earlier I felt like a jerk trying to make sure that we weren't taking things too slow."

I pull away from his warm and loving hug and look up at him. "Kiss me." I state.

"What?" he said.

"Kiss me," I repeat.

"I thought you wanted everything to go slow?" he asks.

"Just shut up and do it." I reply, with a little chuckle.

Jason threw his arms in the air. "Fine, whatever."

And like that, sparks flew. Our lips came together like a magnet.
