Chapter 22

Two Months Later

No word or sign from Cindy in the last few months, but I just found out that I’m pregnant. I’m not all that shocked though. I didn’t tell Caleb or my mom yet, but I’m going to soon. I wonder what my mom would think about that. She’s always busy at work so lately, I’ve been home alone. It sucks because there’s nothing to do, but go on the computer, do a little school work, and basically, I can do whatever I want. Out of no where, my cell phone starts to ring. I realize that it was past three o’clock, so Caleb just got off school.

I spoke up. “Hello?”

“Karrie, do you mind if I come over today?” he says.

“Alright, I’ll be over in about ten to fifteen minutes.”

“Alight bye.”

“Bye.”

In that amount of time, I relaxed on the couch and started watching TV. I flipped through over 100 channels until I was watching Jungle Book on Disney. I use to love that movie when I was a kid and I still do. Once the commercial were on I heard a knock on the door, since we don’t have a door bell. I pry myself off the couch and walk over to get the door. There stood Caleb and a big smile on his face as usual.

“So what did you want to tell me?” I said, toning his smile down a bit.

“I don’t know if you’re going to act the way I planned, but I’m…” I stopped and began again. “I’m pregnant.” I whisper.

He looked shocked and full of mixed emotions. I don’t know what he’s going to say.

“Are you for real? This is great! Are positive though?” he questions.

“Yes, I am 100 percent sure.” I told him.

He runs over to me, picks me up and spins me around in a complete circle, then putting me back down on the ground again.

“Do you know how amazing this is? But we’re going to be very young parents. Have you told you mother yet?”

“No, I barely see her anymore. I want to wait to tell her though.”

Silence spreads across the room.

“Do you wanna go down to the Pizza Box (pizza shop) to celebrate? My treat.” He offered.

“You got it.” I reply.

We get in Caleb’s car and we were off to the Pizza Box. Maybe it wasn’t the best pizza in the world, or maybe it wasn’t the best looking in side but it was pretty darn good. It was about a fifteen minute drive from my house, so I was glad for that.

As we get inside the pizza place, I took a seat at a booth while Caleb went up to order a medium pizza, with pepperoni, cheese, and sausage. When I was younger, I was a vegetarian, but I obviously didn’t know what I was missing. Caleb came back with our drinks though. He sat down across from me and I saw his eyes trail off to the front of the building. I looked at him confused.

“What is it?” I ask.

“Look who’s here,” he replies.

I turn around and see Cindy, of course, standing at the entrance, looking around the place. I turn my head away quick, covering the side of my face with my hand so she wouldn’t notice me as quickly.

“What is she doing here?” I whisper.

“Who knows, but I have a feeling she’s out looking for us.” Caleb said.

I sighed. Why does she have to ruin my day now?
