"Okay, 101, which way is the next Topaz?" Simon asked as the 2 of them left the GHA base. 101 sniffed the air and said, "There's too much interference. These stones have the same energy signiture as most stars, so it's... difficult to decifer what's a Topaz and what's a big ball of fire in space." "Ugh. Can you try to limit your search to within the planet's atmosphere?" Simon asked. "It's not so easy. Energy to me has a sort of... scent I guess. The scent of energy just travels to me, I can't force that or limit it." 101 replied. "Then how do you detect any kind of energy at all? If it's all messed up by the stars, how can you pick up more miniscule ammounts of energy?" Simon asked. "Each level of energy has a different scent. Stars have their own scent, lesser levels of energy have completely different scents. That's how I work. But, these stones have almost the exact same energy level as stars, so they have the same scent. If we were looking for things with less energy, then I could help, but..." 101 explained. "Then what was the point of all this? If what you say is true, then you're completely useless to me!" Simon exclaimed. "Hold on, I never said it was impossible. Give me the Topaz." 101 said. Simon pulled the Topaz out of his pocket, and 101's tongue hung out. "Why the GHA made you part dog, I will never know. Try not to lick my face." Simon said as he handed over the topaz.
101 took the Topaz and barked. She sniffed the stone, and then began chewing on it! "Hey! Stop that!" Simon demanded. She didn't respond. "NO! BAD!" He shouted. 101 looked at him, barked, and then continued chewing the Topaz. Simon bent down and tried yanking it out of her mouth, and she bit his hand! "Ah! BAD GENETIC EXPERIMENT! BAD!" Simon yelled. Suddenly, another idea came to him. He got on his knees and started rubbing her stomach! 101 began to pant from pleasure, thus dropping the stone out of her mouth. With his right hand he grabbed the Topaz quickly and stopped rubbing her stomach. 101 jerked her head and stared at the Topaz, giving Simon those almost irrisistable puppy eyes. "No. You are not going to get the Topaz." Simon said. He looked away and put the Topaz in his pocket.
"No fair, that thing tasted good." 101 complained. "Can you help me now?" Simon asked. "Ugh, fine." 101 said. Stupid Geneton. Stupid, abominable Geneton. She thought to herself. "There's a .002 piko-watt difference between these stones and the stars. This'll be easy. The closest one is that way." 101 said, pointing north East. "Good. Let's go!" Simon exclaimed. He jumped into the air and, with his electro magnetic powers, flew in the direction 101 pointed. "Wait! I can't fly or run that fast!" 101 shouted.
Simon flew back to her, took her hand, and the 2 of them flew across the sky. "This ISN'T what I had in mind!" She exclaimed. "Then what was?" Simon asked. "Something that DIDN'T involve you touching me." 101 answered. "You were fine with physical contact when I rubbed your stomach." Simon retorted. "yeah, but I was in dog mode! ... you rubbed my stomach? EW!!!" 101 shouted. "You seemed to rather enjoy it." Simon said. "I WAS A CANINE!!!" 101 shouted. "Temper. Temper." Simon replied. "Can we please just WALK to the Topaz?" 101 asked. "Why? This is faster." Simon told her. "BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE TOUCHED BY A DAMN GENETON!" 101 screamed.
Simon let go of her hand, but kept hold of her with a magnetic link. 101 screamed and thrashed around in the air. "MAKE IT STOP!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!" 101 shouted. Simon chuckled, and then the 2 of them landed on the ground. "Don't you EVER do that again, you ass hole!" 101 exclaimed. "You SAID you didn't want me to touch you." Simon retorted. "Yeah but..." 101 began. "But nothing. You told me to stop touching you, and I did." Simon interrupted. "I didn't expect you to suspend me in mid-air!" 101 said. "Could have told me that." Simon replied. "Shut up! Let's just walk." 101 said. The 2 WALKED towards the spot 101 pointed to, and Simon said, "You know, I get the feeling that you don't like me very much at all." "GEE, YA THINK?!?" 101 shouted in his face.
Meanwhile...
824 was watching the 2 slowly head towards the Topaz. "Simon... You will not succeed. I'll see to that." It said. "And you... 101... You traitor. I'll make your death VERY painful." it continued. It spread its wings and flew towards them.
"Hold on. Stop." Simon said as he came to a hault. "Why are we stopping?" 101 asked. Simon cupped his hand around his right ear and asked, "Do you hear that?" 101 coppied the hand motion and said, "No." "Wings. Metallic wings... Oh no." Simon said. He grabbed 101's hand and rocketed towards the Topaz as fast as he can. "WHAT THE FU---" 101 began to say. Suddenly, a missile just barely missed them! "Huh?" She asked. She looked behind her and screamed, "IT'S 824!!! FLY FASTER, DAMN IT! FLY FASTER!!!" "I'm going as fast as I can!" Simon exclaimed. 824 let out a mighty roar as he quickly gained on them. "WE'RE DEAD!!!" 101 shouted. O: Omniscient Summoning! Omniscient Summoning! A voice screamed in Simon's head. The voice of the man that had given him the Topaz. "Huh?" Simon asked. O: OMNISCIENT SUMMONING, SIMON! USE OMNISCIENT SUMMONING!!! The voice yelled. "OMNISCIENT SUMMONING!!!" Simon shouted, and suddenly he and 101 vanished.
"Whoa, what just happened?" 101 asked. "I'm not sure." Simon replied. He made a full 360 turn, but there was no sign of 824. "Hey, Geneton. I smell the Topaz, it can't be any farther than 200 feet away. But, at this point, the smell is all around me. I can't tell where it's coming from." 101 said. "That's fine. I have this." Simon said as he pulled out the black rod that the man had given him. It was now glowing a shade of green. "It's close." He said. He held the stick as far from his body as he could and started to turn in a circle. After a 20 degree turn, the stick started to turn yellow. "It's that way." Simon said. "Wait, if you have that thing, why do you need me?" 101 asked. "Because, this only works within a few hundred feet. I needed to find the general area that the Topaz is in, which is where you come in." Simon explained. The 2 walked in the direction the stick was pointed in.
After several minutes, the stick was a very dark shade of red. "The Topaz must be within 2 feet now." Simon said. "I agree... the scent is VERY powerful here." 101 stated. "All right then, let's start digging." Simon said. "Uh, I only do that in dog mode." 101 told him. "Fine, be that way." Simon said as he pulled out the Topaz. 101's canine instincts kicked in, and she started digging in search of a very powerful chew toy. Simon helped, but his digging skills were lacking in comparison with 101's. So, after a minute, he just sat down and watched.
Then, 101 started barking a lot. "What is it, girl?" Simon asked. He looked into the pit that 101 had dug and saw her chewing on a shiny, red stone. "Another Omni Topaz!" Simon exclaimed. He jumped into the pit and tapped the Topaz with the stick. He then generated a spark an inch away from his finger tip and zapped 101 with it, causing her to drop the Topaz from her mouth. He grabbed it and put the stone in another pocket. "I don't know what I hate more, you zapping me or touching me." 101 said. Simon laughed and said, "C'mon, let's go. Which way is the next Topaz?" 101 sniffed the air and said, "That way." she pointed towards the ruins of Tucson Arizona.
