The Traveler: part 3
|
The dimension of time is particularly odd. "Wow, this place is weird." Rod said as he and the Traveler entered the time stream. Everything of every shape and size was their. Literally. "You'd expect anything else?" The Traveler asked. "Well, I knew it would be weird, but this is..." Rod began to say. A giant eyeball with 3 claws and a tenticle flew by them. "...Ridiculous." He finished. A green, wart covered octopus walked up to them with a cart and asked, "Would ya liiiiiiiike to buyyyyyyyy a carrot?" It pulled out something purple. "No!" Rod shouted, grabbing the 'carrot' and throwing it as far away as possible. "Leave us!" He shouted at the creature. "Okee dokee." It said and crawled away. "Why is this place so weird?" Rod asked. "Simple: This place is made by Tachyons. The dimension of time is composed of nothing but Tachyons. And, a Tachyon's mass is imaginary, as is its energy, speed, etc. Consequently, that means that the dimension of time is composed of pretty much everything every single sentient being can imagine." The Traveler explained. "Can we make them go away?" Rod asked as a blue, 7 legged kitten bounced by. "Only way to do that is to destroy every single sentient being in the universe." The Traveler replied. "I don't like this place!" Rod exclaimed. "Don't worry, we'll be gone in a minute." The Traveler said.
A bug flew up to The Traveler and said, "Yo!" "It's a time bug! Kill it! Kill it!" Rod exclaimed. The bug looked at Rod as if he'd just grown a second head. The Traveler gave him the same look. "What? Aren't time bugs evil? Why are you staring at me as if I'd just grown a second head?" Rod asked. "First of all, only some Time bugs are evil. Paco isn't one of those evil time bugs. Secondly..." The Traveler said. He picked up the second head that had appeared on Rod's shoulder and tossed it aside. "I HATE THIS PLACE!!!" Rod shouted. "So, TT, who's the punk?" Paco asked. "TT?" Rod and the Traveler asked. "What? No good?" Paco asked. "Sorry, keep trying, Paco." The Traveler replied. "What's wrong with TT? It's your initials: The Traveler." Paco said. "Should we tell him?" The Traveler asked. "Sure." Rod said. "Tell me what?" Paco asked. The Traveler whispered something in Paco's ear.
"Ooookay, I'll keep trying." Paco said. "Here's an idea: The Traveler." The Traveler suggested. "But that's too hard to say!" Paco exclaimed. "Didn't you say we'd be gone in a minute?" Rod asked impatiently. "We're traveling a few thousand years into Earth's future, don't be hasty." The Traveler replied. "You say that as if we're on a road trip from Inferon to Fruitville (Sorta like the San Francisco of this story, just as Inferon is like Phoenix.)" Rod muttered to himself. "How about Double T?" Paco asked. "Eh, it works." The Traveler replied. Suddenly, he and Rod vanished from the time stream and appeared in a field of flowers.
"Where are we?" Rod asked. "Inferon, 8012 AD." The Traveler announced. "Isn't it wonderful?" He asked, sounding a bit like a toddler. "Uh, sure." Rod said. The Traveler lied down and rolled down a hill. "WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!" He shouted on the way down. Rod shrugged and ran down the hill after him. The Traveler was laughing like crazy by the time Rod caught up. "What's so funny?" Rod asked. "Oh, nothing. I just LOVE this place!" The Traveler exclaimed. He got up and dusted the pollen off of him. "Once again, your straightness is brought into question." Rod said. "Homosexuality is unnatural and disgusts me to no end. It's a sin against God and against nature itself. Accuse me of being gay again and I'll see to it that you spend the next day or so in the dimension of slumber." the Traveler threatened. "Okay, okay, I get it." Rod said, not wanting to spend another minute in that crazy place. "So, any particular reason why we came here, or did you just wanna roll around like a goof?" Rod asked. "Truth is, Life on Earth is in danger. I gotta save this place before it all goes up in nuclear blasts or something like that." The Traveler answered. "But mainly I wanted to roll around like a goof." He added. "So, do you have any idea how life on Earth comes to an end, supposedly?" Rod asked. "Not yet. Dr. Nemoy and I have to do further research before we can find out exactly what happens." The Traveler said. "How do you even know it'll happen?" Rod asked. "One time, the Ytachon took me to 8014, and no life existed on Earth. Fortunately, some events are in fluxx whereas others are fixed. The extinction of life on Earth just happens to be in Fluxx, thank God for that." The Traveler answered. "So, what do you plan to do?" Rod asked. "Find a place to set up the lab of course." The Traveler replied.
After hours of searching, The Traveler and Rod settled for a red 1950s Police Box. "Why do these even still exist?" Rod asked. "No idea." The Traveler answered. "Dr. Nemoy, you're needed!" He announced, and the computer once again came to life. "Hello, Traveler, Rod. How are you 2 today?" Dr. Nemoy asked. "It's all good. Dr. Nemoy, are their any up coming events that could potentially lead to the extinction of life on Earth?" The Traveler asked. "Actually, I've been researching this particular subject for quite a few days, and I may know what might have happened. It turns out that humans unknowingly share the Earth with another intelligent race known as the 'Ovacho'. Unfortunately, they are forced to life near the Earth's core and consequently have pretty miserable lives. It could be that they plan to come up to the surface to start a war." Dr. Nemoy explained. "Could you describe the Ovacho for me, Dr. Nemoy?" The Traveler asked. "All I know for sure is that they are silicon based life forms and that they live near the center of the Earth. As far as we know, they could be totally content with their life style and the end of Life on Earth could have nothing to do with them. I apologize if I haven't been helpful." Dr. Nemoy answered. "It's all right, Dr. Nemoy. Get my hamster wheel ready and I'll check out the Ovacho." The Traveler replied. "HAMSTER WHEEL?!?" Rod asked in shock. "It's a giant wheel with a radius of about 6 feet. As the robo hamster, controlled by me, runs in the wheel, the wheel generates energy spikes and drills into the ground." The Traveler explained. "But you couldn't just make a giant drill? Why a HAMSTER wheel?" Rod asked. "Because, hamsters are so CUTE!" The Traveler exclaimed, jumping up and down and clapping. "I'm gonna pretend you didn't do or say that just now." Rod said. "Well they are." The Traveler said. Rod just crossed his arms and pouted. "What?" The Traveler asked. "I'm trying my best NOT to win a trip to the dimension of time." Rod answered. "Uh, Traveler, we seem to have a bit of a problem." Dr. Nemoy said. "What is it?" The Traveler asked. "The hamster got away again." Dr. Nemoy answered. "Great. Oh well, he'll be back in a few hours." The Traveler said. "Should I get the sleeping bags?" Rod asked. "In this case, a few hourse DOENS'T mean a few days." The Traveler assured him. "Good. Soooooo... what do we do in the time we wait for the hamster?" Rod asked. "Dr. Nemoy, prepare a couple of mags from PB." The Traveler commanded. "Yes, sir." Dr. Nemoy replied. "What are mags from PB?" Rod asked. "You'll see." The Traveler said with a sly grin. "Ugh, why do I get the feeling it's a nerd game?" Rod asked.
A few hours later, while Rod and The Traveler were reading magazines titled 'Play Boy', Dr. Nemoy announced that the hamster had returned. Rod and the Traveler dropped the magazines and headed down one of the thousands of hallways of the lab. "How do you NOT get lost in here?" Rod asked. "I invented a time machine. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to memorize the layout of my own lab." The Traveler answered. "Yeah, but this place is HUGE!" Rod exclaimed. "As is the empty space inside your head." The Traveler retorted with a chuckle. "Hey!" Rod shouted. "Look! A shooting star!" The Traveler exclaimed. "Huh? Where?" Rod asked, looking in every direction. "My point exactly." The Traveler said. Rod muttered something rude under his breath that is not suitable for younger viewers.
They finally arrived in a room with a large wheel and robotic hamster. The 2 of them jumped on top of the hamster's back and The Traveler took the wheel. He directed the hamster to the wheel and made it run. There was a humming sound and soon, rocks of varying sizes were sent flying and the wheel started digging deeper and deeper. "Can't believe we're riding on the back of a giant metal hamster." Rod said. "YIPPEEKAYAY!!!" The Traveler shouted. "Who are you, Bruce Willis?" Rod asked. "No, but I know a Bruce Willis. Back when I was in the 1980s, before I invented the Ytachon, we went to the same school. Not a very nice kid, by the way. All ways stole my lunch money." The Traveler said. "Wait, 1980s? I would think you were from the future or something! You built a TIME MACHINE." Rod exclaimed. "No, I'm from before you were even born. Latter half of the 20th century." the Traveler corrected. "Whoa..." Rod said.
After digging for a few hours, the 2 were still digging. "Can't this thing go any faster?" Rod asked. "Sure!" The Traveler exclaimed. He flipped a switch and the hamster's speed increased 100x. "WHAT THE HECK IS YOUR PROBLEM?!?!?" Rod shouted. "You asked for faster." The Traveler said. "BUT NOT THIS MUCH FASTER!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!" Rod yelled. The Traveler flipped another switch and the hamster wheel returned to normal speed. "Then don't rush me." He said calmly. "Okay, okay, sheesh." Rod said. "Hey! We're here! That extra boost of speed sure helped!" The Traveler exclaimed. The Radar on the back of the hamster's head was indicating a civilization. "Let's see if these Ovacho are the threat that Dr. Nemoy describes them to be." He said.
