I found myself in the middle of a forest. There were trees of every kind, ranging from pine trees to oaks to willows. They all had beautiful pink and blue flowers, each flower having dozens of petals. They also had a very strange, red, moon shaped fruit. Thousands of yellow and red flowers were scattered across the forest floor. I couldn't recognize the flowers as anything I'd ever seen on Earth. Many, many sounds filled my ears; sounds I'd heard before, but never really noticed. I could hear the roaring of a raging river, the light whistle of a warm breeze, the rustling of the leaves, the chirping and buzzing of small insects, and the singing of the birds. All these sounds I knew, but never paid them much attention because of other sounds: horns honking, cars drive by, the humming of my computer, etc. The air smelled of fresh fruits, such as apples, oranges, bananas, and pineapples. It all seemed very tranquil.
"Where am I?" I asked to no one in particular. When I fell asleep, I was in the ship with Jane resting her head on my shoulder and me resting my head on hers. Now I was completely alone in this strange, beautiful forest. I took a step, and heard the sound of crushing dirt. I approached one of the trees and picked a fruit off of it. I took a bite, and it had a flavor I can barely describe. It tasted like a combo of many great fruits, including oranges, kiwi, pineapple, watermelon, and bananas. The juice tasted like apple. "This is delicious!" I exclaimed.
After finishing the fruit, I began walking. I didn't know what I was searching for or where I was going, but it was better than just standing here. About an hour went by, and I came across a large temple; Ozad’s home. "But... I thought this temple was in a place that was otherwise completely blank, a void. Where'd this forest come from?" I asked. I knocked on the door, and it made a quiet creaking noise as it opened. Light flooded out of the temple, and I quickly turned away and shut my eyes.
Eventually the light faded, so I entered the temple. Inside, the flickering image of Ozad was waiting for me. "Hello, Will." He greeted me with a warm smile on his face. "Hi! Ozad, what happened? Not a week ago this place was nothing more than a blank wasteland. White in every direction. Now, it is so full of life and sounds and smells! How did this happen?" I asked. "This is what happens when powerful emotions are triggered. Any empty spaces in the mind are filled with absolutely anything. Also, my powers are now coming back faster, so I aided in the creation of the forest." Ozad explained. "But it all happened within a few days! I'd expect it to take years for this to happen. It seems so impossible!" I exclaimed. "I'd think that with all you've been through, you'd have learned that NOTHING is impossible." Ozad replied. "I guess..." I said. "So, what do you think of the forest?" He asked. "It's great! The plant life is beautiful, and the fruit tastes so good! The smells are so fragrant, and the sounds are simply magical!" I answered. "I thought you'd like it." Ozad said. "So... what did you bring me here fore? Was there a point, or did you just want to show me the forest?" I asked. "It's about the next Omni Topaz, the Topaz of knowledge." Ozad said. "Where is it?" I asked. "It is resting in the corpse of the last pharaoh of Egypt, Nectanebo the second, who fled to Nubia after his loss to the Persian King, Artaxerxes the third." Ozad answered. "Nubia, eh? Okay. I'll be sure to tell the others." I said. "Good. Now, you are free to wander about in the forest. Don't worry; there aren't any vicious animals." Ozad dismissed me. "Okay. Bye!" I exclaimed, and headed for the door. Just then, everything faded away, and I found myself looking into Jane's eyes.
"Mornin, sleepy head!" She greeted me. I sat up and replied, "Good morning, sweaty." She hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. She pulled away and said, "We're orbittin the Earth just a bit past the moon. We've been waitin on ya'll to get us down to the surface!" "So, what's our next destination?" Kayla asked. "Nubia." I answered. "Where's that?" Serenity asked. "It's partly in southern Egypt and partly in southern Sudan." I said. "Okay! Let's go!" Taylor and Tyler exclaimed. "Well, it isn't that simple." I said. "What? Just use yer teleporting ability and land us in Nubia. Simple as that!" Jane exclaimed. "Well, it's just, I don't know what Nubia looks like. So, we're going to Phoenix, first. We'll meet up with the other Genetons there, get some food, sleep for a night, and then get to the air port. My grandpa can pay our way." I explained. "Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Erik exclaimed. "OMNISCIENT SUMMONING!!!" I shouted, and the 7 of us vanished.
"Ah, Phoenix. It's good to be back!" I exclaimed once we arrived. "Yeah, it's been a while." Erik said. "Erik, how long have we been on this adventure, anyways?" I asked. "Oh, about 4 months." Erik replied. "Really? Doesn't seem like it's been that long." I said. "I know. But think about it; We met in February, and now it's the middle of June!" Erik exclaimed. "What day?" I asked. "I know!" Kayla exclaimed as she pulled out her cell phone. "The 15th." She said. "Wait, what?" I asked. "June 15th." She replied. "Oh, okay." I said. June 15th eh? Happy 14th Birthday to me. Too bad my family wasn't alive to help celebrate...
"Okay. Will, you go to your grandpa's house and have him buy 7 tickets to Nubia. The rest of us will get to the Geneton Base and tell them that we're coming." Serenity said. "Okay. C'mon, Jane! You're gonna love my grandpa!" I exclaimed as I took her hand. "No! She has to come with us, too." Serenity said. "What? Why?" Jane and I asked in unison. "Just because!" Serenity replied, grabbing Jane's arm and yanking her away from me. "Come on, all of you." She said, and lead all of them to the Geneton Base. "That was weird." I said, and ran off towards my grandpa's house.
"Will! Glad to see ya, kid!" My grandpa exclaimed as he opened the door for me. "Where's Erik and Lauren?" He asked. "Erik's back at the Geneton Base, and Lauren turned out to be working for the GHA." I answered. "Oh, I'm sorry 'bout that." Grandpa apologized. "It's okay. Grandpa, can you get me 7 tickets to Nubia?" I asked. "7? What for?" Grandpa asked. "Well, I need one for me, one for Erik, 2 for Taylor and Tyler, 1 for Serenity, 1 for Kayla, and 1 for Jane." I answered. "Who's Kayla and Jane?" my Grandpa asked. "Kayla's a girl I know from school who moved to Canada a few months ago. She's a pyroid. I met Jane in Florida. She's a Medicon, and my girl friend." I answered. "Ah, I see. So, why Nubia?" Grandpa asked. "We're searching for an orange stone known as the 'Omni Topaz'." I explained. "What is it?" He asked. "It's a stone containing massive quantities of power and energy. It represents the knowledge of Man." I replied. "Ah, I see. So, when are you 7 going?" Grandpa asked. "Tomorrow, if possible. As soon as we get enough food and sleep." I answered. "Okay. Come on in for a bit. There's something yer dad wanted you to have that I forgot to give you last time." Grandpa invited me in. "What?" I asked. "You'll see." Grandpa replied.
He lead me to his room, and opened a drawer. Inside was a silver stone. The silver Omni Topaz! "Here." He said, handing the stone to me. "Yer father found it in New Mexico, when he was working for AOL. He said he would give it to you on your 14th birthday, but, well, you know. So, I'm giving it to you." My Grandpa explained. "Thanks, Grandpa." I said, as I took the stone. Tears started forming in my eyes as I remembered all the good times I had with my dad. "Do you know what this is?" I asked. "What?" He asked. "This is another one of those Omni Topazes I told you about earlier. It represents Conscience." I answered. "Well, I'm glad I can help you find it. How many of these stone are there?" Grandpa asked. "7. They are red, orange, yellow, blue, silver, green, and black. They represent memory, knowledge, emotion, power, conscience, life, and sin, respectfully. Right now we have the Red, Green, Blue, and now the Silver Topazes. We're searching for all 7, so that way we can take on an evil man named 'Dazo'. If we fail, he'll destroy the entire Delta Quadrant; The one we live in." I explained. "So no pressure on you, huh?" Grandpa asked. "Yup." I said. "But why do you have to defeat this Dazo dude?" Grandpa asked. "Because, Erik and I were chosen by Dazo's brother, Ozad. Dazo's the evil one, Ozad's good." I answered. "Who exactly is Ozad, anyways? I remember you said his voice was in yer head, but who is he?" Grandpa asked. "The king, or former king, of the ascended beings." I answered. "Well then, who am I to argue with his majesty? Go on and save the universe. Just come home safe, okay?" Grandpa asked. "Okay, grandpa." I said, giving him a hug.
Suddenly, the phone rang. "I'll get it." Grandpa said, leaving the room. "Hello?" I heard him ask. "You're ready? Okay." He said, and then I heard him hang up. He came back into the room and said, "Well, Will, let's get you back to the Geneton Base." I followed him out of the house, down the street, and to the man hole that lead down to the sewers and the base. He knocked on the manhole lid and it slid open for us. We crawled in and kept walking until we came across the door. I opened it up, and...
Everyone in the main room jumped up and shouted, "SURPRISE!!!" Grandpa started laughing and my mouth dropped to the floor. "What's this all about?" I asked. "Happy 14th Birthday, hunny!" Jane exclaimed as she walked up to me and kissed me on the lips. "You guys all did this for me?" I asked. "Yes, well, your grandpa told us your birthday, and since that was today, I got all of the Genetons to prepare a party for you!" Serenity exclaimed as she approached us. "So, what do you think?" Erik asked. "Thanks, guys! But seriously, how did you guys prepare so fast? I was only gone for 5 minutes!" I exclaimed. "You can thank Johnny for that." Taylor and Tyler said. "Isn't Johnny that kid that can fast forward time whenever he hiccups?" I asked. "Yup! That's me!" A kid exclaimed, coming out of the crowd. "For once he was actually useful." I heard Lucas say as he came out of the crowd of Genetons. "Hey, Lucas! Long time no see! How've you been?" I asked. "Good, I've been good. You?" He asked. "Well, I've found the love of my life and now thousands of Genetons are celebrating my birthday, so I'd say I'm feeling pretty well!" I exclaimed.
We spent the next few hours doing nothing but partying. It was great! People kept asking me what it was like when I first absorbed the power of the Topaz, but I kept telling them I wasn't aware of jack squat when I did. Some one actually asked me who Jack Squat was! lol. I was surprised by the fact that nearly every Geneton knew who I was.
At about 10 pm, the old man that lead the Genetons announced that it was time to go to sleep. All the Genetons returned to their rooms. I entered the Electrode Sleeping room with Lucas, Erik and the other Genetons. We all got into the beds that had our names on them, and fell asleep. Sleep came easy to me, seeing as I was so happy.
