The entire city of Phoenix was completely surrounded by towering walls.  They reached up so high, it was impossible to see the top.  Lauren, Erik, Grandpa and I just stood and stared in awe.  "How did this happen?"  Lauren asked, finally breaking the silence.  It's the GHA!  They must have put up the walls while we slept!  "But how?"  I asked.  Those walls were built underground by the GHA roughly 20 years ago.  They were designed to lift easily into the air at a minutes notice.  If we had listened to me and left earlier, we wouldn't be in this situation.  This is what, the 3rd time your disobedience has gotten us into trouble?  "Okay, okay, I get it!  I should listen to you more!"  I exclaimed, not wanting to be lectured.  "Will, who ya talkin to?"  Grandpa asked.  "Just a voice inside my head.  He's always right; almost everything I've accomplished in the last few days was because of his advice."  I explained.  "Ya know ya sound crazy sayin that."  Grandpa replied.  "My thoughts exactly."  Lauren said.  "But he isn't!  I hear the voice too, sometimes."  Erik defended.  "Well, you’re both crazy.  But crazy is good!  YAAAY CRAZY!!!"  Lauren exclaimed.  "You sure have weird taste in friends."  Erik whispered to me.  "I know, isn't she great?"  I replied.  "Oooooh, someone has a crush!"  Erik teased me.  "What?  No!  I didn't mean it like that!  I'm just saying that it's fun to hang around with her!"  I defended.  "What kinda fun?"  Erik asked with strong implications in his voice.  If I were Lauren, I would have smacked him on the back of the head.  "Don't be nasty."  I replied.    "So, Ozad, how do we get out of this one?"  I asked.  "Will, don't take offense at this, but it's gettin kinda creepy to hear you talkin to nothin.  Couldn't you talk to this voice in a different way?"  Grandpa asked.  "I'm not sure."  I replied.  You could think to me.  I decided to try that out.  Hey?  Ozad?  Can you hear me?  TESTING 1 2 3!  ; ’Testing 1 2 3'?  What's that mean?  ; I’m testing to see if you can hear me.  ; I hear you loud and clear.  ; So, you can read my mind?  ; To a certain degree.  ; You didn't hear what I was dreaming about, did you?  ; No, I can only hear what you want me to hear.  ; *phew* that's good.  So, how do we get out of this mess?  ; Well, we could try Omniscient summoning again.  The strange presence that was holding us back isn't here any more, so it should work.  ; Okay.  "OMNISCIENT SUMMONING!!!"  I shouted.  The 4 of us vanished...  And reappeared right where we were.  O: Wait, what?  What just happened?  ; I’m not sure.  Why didn't it work, Ozad?  ; I don't know.  It usually works.  ; I’m beginning to doubt that.  "Why didn't it work?"  Erik asked.  "I'm not sure."  I replied.    And, to top off all of the weird things I've seen in the last few days, a floating TV approached us!  "EEE!  Floating TV!  Awesome!"  Lauren exclaimed, jumping up and down and clapping.  Grandpa and Erik looked at her as if she'd grown a second head.  I chuckled.    The TV came on, and a middle aged guy was on screen.  They way he stood and dressed gave me the idea that he was a general of some sort.  He stared at Erik and I with pure hatred and contempt, whereas he didn't even seem to notice Lauren and Grandpa.  "I have you now, you damn Genetons.  As you can see, your are completely trapped!"  The general exclaimed.  "Gee, we really didn't realize that.  Thanks for stating the obvious."  I replied.  "You aren't in the position to be making smart remarks, Will.  Now, I'm---"  "Wait, how'd you know my name?!?"  I asked, interrupting him in mid sentence.  "STALKER!!!"  Lauren shouted.  "I'm with the GHA.  I know more about you than you do."  The general answered, grinning evilly.  That was creepy.  REEEEEALLY creepy.  "Now, Will, I'm giving you 2 options.  At the moment, my troops are searching all over for you.  You can turn yourself and Erik in.  If you do, I will remove the walls and free the city.  Or, you can continue to avoid my troops, in which case everyone in the city will eventually die.  The lack of wind and water flow will cause the air and water to become stagnant.  Everyone will die, unless you turn yourselves in.  You have 1 day to make your decision.  Either way, you 2 die."  The general said, and then the TV flickered off.    "So, what are we gonna do?"  Erik asked.  "Do we turn ourselves in, or try to find a way out?"  He asked.  "I don't know... wait, I have an idea!  Come on!"  I exclaimed.  "Where we goin?  Just tell me where to take ya and I'll take ya."  Grandpa said, getting into his 1950s Chevy.  "Thanks grandpa!  That'll be much faster than running!"  I exclaimed, hopping into the back seat.  Lauren got in on the other side, and Erik got the passenger seat.  "Woo!  Finally!"  He exclaimed.  "What, you never rode shot gun before?"  I asked.  "No..."  He replied.  "Ha-ha!"  Lauren teased.  "Now, Lauren, it isn't nice to laugh at other people who are misfortunate than yourself."  I joked.  "EEE."  She replied.  "So, where to, Will?"  Grandpa asked.  "The wall." I replied.  Grandpa backed out of the driveway, almost hit the mailbox, and then we headed east towards the closest wall.  "So, what now?"  Grandpa asked.  The 4 of us got out of the car and approached the wall.  I realized how small I was compared to it, and I suddenly felt incredibly insignificant in the universe.  "Erik, this wall is made entirely out of metal.  What do we know about metal that we can use to our advantage?"  I asked, hinting at the fact that metal was a conductor.  "It's a conductor!"  Erik exclaimed.  "Soooooo?"  Lauren asked.  "So, Erik's ability is to transform himself and others into electricity.  Then, we can travel to the other side of the wall no problem!"  I explained.  "THAT'S AWESOME!!!"  Lauren shouted.  "Okay, here goes nothing."  Erik said.  "Wait, shouldn't we get the other people first?"  Lauren asked.  "I'll get them later."  Erik replied.  He grabbed my arm, I grabbed Lauren's hand, and Lauren grabbed my grandpa's arm.  Erik then pressed his free hand against the wall, and shut his eyes.  Suddenly, the 4 of us were pushed back by a few feet!  "What the?"  Erik asked, shocked that his power hadn't worked as planned.  The TV approached us again, and the general said, "You actually think I'd allow you to escape so easily?  I knew you might pull a stunt like that.  That's why we designed the wall so that, whenever you tried to turn into electricity, the wall would give off a field of negative ions.  Since electricity is negatively charged, you would be repelled from the wall as soon as you tried to escape!"  The general explained, and then the TV floated away.  I growled angrily at it.  I generated a small ball of electricity in my hand, and knocked the TV right out of the sky.  "Bull's eye."  I said.  O: What does the eye of a bull got to do with this?  ; It’s another figure of speech.  ; Ah, I see.  What does it mean?  ; It means that I hit my target.    I would have continued talking (or thinking) to Ozad, but I spotted some GHA troops a few hundred yards away from us.  Fortunately, they hadn't seen us.  "Guys, maybe we should lay low for a bit."  I said, loud enough only to be heard by Grandpa, Lauren, and Erik.  "I know of a place where we could go that none in the city know about it.  Not even the GHA."  Grandpa said.  "Where?" the 3 of us asked in unison.  "Folla me."  Grandpa said.    After a minute of walking, we stopped in the middle of the road.  Fortunately, no one was driving today.  "Uh, why do we stop?"  I asked.  Grandpa looked around in every direction, and then knelt down.  He knocked on a manhole cover, and the rhythm sounded like that of 'shave and a hair cut:  2 bits!'  Suddenly, the man hole cover slid away from the hole, and we could see the sewer.  The smell was awful, to say the least.  "Oh, yuck!  I'm not going in there!"  Lauren exclaimed, plugging her nose.  My grandpa jumped in, and called out to us.  I looked down into the hole and said, "But grandpa!  It's gross down there!"  "Fine, fine.  Betty, get over here!"  Grandpa shouted.  Who's Betty?    Suddenly, a girl about my age walked over to my grandpa.  She had brown hair and brown eyes, and her skin was incredibly pail. "Betty, could you convince these kids to come down here?"  Grandpa asked the girl.  "Okay."  She said, and started climbing the ladder.  She squinted, apparently not used to the bright sun light.  "Hello."  She said, as she crawled out.  "Hi."  I replied.  "EEE."  Lauren said, waving hello.  "Hey."  Erik said.  "Come down.  It's safer."  Betty said, and then went back down.  I suddenly felt compelled to obey.  It was as if she had some sort of spell on me.  I climbed down, and was followed by Lauren and Erik.  How had she convinced us so easily?  "I thought ya said you wouldn't come down here, young lass."  Grandpa said to Lauren.  "I changed my mind."  Lauren replied.  "Well, anyways, Betty, these 3 are Will, Lauren, and Erik."  Grandpa introduced us.  "Will, Lauren, Erik, this is Betty.  She's a Geneton:  She can manipulate people's thoughts and actions."  Grandpa said.  "Typical woman."  Erik muttered.  Lauren lifted her hand to hit Erik on the back of the head, but Betty beat her to the punch.  (Or hit, or smack, or whatever!)  I could already tell Lauren and Betty would get along just fine.    Suddenly, the manhole lid covered the hole by itself!  "What the?"  I asked.  "Don't be worryin.  It always does that."  Grandpa assured me.  "Sam!  Light please!"  Grandpa exclaimed.  I heard footsteps approaching, and I could barely make out the outline of a boy about a year older than me.  Suddenly, he started glowing.  "He's a Geneton, too."  Grandpa said.  "Sam, this is Will, Lauren, and Erik.  Will, Lauren, Erik, this is Sam."  He introduced us.  "Hey there!" Sam greeted us.  His voice was loud and nasally.  "Hi."  I answered.  "EEE."  "Hey."  "Oh, and it looks like the lovely Betty is joining us today!"  Sam said, looking at Betty.  She just rolled her eyes at him.  "You know, you look lovely under the pale moon light... and under my light, too."  Sam said, trying to sound smooth.  "For the 50th time, Sam, I am NOT going out with you."  Betty said.  "Oh, come on!  I didn't even ask you yet!"  Sam exclaimed.  His voice was already really annoying.  "He reminds me of Sam Williams from Tucson!"  Lauren whispered.  "Agreed."  I replied.  "You were about to."  Betty said.  "Oi, ya kids are gonna drive me crazy.  Let's just go."  Grandpa said, getting impatient.  "But grandpa!  It smells!"  I complained.  Grandpa groaned, and shouted, "Hey, Serenity!  Get over here!"    Suddenly, I heard humming and foot steps approaching.  Accept they weren't walking or running; they were skipping.  An amazing smell filled my nostrils:  Roses, honey, chocolate, and cotton candy, all combined perfectly to create the most wonderful aroma.  "Hello, peoples!  Isn't it just a lovely day today?  I feel as though nothing could possibly go wrong!"  The girl exclaimed.  She had on a pink dress, and had blond hair and blue eyes.  "Hey, my name's Will."  I introduced myself.  "Hello there!  Well, aren't you a cutie?"  She asked, giggling a bit.  I blushed.  "EEE.  I'm Lauren."  Lauren said.  "Hi!  It's so nice to meet you!  Hey, how do you get your hair like that?  It makes you look so pretty!"  Serenity exclaimed.  "Thanks."  Lauren replied.  "Hey.  Name's Erik."  Erik introduced himself.  "Oh, I love that name so much!"  Serenity said.  "Thanks... You smell pretty."  Erik said.  Serenity giggled and blushed.  "This is Serenity.  She can smell like anything, and I mean ANYTHING.  Don't get er mad.  She might make yer room smell worse than anythin you ever smelt before."  Grandpa warned.  "I wouldn't do such a thing!"  Serenity defended herself.  "Oh really?"  Sam asked.  "Well, I suppose... but I wouldn't do that to you guys!  We're gonna be best friends!"  Serenity exclaimed, and grabbed us all in a huge hug.  She had slightly longer arms than most girls her height.  "You're... choking... me..."  I squealed.  "Yeah... need... air..."  Lauren complained.  "Help...  can't... breath!"  Erik choked.  "Oh, sorry!"  Serenity said, backing away, blushing, and smiling.  W:  I never thought it possible, but she's even weirder than Lauren!  ; I’ve seen weirder.  ; You’re joking, right?  ; No.  "That's okay."  We all said, after gasping for air.  "Now, would ya kids PLEASE stop yer chattin away so we can be headin towards the base?!?"  Grandpa asked, sounding really tweaked at this point.    Lauren and Serenity were skipping side by side, and I was bored so I joined in with them.  Sam kept trying to ask Betty out, and she just kept saying no.  Erik and Grandpa walked behind us.  "So, did you see what happened on the surface?"  I asked Serenity.  "What happened on the surface?"  Betty, Sam, and Serenity asked in unison, suddenly sounding serious.  "The entire city has been surrounded by walls!  There's no way for anyone to get in or out!"  I exclaimed.  The 3 of them gasped in terror.  "How?!?"  Serenity asked, sadness filling her voice.  "The GHA."  I replied.  The 3 of them shuddered.  "We have to tell the council!  Something must be done!"  Betty exclaimed.  "Yeah!"  We all shouted.    "So, what's your power?"  Serenity asked to change the subject.  "I can manipulate and create electricity."  I replied.  "Wow!  That is soooooo cool!  I wish I had such an awesome power.  All I can do is smell good or bad, depending on how I feel.  I would LOVE to have a guy like you all to myself.  I would feel soooooo safe!"  Serenity exclaimed, giggling.  "Uh..."  "And, in my experience, I've learned that all the Genetons that had electric abilities were big, if you know what I mean."  She whispered, winking at me.  My eyes got really wide, and I decided to skip along next to Lauren instead.  Serenity was more than just weird.  She was a total slut!  How would she know that Genetons with electric abilities had big... well you get the idea  Anyways...    We soon came across a door with a double helix engraved onto it.  Betty opened the door, and we all walked in.  The door lead to a huge room, filled with thousands of people!  "Each and every one of them is a Geneton."  Grandpa said to me.                                                    To be continued...   **Author’s note:  If there is an ‘O:’ in front of a conversation between Ozad and Will, then Ozad starts the conversation.  If there’s a ‘W:’ in front, than Will starts the conversation.  If Ozad is talking and you see a semi-colon, it means that Will shall begin to speak, and vice versa.  Sorry if that was a bit confuzling!!!**
