Planet Mech [1] Intro

Science Created on 3-7-08 Views(69) Story Rating G

Deep in the backwaters of the Beta Quadrent.  A small planet called Earth.  2500 years in the future.  A perfect society.  War and disease are gone.  However, its people are troubled.  They've seen the future.  It looks grim.

"There's only one solution."  Said the fortune teller.  "What?"  Emperor Thyro asked.  "I don't know, I just know that there's only 1 solution.  Ask a scientist."  The fortune teller replied.  "Any particular scientist?"  The Emperor asked.  "Yes."  the fortune teller replied.  "Well?"  The Emperor asked.  "Well what?"  The fortune teller asked.  "What's the name?"  Thyro asked.  "What's who's name?"  The Fortune teller asked.  "The scientist!"  The Emperor exclaimed.  "What scientist?"  The fortune teller asked.  "THE ONE WITH THE SOLUTION!!!"  The Emperor shouted.  "Solution to what?"  The fortune teller asked.  "The problem you just foresaw."  The king replied.  "Oh, that scientist.  What about him?"  The fortune teller asked.  "WHAT'S HIS NAME?!?"  The Emperor was beginning to lose his patience.  "Who?"  The fortune teller asked.  "What... is... the... name... of... the... scientist... who.. has... the... solution... to... the... problem... you... foresaw?" The Emperor asked.  "Oh, why didn't you say so?  His name is Elliot Trodon."  The fortune teller replied.  "THANK YOU!!!"  The Emperor shouted, and then had his men bring over the scientist.

"You summoned me?"  Elliot asked as the guards brought him in.  "Yes.  Fortune Teller, show him the problem."  The Emperor demanded.  "What problem?"  The fortune teller asked.  "THE ONE YOU FORESAW!!!"  The King shouted.  "Ok.  Here it is:  The human race is doomed.  Yes, doomed.  Not like doomed like extinct, but more like doomed like doomed to degeneracy.  In 500 years, the humans will be stupid, violent, and weak."  The Fortune Teller explained.  "Don't those last 2 contradict?"  The scientist act.  "What last 2?"  The Fortune Teller asked.  "Violent and weak."  Elliot replied.  "What about them?"  The fortune teller asked.  "Don't they contradict each other?"  The scientist asked.  "What things contradict?"  The fortune teller asked.  "VIOLENT AND WEAK!!!"  Elliot shouted.  "What about them?"  The fortune teller asked.  "Don't... violent... and... weak... contradict... each... other?"  Elliot asked.  "Not at all!"  The fortune teller replied.  "Okay then.  What do you want me to do?"  Elliot asked.  "Come up with a solution of course!"  The Emperor replied.  "Oh, that's easy.  I've already got one!"  Elliot exclaimed.  "Well, what is it?"  Thyro asked.  "Come with me."  Elliot replied.

"Well, what do you have?"  The Emperor asked once they arived at the scientist's house.  "I'll show you.  Marvin, come here!"  Elliot demanded.  A large robot walked over to them and said, "I think I should let you know that I'm feeling VERY depressed right now."  "Well, here's something to get your mind off of it."  Elliot replied.  "It won't work, I have an acceptionally large mind."  Marvin said.  "Marvin." Elliot said.  "All right.  What do you want me to do?"  Marvin asked.  "Go up to the 3rd floor and get me Mech prototype 1, please."  Elliot said.  "Just that?  I'm not going to enjoy it."  Marvin said.  "Look, you piece of scrap.  He's not asking you to enjoy it, he's asking you to do it!"  The Emperor said.  "All right.  Here I go."  Marvin said, and started to walk off.  Then he stopped and asked, "I'm not getting you down, am I?  I wouldn't like to think I was getting anybody down."  "That's okay, Marvin.  Just do what comes naturally."  Elliot assured it.  "Are you sure I'm not getting you down?"  Marvin asked.  "Don't worry, Marvin.  It'll be okay."  Elliot reassured him.  "All right."  Marvin said, and then walked off.

"So, you like the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, eh?"  Thyro asked.  "Yup!"  Elliot replied.

A few minutes later, Marvin came back with a large cubicle in his hand.  "Here you go.  Now, do you want me to go rust in a corner or just fall apart where I stand?"  Marvin asked.  "Neither.  Go to your room and shut down for now.  I won't need anything else."  Elliot said.  "Okay."  Marvin replied, and then walked into the house.  "So, what's in there?"  Thyro asked.  Elliot punched a few keys on the Cubicle, and part of it slid down, revealing a red robotic suit.  It would cover the lower arms and hands, the shins and feet, the hip, the chest, and it had a band that went over the eyes.  "What is it?"  The Emperor asked.  "It's a mech.  That band is designed to amplify eye sight.  The leg and arm pieces are designed to amplify your strength, speed, agility, and endurance.  The chest and hip pieces are ment for self defense."  Elliot explained.  "How will it solve the stupidity and violence?"  The Emperor asked.  "The band also had a direct link to the brain.  It will increase intelligence, as well as filter violent thoughts."  Elliot replied.  "Is it safe?"  The Emperor asked.  "It has no CPU or radio link, so there's no way that it could take over your mind, nor anybody else."  Elliot said.

"Very good!  When shall we implement them?" Emperor Thyro asked.  "As soon as this gets into mass production.  I still need a patent."  Elliot replied.  "Patent granted.  Now, let's get this thing into mass production!"  The emperor exclaimed.

500 years later...

An alarm went off.  Someone was robbing the bank!  Apparently, some guys had defective violence filters.  Of course, the one who came to the scene was William Scott, chief of police.  "Please drop your weapons and come with me.  You have defective violence filters, and must have them repaired."  He said.  "Ha!  They send some punk kid to stop a robbery?  How pathetic!"  The leading robber exclaimed.  "I see you will not cooperate.  Let me ask you again.  Drop your weapons and come with me.  You have defective violence filters that must be repaired."  William said.  "Yeah right!  We ain't going anywhere, punk!"  Another robber said.  "This is your last warning.  Drop your weapons and come with me, or I will be forced to terminate you."  William threatened.  The robbers laughed at that last remark.  "Fine.  Have it your way."  William said.  His robotic arms became machine guns, and he opened fired.  Meanwhile, none of the other cyborgs even noticed what was going on!

The rest of the day went as planned, and William returned home as if nothing had happened.  As far as he was concerned, nothing had.  He crawled into his cubicle and shut down for the day.

(William's point of view.)

I woke up in quite a strange place.  "What the?  Where am I?  And for that matter, who am I?"  I asked.  Nothing seemed to make sence.  It was as though everything that had ever happened to me was... gone.  I couldn't remember anything!
