Sequerrian Pt. 17

Authors Comments: Okay, this one was a bit boring, but entertaining at the same time... :P it should get better in other chapters. I also had a hard time with wording my ideas, so if something confuses you, send me a message, and Ill answer anything. :D

Vincent snapped his fingers again, releasing Lacey from the spell. Akar’manak grinned as well as a beast like him could, and turned to look at her, “Are you able to speak again, my love?” His deathly whisper sounded genuinely curious and very happy.

She nodded, looking as him as if she had never met him, “W-What are you m-m-mimicking now?” She knew that most of his forms were mimics of something, or a variation of something, but it was obvious she had never seen a creature like that.

“Mimicking? You believe I am mimicking a different creature?” The smile dropped from his face, leaving a distressed look in its place.

Lacey nodded nervously again, and stared at the slimy fluid at his feet. The tail protruding from his bum ceased its motion and fell lifelessly to the floor, splashing the puddle lightly. She gulped and looked to me for the right words.

“This,” He gestured to his naked body and his dead looking face as he straightened to a full height of about seven feet, “Is what I naturally am, the real me, the ma- creature you came to know,” His “eyes” bored into her skull with the intensity of a raging fire. His whisper had become more dangerous as he spoke, “The one you said you loved.”

I walked to Lacey’s side, wrapping one arm around her shoulder; she looked at me, scared and shivering, as her eyes started to tear up, “I don’t know what to say, Fresia,” She mouthed to me at the real Akar’manak watched us.

“Change to a different form, friend, you are scaring her,” I looked up to him pleadingly; his tail surged back to life and thrashed wildly, scraping the floor and leaving gashes for the black liquid to pool into slowly, as he listened to me.

“This is the easiest form to hold, I feel pain in holding a different face or body in place,” He seemed to glare at us as he spoke, his teeth glistening with each word, “Do you wish to cause me pain, Lacey?” The way he said her name made her burst into tears. He still cared, but anger was strong in his tone, “I cover the pain for you, love, but I thought you genuinely cared about me, not about your old lover.”

“Akar’manak, change to the least painful figure you can muster, you are making her feel worse,” I walked Lacey over to a couch and sat her on it, my arm still around her shoulder, “Or, at least change your voice.”

He changed into a little bunny with long floppy ears, and wiggled his nose, “This form has no pain; no animal forms do,” He said in a high pitched, cute voice as the fluid seemed to soak into him, disappearing completely. He hopped over to us and propped himself on his hind legs, his front paws resting against Lacey’s skirt.

Lacey lifted her head and looked down at the cute little bunny before her, smiling only slightly at seeing his drastic change. She picked him up and cuddled him to her chest, crying a little as he purred as well as a bunny could, “Why do you cry? I have changed my form, love,” He said in the cutesy voice again.

“You had scared me… quite a lot,” She said quietly, stroking his ears, “Just warn me next time you decide to change into your ‘natural’ form. I will not be so shocked next time; I just was not expecting you to be…”

“A monster,” He cut in with a sad edge to his little rabbit voice, “I did not think about what your response to me would be; I should have known,” He proceeded to hop off her lap, and change into the black haired, blue eyed man again, “Nobody ever stays with me once I become me.

“I will not change back to being myself when you are near again, Lacey,” She looked up to him as his deep voice spoke to her, “If you ever are near again.”

“That is not what I-,” Akar’manak strode away, not listening to her as she tried to explain her meaning. She started to cry again, and I felt pain for her. She was such a delicate little thing, and sensitive, too.

“It’s not that I don’t love him anymore… and I do not care about that cheating scoundrel I used to love,” She sniffled slightly as her tears ceased, “He is so bull-headed; why does he think that because past acquaintances have left him after seeing the real him means that I plan to leave him as well?!” Her voice rose to about the volume of a scream.

“Calm down, maid,” Vincent said from his throne, sounding as if nothing had happened, “He is not worth your time; he is a hideous monster,” He was still bitter from the threat to his life.

“How the hell am I supposed to calm down?!” Lacey sprang from her chair, practically snarling the words, “I still love him and he has no damn idea!” She stormed out the room in the direction of Akar’manak’s departure, “Go screw a tree,” She said acidly as she pasted the Lord of Fairqwerest.

Vincent stood abruptly, glared at me, and strode into his chamber behind the throne, slamming the door behind him. Valeria, who was not that far behind me, touched my shoulder, smiling slightly, and walked into the chamber after Vincent, closing the door lightly. I could hear their voices speaking quietly, yet heatedly, and closed my eyes.

What was wrong with this world?! Everything seemed to go wrong right when it seemed alright. First I get attacked, then I get a creepy dress, Vincent tries to make out with me like some common whore just after that, Akar’manak and Lacey were having problems now, and I was left to think of how I would save my friends from at evil duchess. How could this be: that I am the one who decides what happens to everyone in a world I did not even know existed a couple days ago?

An even better question arose in my head: why did I sneak into the castle in the first place? I could have asked around the village for some healthy food for my brother and sister; I never should have gone in the castle. But if I had not gone into the castle, then I would not have met Henry.

I felt a pair of hands on mine, and opened my eyes to see Henry kneeling before me, “Everything will be alright in the end,” Was all he could say before I burst into tears from my overwhelming burden.
