I emerged later after having a conversation with Aquarloftyne, and oddly enough, Vincent’s nose was already repaired. I looked over at Valeria, seeing a smug smile on her lips, and I knew it was her doing. I looked back to Vincent, and he had a smile on his face as he looked at me, “Even though it frightened me immensely, I like women who can pull a punch.”

I rolled my eyes and walked over to Henry, “When do you wish to leave?”

An exasperated sigh came from behind me, and Vincent turned me toward him, “You will not be leaving until you are fully healed,” He looked me up and down appraisingly, a smile slowly coming to him “And I do believe that I enjoy you being in bandages, they are becoming of you.”

I glared at him and turned back to the confused and obviously irritated Henry, “So, what time do you believe is best for us to pay a visit to that Witch?”

Again, Vincent turned me to him, “You still are not healed enough, you will wait until fully well,” He said it with such authority that he thought he was the decision maker. What was I now, his concubine? I was not his to boss around.

“She is not one of your servants to order like a common animal, Vincent,” Henry said angrily, ripping me from Vincent’s grasp, “She is her own person, she will decide when she is healthy enough to travel.”

Vincent took me from Henry violently, causing me to gasp from the pain of his strength, “She is within my castle, and I am the Lord here. You shall not tell me who I can and cannot order, and she is not yours to control either.”

Their stupid possessive argument carried on for another few minutes before Valeria decided to intercede. She pulled me away from the men, my arms stinging and raw from their violent grabbing, “You two need to leave this young girl alone! She is a person, not an object, and I think it will do you both good to finally realize that,” She looked at me tenderly, like a grandmother, and smiled once more before turning back to the shocked Henry and Vincent, “And, look at her, she is as pale as a sheet, and her arms arm raw, shame on you both.”

Valeria turned and led me, with an arm around my shoulder, out of the room to a throne room. It was magnificent, and very regal, but I paid no attention to the décor, for I was happy to have escaped the idiots. Akarmanak and the little maid, who I, still, had not acquired a name for her, followed as the bellowing continued within the other room.

“Are they still fighting so? Did they not listen to you, Valeria?” I looked to her angrily, knowing full well that they were still mad that I was not a pathetic little woman who needed a man to watch over her and tell her what to do and not to do.

“They listened, but I believe they are arguing now about who was the one who hurt you the most,” The little maid said, pointing to my arms of which I was rubbing.

“Excuse me, but I still do not have your name,” I said, smiling at her as she stood even closer to Akar’manak, of who was still holding the black haired, blued eyed man disguise.

“Lacey, milady, Lacey is my name,” She said, her courage coming to her as she found she was among friends, not masters.

“Well, Lacey, I am glad to have formally met you at last,” I said, curtsying as low as I could, eliciting a giggle from her and her new boyfriend.

We all started to laugh, but then I held up a hand for silence. What was amazing about it was that there was true silence, no noise coming from within the other room. I smiled and walked back toward the glossy maple door and took a peek inside. The two sat across the room from each other, throwing daggers with their eyes at each other.

“So you boys are done ranting on about useless points of conversation?” I laughed as they looked toward me and then back to each other, the glare deepening once they met each other’s eyes.

“Well then,” I stepped into the room and gestured to my bound body, “Since I would appreciate leaving as soon as possible to save my friend, I would like my dress back.”

“We do not have it anymore, Fresia. In case you did not notice with your whole body bound as such, once you were brought here, your dress was not much more than rags.”

I gasped as I thought of what had happed to my dress. It was last dress my mother had ever made for me before she died, and it was gone. The light brown wool fabric that was so soft, at least for wool, and the cream accents and pockets were gone, shredded. I almost cried before I thought of how much it had been through, and how long it had lasted me anyways; it had been like a travelling companion, and now it had a valiant end. It deserved that much, though I would still always think of it, even when I grew old.

“Oh,” I said quietly as I thought about my beloved dress, “May I have another dress then please?” I would need more than what I was wearing now in order to help my friends.

“In my chambers, there is a dress that will fit you perfectly,” Vincent smiled at me and winked, “I had it made for you when you were injured; it is magical, in a way: it cannot be ripped or dirtied. It is impervious to all physical means of damage. I thought you could use it.”

“Um, thank you?” I turned and rushed out of the room, looking to Valeria for directions to his chambers.

She had heard our conversation, for she was laughing lightly, and pointed to a set of oak doors just behind the throne itself. I walked to it, feeling suddenly self-conscious for no reason, and slipped inside quickly. The dress I saw on the large king sized bed was totally inappropriate for travel and adventure; good thing it was impervious to all physical damage, or this thing would be in ribbons before the journey was over.
