     I stared at the humongous dragon as she spoke, quite shocked at the fact that she could speak at all. That was when I noticed that her long snout was not moving a bit; the speech was in my mind. Valeria just stared at me as I felt my mouth fall agape, "Talk to me?"

     "Why else would I have stopped such an insignificant creature such as yourslef and say that I wanted to speak with you if I really did not want to?" The dragon shook slightly, making me jump.

     "You... but... dragons are not supposed to be able to talk!" I hissed at her, trying to wrap my own mind around the impossible idea. Dragon, and most animals for that fact, did not have the snout or jaw structure to talk, so all of this was impossible.

     Just then I did a childish thing, I covered my ears and fell to my knees on the floor. "You are not supposed to be able to talk, no..." I shook my head, totally disregarding that her mouth had never moved. "No, I am just going crazy."

     Valeria puffed two rings of smoke from her nostrils and onto me. This smoke hit me like solid steel and lifted me into the air so I was at eye level with the beast, "Girl, do you see my mouth moving? I do believe you are smart enough to know what is happening here, but you will not believe your own eyes."

     I struggled to break free from the rings, but they held me fast. I finally relaxed and looked up at the dragon, keeping the realization that this was all real. Her eyes held a mixture of frustration and pity, and it made me angry, "Why would you like to talk to me then, you feral, ugly beast?" She scowled at me but seemed to be deep in thought.

     "You cannot be the one we were released for. You are too emotional, too confused, too..." She looked me over for a second, "Small."

     "What are you talking about, Valeria?" I was getting so very confused and this confounded dragon was not helping my case one ounce; not to mention the fact that I was worried about what Vincent was doing to Henry. Who knows what that man might do to him... especially if Henry was still unconcious.

     "Ah, you do not know... that is why I want to talk to you girl," She smiled as well as a dragon can, which looks more like she is baring her teeth to attack, "You are the one to save our world, girl."

     "Save your... you have to be kidding me. I am sorry, but I can barely help my baby brother and sister. I can barely get enough food to last us for one night. I do not even have the family that would be needed to have someone look after the children if I have to leave to 'save your world'. I am only one person, and barely that," I sounded really whiny and a bit of a complainer. I was embarrassing myself this whole day so far.

     "Why else would a window to your world open and let us here to this very place unless you were worthy of our world?" Valeria sounded angry and hurt at my words. She must have thought that I sounded whiny, too.

     "A window to my world? Do you mean that tapestry down one of the previous halls?" Valeria bobbed her head in an affirmative answer and I smiled like a cat that had caught a mouse, "You must be mistaken, dragon, that is a woven piece of art made from multy-colored thread. It is no window." I felt as if I had just won a trophy, becuase I sounded much smarter than Valeria.

     "Have you spent your whole life next that 'tapestry' to see if it stays the same way? These windows which your world has called 'tapestries' are made by master craftsmen who know that then are creating a window to our world. He places creatures he knows exist in that world onto the tapestry, for we have a purpose. Most times it is to watch over you humans and observe your work, but we may have a need for help at other times. That is where you come in. When Fairqwerest needs assistance, the last two people to walk by a preordained window are the saviors. You and the Prince Henry are the last two humans to have walked by that window, thus the reason we have been released to retrieve you for your duties," The smile fell from my face instantly, and I started to stare at the ground, defeated.

     The smoke rings descended, still holding me, to the ground and vanished. Valeria used her toothy smile again and spoke one last time, "I do think we should go in and check on the male savior of Fairqwerest, donot you think?"

     "I guess we should..." I slumped away from the dragon and heard a noise that sounded like leaves in the wind. I turned to see what had happened to Valeria, and all I saw was an elderly woman wearing blue silk robes.

     "Wh-what happened to Valeria?" I stared evilly at the woman, ready to hurt her if she did anything mean to the poor dragon.

     "Why, Fresia, I am Valeria. I would be quite unnable to enter that banquet room if I was still in my natural dragon form, would I not?" I was beginning to like this dragon a whole lot. She had spunk.

     ***** Sorry this took so long and it's short; I had to catch up on what it was about, and then had to figure out something to add to the story. Hope you liked! :D*****
