Chapter 23

The police burst through the doors just as they escaped through an open window. A neighbor had tipped them on a disturbance in the house next door; but the scene they came on was something none of them thought they’d never lay eyes on.

Time seemed to slow as the first officers entered the gore covered room. White walls stood out from the black furniture and in the corner of the room the clean walls were covered in blood and organs. Two bodies, one human – one wolf. Caution tape galore, the police quarantined the house and talked with officer Mason and Hanover.

"Just another rabid animal gone loose. This case is shot to hell Mason, theres nothing more to look into and now we’ve got another body to show to their parents." Hanover jotted down a few notes and then threw the notepad down in fury. I hate when shit like this happens, some poor innocent boy is mercilessly murdered by none other than a mangy mutt.

"Listen…let's just get some coffee, have the boys clean this up, and move on. There’s nothing more that any of us can do."

"Maybe your right. Let’s get out of here."

A scene investigator picked up the notepad and dropped it in the trash. All the murders are blamed on a rabid wolf. The case seemed to end but there was another suspicious occurrence. A teenage boy had gone missing, name: Damien Lustered, Age: 17 years old. That, and not to mention the murders kept happening even after we found the culprit wolf. Send memo to missing services about the boy. News broadcast about staying indoors due to rapid mutt.

A man in a dark leather coat picked up the memo pad and chuckled. Humans. He let out a claw and shredded it to bits and laughed as he left the scene. As he walked out into the sunlight of a beautiful afternoon he discarded the scroll that had lead him to this putrid town and basked in the sunlight. It touched his dark brown eyes and gave them the eerie glow of a predator who would soon as kill you then look at you.

Stupid humans never find the killer, they blame it on the first suspecting thing in sight. I feel that I deserve some credit; hard as it was luring away Audrey…Natalie was just a bonus. Somehow though it felt great to kill, so naturally, I couldn’t help myself. One human lead to another which lead to a pack of wolves I’d had no idea about and breaking them apart was tantalizingly easy. Sweetly enough I shall reap the benefits of being free to do more killing but it hurts not to be recognized for my handiwork. Hmm…whatever.

He laughed as he watched the scroll accusing Audrey Finch of being a trespasser float down the street side walk. Gregory jumped over a park fence and decided to get a bite to eat. He lured a child away from the others and had a nice little lunch.
