FIRST DRAFT
JULY 30TH, 2007
INT. EMILY’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Soft rock wafts from the stereo as...
EMILY, an attractive 18-year-old, sits at her desk, poring over her speech. Her fingers tap restlessly. Her attention turns to a book on the night stand: ASTRAL PROJECTION.
She picks up the book, takes it to the bed, flips through several pages. Gets to the last page. Studies it a bit, then closes the book. Her mind reels with thought, with the possibilities.
She flips onto her back, eyes focused on the ceiling fan above her. She fixates on it. Her eyes are unblinking, then they become heavy and slowly close. As Emily drifts into sleep, we begin...
DREAM SEQUENCE
EXT. HIGH ABOVE EARTH – NIGHT
Emily high above earth...up with the clouds...just below the full moon...and she’s moving quick...at the speed of sound! There, ahead, is a glowing white circle of light.
Emily rushes toward it, then completely disappears into it. Now we’re in...
EXT. KINGDOM OF ZEN - DAY
She slowly drifts towards the ground. The trees have stalks of sleeping faces with branches of angel’s wings. A lake hovered in mid air with beams of pink light striking through reflecting sparkles of turquoise while silver mermaids swim in harmonious splendor.
Gently landing on golden grass, she stares at the hovering lake. One of the mermaids swims over to her. She peeks her head out of the water. Emily's legs tremble, utter amazement across her face. Arms resting at her side, she loses balance, falls to the grass in wonder.
ALETEHA
How have you come to Zen?
Froze with fear, she gasps for a breath. Her face goes pale. She clutches the grass forcing her strength to crawl backward in a panic. The mermaid's eyes are emerald and the light illuminates her silver skin. Hair white as snow, her ears come to a soft point above a crown with several jewels and gems of all colors. Alethea glares at her.
EMILY
(She takes a deep breath)
....uh...
Fades to black.
INT. BEDROOM - DAWN
ANN
Em, it's getting late.
She lays folded clothes on a dresser situated by a closet. Ann, in her late 40's, dressed in a Park Avenue suit, hair slicked back into a braided bun.
EMILY
What? No! Mom, I was there! I was finally there!
She sits up.
ANN
Where?
EMILY
Another world. With a lake that floated in the air.......and mermaids!
ANN
Well, that sounds lovely dear. But you better get your head out of the clouds, you need to focus on your Doctorial speech this week. It's comin up ya know. Are you ready?
EMILY
Yeah, mom. I finished it last night but......You don't understand. It was like I WAS there... really.
She walks over to the dresser. She selects her favorite faded jeans and ball cap.
ANN
Must have been a nice place.
She walks out.
Emily stares at herself in the mirror situated by a window with light green curtains. She brushes her long brown hair. As she pulls her hair into a ponytail, a light from behind her flashes across the room. She turns to look and sees nothing. Her attention back to the mirror, the mermaid stares back at her. Emily gasps with surprise. She drops both her brush and her jaw. She starts backing up with fear.
ALETHEA
You have disrupted the balance of our world. You must return bringing three representing qualities of three elements; your world is now in mortal danger, you must return.
Emily rubs her eyes and looks again. The mermaid is gone. A few moments pass as she investigates her surroundings.
DISTANT MAN VOICE
Em! C'mon....you're gonna be late!
She finishes buttoning her shirt and goes downstairs to the kitchen where her parents and younger brother are eating breakfast.
INT. KITCHEN- DAY
The house is an older colonial style home with deep red draperies and Chinese rugs. A blend of Romanian era and Chinese culture, diligently decorated with plant life and water fountains. Jade sits at the table eating a muffin.
JADE
Have another wild dream Em? (He snickers)
17, athletic.
EMILY
Shut up Jade. Mom, why do you always have to discuss everything with this family?
She walks over to the refrigerator and pours a glass of OJ.
ANN
Oh, Em, what’s the big deal?
She pours another cup of coffee.
WAYNE
You were always the imaginative one Em.
Her father proclaims folding the morning paper. Wayne mid 40's, average, graying, heavyset.
Jade begins laughing at her. She walks over and teasingly slaps him over the head.
JADE
You're the imaginative one.
He mimics his dad in a sarcastic way.
EMILY
Shut up dork. I'm outa here.
She pulls her backpack over her shoulder and passes Jade toward the back door.
WAYNE
Aren't ya gonna eat anything?
EMILY
Yeah, I'll stop on the way.
ANN
Well make sure you do, you can't concentrate on an empty stomach!
EXT. STREET- DAY
The neighborhood buzzes with traffic and school kids. She pulls out of the driveway in her white 90's Honda and slowly drives to the stop sign in the upper- middle class suburban area. Children cross the street in front of her. She turns up 90's rock. Sitting at the stop sign, she looks at a very tall magnolia tree across the street. A strange creature peeks out at her from the upper portion of the branches. She leans in to get a closer look, eyebrows narrowed. He wears a little hat with large rounded ears in odd proportion to his head. It smiles at her. Horns begin honking at her. She accelerates and watches as it disappears into the leaves. She speeds off shaking her head.
EXT. HIGHSCHOOL- DAY
She arrives at her high school. She sees her two friends standing by an oak tree near the office. She parks her car. She walks over toward them.
LOUD MIXES OF MUSIC FROM THE PARKING LOT (O.S.)
LONI
Em! Hey Em! Over here!
She welcomes her over. LONI, attractive petite, senior, dressed with a mini skirt and yellow tube top.
Emily walks towards them.
Teens scattered about huddled into groups of three to four.
SETH
Hey Em!
SETH attractive senior, tall, shoulder length dark hair, represents an 80’s rocker and conservative type, wearing holy jeans and studded belt with a button shirt. Emily approaches.
EMILY
Hey guys.
She smiles.
LONI
So, is everything still a go for this weekend?
EMILY
Well, yeah, I guess.
SETH
Whadya mean? We been plannin this for ages.
LONI
Yea, aren't ya excited? It's our graduation trip. The hike of a lifetime! We're finally gonna summit!
EMILY
Yeah, I know. It's just.........somthin happened this morning.
SETH
What?
LONI
Yea, what? Spit it out girl!
EMILY
Well,.....ok, look, I been studying this book on astral projection.
SETH
Yea? And.........?
They both listened intently.
EMILY
Well, I didn't think it would work. But it did. I went to some other place.
SETH
You mean you left your body? An outa body experience?
LONI
Oh, Em. Why are ya messin with that for? You shouldn't take meta-physics so seriously.
SETH
Wait, Loni! So, wadya see?
EMILY
There were mermaids and a floating lake, trees with faces and angel’s wings for branches………..”
SETH
Shut up! Really?
He expresses amazement.
EMILY
But then………… it got pretty freaky. When I was brushing my hair this morning, the mermaid I saw appeared in the mirror. She said somethin about screwing up their balance……….and then this creature thing or something was in the old magnolia at the stop sign on my way here, like just now!
LONI
That's a bit unbelievable. I mean, it’s not that I don't believe you but, I just think maybe your mind got away from ya after somethin like that.
SETH
I think it's awesome! I wanna try it.
EMILY
Yea, maybe. It's probably nothin.
She shrugs it off.
THE BELL RINGS (O.S.)
They say goodbye and walk off toward the school.
EXT. KITCHEN - DAY
Wayne and Ann finish up breakfast. Wayne ties his tie while Ann rinses the dishes.
ANN
So, did you think about yesterday?
WAYNE
Ann, ... (he turns her around to him and looks sternly into her eyes) look, I know I have some things to work out...
ANN
No! Wayne! It's never going to change. You've become who you are and I have become who I am. People just don't change. They are who they are Wayne. And face it, we're two different people.
She walks away talking.
WAYNE
What about the kids?
He follows her, stops at the entry way.
ANN
They'll adapt.
She grabs her leather briefcase from the couch and anxiously heads toward the front door.
WAYNE
I think we should give it more time Ann! It's just a phase.
ANN
You're right Wayne. You were just a phase.
She opens the door and slams it behind her.
WAYNE
Yeah, a phase!.....for 23 fuckin years!!!?
He slaps their wedding picture off the wall shattering the glass. He looks down at it sorrowful.
INT. OUTDOOR EQIPMENT STORE - DAY
Wayne swings the glass door open and hurriedly walks toward the back office.
CASHIER
Good morning Mr. Grissom.
The perky young girl stands at the register, CASHIER, early 20's.
WAYNE
Morning Sandra.
He pretends he's in a good mood.
INT. OFFICE - DAY
WAYNE GRISSOM - BUSINESS OWNER on his door.
KEVIN
(Stands knocking.)
WAYNE
What is it?!
Kevin walks in, KEVIN, mid 40's, good looking guy, a high school friend and co-owner.
WAYNE
Hey, Kev. What's up?
KEVIN
Man, what's up your ass?
He plops on a chair adjacent to him, high energy.
WAYNE
oh.... I had another fight with Ann.
KEVIN
She still wantin a divorce huh?
WAYNE
Yeah.... (he shrugs)... Hey, did we all grow to be different? I mean, when did we lose the visions we had back in high school.
KEVIN
I hate to brake it to ya, but Ann is the one who lost the vision. You can't go beatin yourself up over this. She split to Harvard and came back a different person. It's only on a blue moon she's the ol' Ann.
WAYNE
Yeah, but 23 years of marriage? I don't get it.
KEVIN
I think she'll come around. Maybe she needs this to figure out what she really has.
WAYNE
Well, this is the worst timing. Emily's graduation the end of the week, their hike to Mt. Shasta has been planned since they were in junior high. They don't need to be worryin about us, it's dangerous up there, you know that. How many times did we almost plunder to our death on the ice slopes?
KEVIN
Look, you trained `em, and you're the best. They know all the skills they need. Besides, they're taking a safe route. Just keep it under wrap for a while, it'll work out. C'mon man, we got a business to run.
WAYNE
yeah, yeah, yeah alright alright.
They both walk out to assist customers.
INT. HOUSE- DAY
Emily walks in finding the broken picture on the floor. She sets it in a drawer. Staring at it, flashes of childhood flood her mind....
MEMORY SEQUENCE
EXT. BACKYARD- DAY
Three year old Emily swings in the tire swing while dad pushes her. The sunshine is blocked with her dad's face. Her dad smiles.
INT. KITCHEN- DAY
8 year old Emily and 7 year old Jade color Easter Eggs. Newspaper on the floor with cups of colored water. Mom and dad join them. Mom paints a mustache above her lip, everyone laughs.
EXT. SIDEWALK- DAY
8 year old Emily runs up to dad crying with a bleeding elbow. She wears knee pads and a helmet. Dad comforts her then picks her up and swings her around. She laughs away the tears.
INT. BEDROOM- NIGHT
13 year old Emily cries in her mother's arms.
ANN
Everything always comes together sweetheart. This will pass, it's ok.
She caresses her hair.....WE COME TO....
INT. HALLWAY- DAY
Emily runs up stairs toward her bedroom. Her eyes are flooded with silent tears.
INT. BEDROOM- DAY
Emily plops on her bed saddened.
EMILY
I don't want to be here.
She falls back listlessly. Closing her eyes, she begins to breathe methodically. Breathing; slower and slower in through the nose, counting 1, 2, 3, and 4 out slowly; Again and again. O.S. Vibrations begin to probe higher and lower. A ghost-like image rolls out of her. She sits up facing toward the ceiling. Her eyes are fixed upward, she brings her arms up. Her ghostly body takes off, shooting her through a tunnel.
She lands on her feet looking for the mermaid. The lake hovers. She does not see her. Then, a tap on her shoulder. The mermaid stands behind her. She turns to look, taking a deep breath.
EMILY
Are you going to hurt me?
ALETHEA
No. Why have you come? What is your name?
Her fish body is gone. She has long legs and a flowing silver gown.
EMILY
My name is Emily. I don't know how I got here. I was experimenting with astral projection.
ALETHEA
Astral?
Surprise casts over her face.
EMILY
Yes, it's when...
ALETHEA
I know what it is young girl. It was written this day would come. Your presence here has shifted our balance. Your world is in an ever lasting war. Things must be what they are. We cannot have good without evil. We are the core of which balances the universe. All of its chaos and goodness comes from here, influencing you humans. Now that you have come, our world is now experiencing an evil unspeakable. Your world will suffer greatly unless you restore us as before,... as it should be,... as it is meant to be.
EMILY
What do you mean? What should I do?
She's curious.
ALETHEA
You must return with the other three. Destiny has brought you, your brother and your friends together. Do you not wonder why the intense connection between you? You’re friends, Loni is Air, Seth is Earth and your brother is Water....You are Fire. The prophecy is truth. You see, there are forces at large now, even more than we can handle.
EMILY
Air, water, earth, fire? I don't understand.
ALETHEA
All will be answered after you come. (She leans in and whispers) Lord Dhonn has wakened. He is the three mouthed, three headed, and six eyed, who has a thousand senses, that demon, baleful to the world, the strongest Drug that Angra Mainyu created against the material world, to destroy the world of the good principle, he is preparing for what is to pass. He will not give up. He is a fallen angel and will not meet his fate without multitudes of enemy souls, souls from your world.
EMILY
Who is he?
Whispering.
ALETHEA
He is the twin brother of Ahura Mazda. They were twins, but Angra chose to be evil and Ahura for the causes of good. They are in constant battle and until now, they have been balanced with equality; each of them conquering the souls of the heavens and the other, Hades. Angra created Lord Dhonn to serve him and swallow up humans with the powers of his legion. Now, he knows time has shifted. It was written long ago a prophecy from Lady Lilith, a demon once human and married to Adam and was cast out from Eden because of her rebellion. The prophesy is…………
A SHUFFLE IN NEAR DISTANCE (O.S.)
The mermaid quickly looks to her left. She grabs Emily's arm and runs her toward a tree of faces. Emily trembles and runs trying to keep up. She breathes hard. They crawl under white moss next to the tree.
ALETEHA
Shhhh.............
EMILY
What is it? (she whispers)
She grabs her chest with a pounding heart.
ALETEHA
shhhhh............
She softly covers Emily's mouth. They look around with eyes wide open. Emily glances at the mermaid, her eyes turn to gold as she studies the lay of the land. Emily focuses in front of her. She moves the moss aside and gazes ahead. The horizon is fogged with rainbows and crests of dark green peaks. Rivers of light flows beyond the eye can see. Angels and great birds with human faces fly in the air.
ALETEHA
It is safe now.
She helps Emily out of the moss and on her feet.
ALETHEA
You must go now
EMILY
Wait! I don't even know your name.
She stands looking up at her.
ALETHEA
(She looks deep in her eyes)
I am Alethea, it means truth. You have to gather them and return.
EMILY
But, I’m not ready I have so many more questions. Why the elements
Alethea hesitates.
ALETHEA
Lord Malkuth. He is the sphere of the Earth and now losing his powers over Hades. He needs human relation to join with him now.
She waves her arms above Emily’s head and suddenly.....
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
WAYNE
Emily! Time for dinner!
Emily opens her eyes, she stares at the ceiling fan.
WAYNE
C'mon Em! Time to eat!
EMILY
Ok! I'm comin.
INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT
Entering the kitchen. Emily sits down at the table. The family is conversing with one another.
JADE
Pass the taters pop.
ANN
Potatoes, Jade, not taters.
WAYNE
What's the big deal? They're just taters.
ANN
Well, for you maybe. Jade got a C in English if you recall.
JADE
Geeze mom. Lighten up.
He serves a load of mashed potatoes.
WAYNE
So, Em, lookin forward to the big hike next week?
EMILY
...............huh?
WAYNE
The hike?
EMILY
Oh........yeah.
ANN
What's wrong sweetie?
EMILY
Nothin.............pass the chicken please.
Emily stares off across the table sadly.
JADE
I know what's wrong!
Teasingly
JADE (CONT)
She's gotta a crush on ol' Sethy boy.
EMILY
Shut up Jade!
She snaps.
WAYNE
Has somethin happened? You an Seth I mean?
EMILY
No!...........We're just friends. Always have been, always will be. Jade's stupid
ANN
Em, what's wrong with you tonight?
EMILY
Why does there always have to be somethin wrong with us? You're the ones with the problems.
She directs toward her parents. She gets up and leaves the room upset. Wayne and Ann look at each other expressions of guilt. Jade continues eating.
ANN
I'll go see.
She excuses herself from the table and leaves the kitchen.
INT. EMILY'S DOOR- NIGHT
MAD SCIENTIST reads on the door. Ann knocks lightly.
ANN
Em?... Sweetie, can I come in?
EMILY
Whatever mom.
Emily is laying face down on her bed. Ann sits next to her.
ANN
Em. I know the pressures of the senior year........
EMILY
Mom. It's not that. How can you be so oblivious?
ANN
What do you mean?
EMILY
You think I don't know what's going on with you and dad? I saw the broken picture.
Ann straightens her back, taking a deep breath.
ANN
You know, sometimes things don't always work out the way you plan them to be. Your dad and I just grew apart over the years.
Emily sits up looking at her mother.
EMILY
You know what? You're wrong. That's not the way you raised me to be. You once said things always come to together. Now you're going back on what you said. Grew apart mom? It's not growing apart, it's learning to grow together. Isn't that what marriage is?
ANN
Well, yes, but...........
EMILY
No, you don't get it. You and dad have always been something special and you're gonna ruin it. You both have your dreams. You're a successful attorney and dad owns his outdoor store with Uncle Kevin. You love challenges of people and dad ....challenges of mountains and brown trout. (They both softly laugh under the light tears and sniffles). Mom.............Don't you see? .....Dad's crazy ideas always made you laugh, his easygoing personality makes you remember to not take life so seriously....and your sense of responsibility and strong discipline keeps him grounded. We all still laugh at his dumb jokes. We laugh. But...........You. You forgot how to laugh..... You don't laugh anymore. ....You're the one whose growing apart.
ANN
Oh honey.........you should go into psychology not physics. (She Smiles)
Ann welcomes her and tucks her head in her chest, holding her.
INT. LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
Ann pours a glass of merlot from the bar. She takes a drink and lets out a long sigh. She strolls over to the mantel above the fireplace. She studies the random family pictures. Memories from high school, births of the kids, wedding, playtime, holidays. She takes another drink. Her eyes beads up with tears. She takes another drink.
ANN
(Whispers) What am I thinking?
INT.-PARENTS BEDRROM- NIGHT
Wayne lays in bed reading a hunting magazine. She walks from the bathroom in a nightgown and climbs into bed, laying there quietly until....
WAYNE
How's Em?
He puts his magazine away.
ANN
Well, ...............(she turns over to him) she's diffinatley inherited MY insight.
WAYNE
What do you mean?
ANN
Look, let's just say, she made me realize something. Something I seemed to have missed over the past few years.
WAYNE
Yeah?
Gloating
ANN
Oh, don't start! (Smiling)
WAYNE
You mean the all powerful, all knowing, Ann Grissom, District Attorney, Haaaarvard graduaaaate got stumped by her 18 year old?
ANN
Quit your teasing. No, ..but.... yes,.. well, she made me realize that my all too funny, high school graaaduate, business owner of trout lovers and hunting fools is exactly..............what....I need.
She cuddles into his chest.
WAYNE
Are you shittin me? You mean.............
ANN
I mean,... maybe I'm jumping the gun. But I think we should take our time and see what's around the corner.
WAYNE
...........I love you Raggedy Ann.
ANN
Me too.
Ann closes her eyes. Wayne looks up at the ceiling thanking God with tears swelling.
EXT. FRONT YARD-NIGHT
The willow tree dances with the breeze. Soft street lights cast shadows. The house rests quietly.
FOOTSTEPS TAPING ACROSS THE LAWN, CREEPY SNICKERING (O.S.) MUSIC
Enchanting song..............`TIS THE LIFE OF A HUMAN
SOULS POURDED OUT TO ME.......
A pebble is thrown at Emily's window.
INT. BEDROOM- NIGHT
Emily sleeps soundly.
PEBBLE THROWN AT THE WINDOW (O.S)
She wakes, startled.
PEBBLE THROWN AGAIN (O.S)
EMILY
Oh, Seth, not tonight.
PEBBLE THROWN AGAIN (O.S.)
She looks at her digital clock, 3:17 a.m.
EMILY
ok, ok.
She pout fully walks to the window and looks outside. Sees nothing. Rubbing her tired eyes, she focuses again. A shadow runs across the lawn, under the tree.
EMILY
Seth, don't you ever sleep?
She puts on a robe.
INT. HALLWAY- NIGHT
She peeks around the corner and sees her parents sleeping, father snoring. Sneaking past them, she makes her way down stairs.
INT. FRONTDOOR-NIGHT
She slowly opens the door, quenching her face as though it would help silent squeaking.
EXT. PORCH-NIGHT
She slips out, pulling the door closed behind her. She prances toward the tree.
EMILY
(whispering)
Seth? Seth? Quit playing around.
Standing under the tree, she hears a snickering. She looks around with panic. Long willow branches dance around her. Her breathing increases. Then...
STRANGE VOICE
Survana....Survaaaaana.
EMILY
Who's there?
SCRATCHING ON BARK (O.S)
She looks up, she sees the creature staring down at her with glowing eyes. He climbs down toward her.
EMILY
Oh my God!
She tries to run but is tranced in his eyes. Can't move, losing her breath.
STRANGE SONG (O.S.)
....`Tis the life of a human...
....`Tis a life for me....
Suddenly...
A glimpse of soft light shines behind it, in a flash Alethea appears. The creature quickly looks at her with surprise.
ALETHEA
...Back where you came!
The creature vaporizes. Emily catches her breath is if nearly drowning.
EMILY
What the hell was that!? And what is Survana?
She grabs her neck, sweat beads from her forehead, she's shaking.
Alethea takes physical form.
ALETHEA
That was a Maras. An evil creature of the night. They create nightmares in the sleeping human. I can't believe he has passed over already. That means more will come, creatures of all kinds. They cannot hurt humans yet. Only influence and draw their energies. Survana is your prophetic name.
EMILY
How did you get here?
ALETHEA
There are hundreds of portals opening up. But I can't stay, my energy is losing. I need to give you instruction. Have you talked to your friends and your brother?
EMILY
It didn't go over so well. How am I suppose to make them believe any of this?
ALETHEA
Your trip to the Sleeping Giant. You know it as Mount Shasta? That is the gateway to our world but is heavily guarded by the Lumerian’s. Thousands of years ago before the Mayan calendar, they hid their great city of Telon under the Sleeping Giant, so your race would not destroy what they have discovered.
EMILY
Telon? You mean that myth about Mount Shasta havin some underground city and glowing people?
ALETHEA
Yes. This world has thousands of myths and legends that are real, but your kind do not believe such things. Therefore they do not exist here.
EMILY
What did they discover?
ALETHEA
I cannot tell. It is forbidden. That's not important now. You must make your way up the mountain on the east side. There will be a cave, go inside and walk to the end. There will be a guide there to help the elements through. I will meet you in the city.
EMILY
Do you realize how big that mountain is? Where do I start?
ALETHEA
Follow the inside. I must go, I’m losing energy.
EMILY
But wait…………..
Alethea disappears.
INT. BEDROOM-NIGHT
Emily silently closes her bedroom door. She climbs back into bed, awake with wonder. Thrashes in her bed until she falls asleep.
SCREEN READS, FRIDAY NIGHT
INT.- DINNER TABLE-NIGHT
The table chatters with joy of post-graduation.
WAYNE
I wanna make a toast!
He stands with his glass of wine. Everyone's attention on him.
WAYNE
Ok, you guys...........hold up your cider.
EMILY
Oh, dad, this isn't necessary.
WAYNE
Sure it is! I'm so proud of you guys! Ok, here's to your bright futures, and I know you all will be a success at whatever you choose. Seth, you came a long way buddy! From barley making C's to a phenomenal B average...with the help of my foot up your ass once in a while! (everyone laughs) and Loni, I have watched you grow into a wonderful young lady, since you and Em were selling girl scout cookies, and getting into all sorts of mischief, you two gave me a cardio workout on a daily basis, so here's to my health! (more laughs) ok, ok, ..........Em. My sweet Em. You have been every father's dream. You made top of your senior class, (praises) encouraged many of your peers, and never gave up! You have your beauty from your mom and your smarts.........well, from me of course! (laughs and strong disagreements) anyway..........I can't forget my son. Even though your not graduating till next year, I just want to say you are the stars in my eyes dude! Keep on keepin on! and.....
EMILY
ok....dad. aren't ya done yet?
She is amused.
WAYNE
wait wait wait! One more thing..................and may the wind be at your backs on the slopes, and here's to the summit!!!
(Loud cheers)
They start passing side dishes. Wayne begins carving the prime rib. Ann talks to Loni. Seth and Jade talk. Emily sits back soaking herself in the moment.

Still dressed in formal wear, Seth, Loni and Jade in the backyard by the pool talking amongst each other. Emily walks over to them

They turn their attention to her.

Stunned with what they just heard, they sit back in utter amazement.

So, I'm water? That's not fair, I wanna to be fire.
EMILY

So what happens if we lose?

Look, I've made friends with Alethea, and she's trustworthy. Besides, do you wanna just sit back and let all we know get destroyed? Knowing we are the one's to make the difference? We have to do this you guys. So, are ya in?
She looks tensely at each of them
JADE

SETH

They turn their attention to Loni.

Good. So, we'll start from Bunny Hill and then up to Lake Helen, from there, we'll head east toward Sergeant’s Ridge. We should get some sleep. We gotta a big day tomorrow. Seth, dad said you could sleep in the study or with Jade.
JADE

SETH

He throws a quick stare at Emily. They retire inside.
INT.-LIVINGROOM-DAWN
EMILY
Hey, Jade, get your pack down here...we're leavin in 20.
She yells from the bottom of the stairs.
SETH
I'm gonna get some breakfast.
EMILY
I'll be in, in a sec.
She lugs her heavy backpack on the floor next to the front door. Loni bounces downstairs.
LONI
Are ya ready?
EMILY
Yeah, let's get some breakfast.
LONI
Where's Seth?
EMILY
He's already in there.
LONI
Figures! Where's there's food, there's Seth.
They laugh.
INT.-KITCHEN-DAWN
EMILY
Hey pop. Whachya got here? Smells good.
WAYNE
Blueberry scones, sweet sausage and my famous taters.
He flips the potatoes then arranges the plates on the table. They all sit down and start to eat.
ANN
Good morning everyone.
She strolls in toward the coffee pot, then over to Wayne for a kiss.
EMILY

He jolts in and pops down to eat.
WAYNE
Ok, you guys.....You have your GPS, rope, shock blanket, flashlights......

Pop! We got everything. How long we been plannin this? And how many trips have you taken us on? Dang, I been hiking since like, 2.
WAYNE
Yeah, I know, I know. But you haven't summated yet, and there's a lot to know, dangers, altitude sickness..., 80 to 100 mile per hour winds.
EMILY

ANN
Well, you guys don't get all big headed, be careful up there. Every year extremely proficient hikers go missing. We don't need to have to send a search team up after you because of hot headed egos. I want you safe.
SETH
Hey, we'll be ok.

Speakin of, we need to go if we're gonna get to Helen Lake before dark.
EXT. -DRIVEWAY-DAY
They all load into Emily's car. Parents stand and wave them off. Emily turns up the rock station. They pull out of the driveway, she looks over at her parents before putting it into drive, questioning if she'd ever see them again. She gives a wave and a smile and drives.
EXT. I5 NORTH, BRIDGE BAY - DAY
LONI
Em, I'm a bit scared of this thing.
EMILY
Yeah, me too.
SETH
Hey,... guys! Can't you see? Something like this never happens. I mean, you know there's more than this world than we know it. Than anyone knows. The government, NASA, all of it. It's come to us. Aren't you the least bit excited about it?
LONI

JADE
Yeah! I'm totally stoked!
EMILY
Well, it's gonna be quite a weekend.
They all look at each other. She turns up the radio again.
EXT.- BUNNY HILL - DAY
They begin their ascent up the trail, back packs on. Scattered hikers walk up and others come down with satisfied looks on their faces.
EXT. TRAIL - DAY
SETH
Let's take our first brake guys, it's been like 2 hours.
LONI
Yeah, sounds good.
EXT. ROCK NEXT TO TRAIL - DAY
Emily takes her canteen out and takes a drink. Jade is quietly looking up toward the summit. They find a place to sit.
JADE
You know, they say the Lumerian Legend really exists, and they say they're friendly, so what do we have to worry about?
SETH
Yeah, you guys remember that woman who climbed last year, said she met one. They did a whole article on it.
LONI
Yeah, but that's them. We don't know what this Lord Dhonn is capable of.
JADE
I bet they have armies of warriors.
EMILY
You guys. Let's just get up there.
They gather themselves and proceed up the trail.
EXT. - TRAIL- DAY
Soft music plays. Shots of them hiking up the trail. Occasional shots of each looking out to the horizon. The terrain becomes more and more difficult. Snow is now on the ground.
EXT. - - DUSK
The winds are 50 to 80 mph.

EXT. CAVE ENTRANCE-DAY
They all stand before the cave entrance, surprised and mystified.
EMILY
Well, c'mon.
She starts inward. Loni looks at Jade and starts inside. Seth follows close behind Emily.
INT. CAVE- DAY
The cave becomes dark. They all turn on flashlights. The cave is very quiet, filled with basalt and sharp rigid rocks. The walls are smooth as glass the deeper they go.
JADE
It's getting hard to breathe.
He pants.
SETH
It's like the air is getting sucked up.
They all start to breathe heavily.
LONI
How long is this thing?
EMILY
C'mon, I see something!
INT. END OF CAVE- DAY
Emily and Seth stand at a dead end wall. The other's catch up to her.
JADE
Em, this is it? Where are we suppose to go now? There's nothing here!
Emily studies the wall.
LONI
Now what?
EMILY
Shut up you guys! There's gotta be somethin here.
Jade sits down, out of breath.
(COTIN)
I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm dying.
He puts his head down and rests.
EMILY
Ok, look, let's just sit for a minute and rest. Then, we'll get out of here.
They all find a rock to sit on. No one talks for a while, they just look around and focus on catching their breath.
LONI
What if we turn our flashlights off?
SETH
Yeah! Maybe the lights are scaring them.
JADE
Scaring who Seth? There's no one here! Can't you see..........it's a dead end?
EMILY
No, maybe she's right. Just turn off your lights.
JADE
Whatever.
They turn off their lights and sit quietly. A soft glowing light begins to appear in front of them. The light grows larger until a figure starts to take form resembling a very tall human. It stood in the middle of them. A light within it lights the cave. He has long gold hair and wears a crown of rubies. His robe is laced with gold shimmering cloth and has clear blue eyes with flawless light bronze skin. All four of them drop their mouths in utter amazement.
SETH
Oh....my...God. Is this really happening?
KAEL
Do not fear me Elements. I am Kael, Alethea has told us about everything. The prophecy will be fulfilled. You need to fall away from your fear or you will not be permitted to enter the city.
KAEL, about 7 feet tall, very good looking, athletic, represents as a Warrior.
He takes necklaces out of his robe.
KAEL (CONTIN)
I have brought you these gems to wear around your neck. Ruby for fire.
He hands it to Emily

He hands it to Seth.

It is time. Leave your belongings. We must join together.
Kael extends his hands to form a circle with them. They shed their heavy backpacks and take hands. Lights begin to flicker and the ground slowly spirals, opening beneath them.
KAEL
Do not be afraid.
He smiles as he studies them one by one.
INT. JOURNEY SEQUENCE-DAY
Focus on hands squeezing. Then to...Levitating in a perfect circle with each other, they begin looking around. The walls start to become crystal blocks the further they descend. Their gems around their necks begin to glow. They float upward to their foreheads, a light from the color of each gem penetrates their foreheads in a flash and project a lightening-like ray of astounding color above them. The group begin positioning upside down, then take off with the speed of light. They swoop and curve around a vortex of tunnels
EMILY
I can't believe this is haaaaapening!
SETH
Yeahhhhhh!
LONI
(Screams in enthusiasm)
JADE
This is sooooo awsome!
KAEL
Take a deep breath Elements.
Flashes of brilliant colors bolt by. The crystals on the walls begin multiplying in size, shape and color. They start to laugh exhumed by the thrill of it with shouts of excitement and screams. Finally, their circle come to a slow and repositions upward. Their gems begin to dim and replace themselves back on their chests. They float gracefully and become even more astonished at the site. They descend toward a great city.
EXT. CITY OF TELON- DAY
Multitudes of glimmering lights of all colors spread over a sea of land surrounded by glowing blue waters and plush grasses. Hundreds of castle-like buildings stand. Hundreds of Lumerians within the city and levitating above the city. Some wear robes, others gowns of white pearl. As they float through the buildings, The walls appear as glaciers but with shades of lime-green; Smooth and glass-like. Keal release their hands and they land on the grass next to a building.
KAEL
You shall rest now. Come inside, this is where you will stay until your health restores.
EXT. TALL BUILDING-DAY
They stand in front of a building with no entrance. Kael waves his hand and an entrance opens. They follow him inside looking around in disbelief.
INT. KAEL'S HOME-DAY
Inside, they are greeted by a beautiful female Lumerian.
CADHLA
Hello, I am Cadhla.
CADHLA intoxicating in appearance, her eyes are amethyst and hair almost touching the ground, faint pink in color. Her gown, royal purple laced with gold trim.
KAEL
They will need replenishing soon. See that they are fed and rest. The sickness will soon follow. I'm going to the Counsel to announce their arrival. I'll be back late.
He kisses Cadhla good bye and walks toward the entrance. The four stand investigating their surroundings. Kael turns to them.
KAEL
You are in good hands.
JADE
Hey, later dude! That was one awesome ride man!
Kael looks at him and slightly smiles, amused by his youth.
EMILY
Jade! Show some respect.
KAEL
Don't worry. We have studied your kind for thousands of years. He means well. Good bye Elements. I will see you tomorrow.
He leaves.

How are you feeling?
EMILY
I'm fine, just .....well........
SETH
We're all a bit taken by all this.
CADHLA

CADHLA
It is time. You all will become very sick, but don't be frightened, it will pass and you will feel as you never have before. You will be the healthiest you've ever experienced. I will show you your room.
SETH
Great. Sounds like fun.
Under his breath to Jade.

Yeah, we just got here. Man, now we're gonna be sick. This sucks.

Yeah, I'm not feeling real good either. It's like I'm dizzy and nauseated.
They follow Cadhla out of the room.
INT. HALLWAY-NIGHT
CADHLA
Here's the wash room. And there's your room. You should wash first so the air toxins are cleansed away. Your clothes are in the wash room. There's robes there too. Please feel comfortable and make yourselves at home here. I will be checking in on you. The Healer will also stop in tomorrow.
EMILY

Everyone thanks her. She walks down the long hallway and into her sleeping room.
SETH
Loni why don't you go ahead and take the first shower. Em, let's go to the room. I'll keep you company.
JADE
Are ya gonna be ok Loni?
LONI
Yeah.
He gives her a hug.
They make their way to the room. Loni closes the wash room door.
INT. ROOM-NIGHT
Emily is laying down on one of the 4 beds. Seth is by her side. Jade is resting across the room on his bed.
SETH
It's ok. I'm right here sweetie.
EMILY
Seth, I'm not feeling good at all. It's not anything I've ever felt before. But I'm glad you're here with me.
SETH
Me too.
He strokes her hair away from her face and gazes at her. She looks up at him.
EMILY
Seth, ....Jade.
SETH
(he looks over at Jade)
He's not paying attention.
EMILY
What are we gonna do Seth? Three days? We haven't even began this thing yet. I didn't know we’d be gone for so long. What about our parents? They're gonna be so worried.
SETH
I know. But what else is there to do? It's up to us Em. If we don't do this you know what's gonna happen. Look..........don't worry yourself at least we have each other.
He kisses her on her forehead.
EMILY
Yeah, I know......I love you.
SETH
I love you too......I think I'm feelin it now.
He sits beside the bed next to her, holding her hand.
INT. WASH ROOM - NIGHT
Loni, wet, slips into a robe. She fingers through her hair and takes a deep breath. She tightens her eyes closed wish an anguish expression. She opens her eyes and looks at herself in the mirrored wall next to a huge fountain she bathed herself in, in the center of the room. She opens the door.
INT. ROOM -NIGHT
Loni walks in and finds Seth laying next to Emily. She quietly walks over to Jade who lay sleeping.
LONI
Jade..........(whispering)
She touches his shoulder.
JADE
(opening his eyes, he sees Loni's face over him)
Hey..... Are ya feelin any better?
LONI
No, not really.
JADE
I know. Come here.
He motions her to crawl in next to him. She glances over at Seth and Emily, then cradles next to him. He holds her.
JADE
We'll be ok Loni.
She closes her eyes momentarily.
LONI
I better get to my bed.
JADE
Ok, you should wake Em, so she can shower.
Loni walks over to Emily.
LONI
Em......Em.....
EMILY
Are you done?
LONI
Yeah. Why is Seth on the ground?
EMILY
Oh........we were talking. He must’ve fallen asleep.
(CONTIN)

She shakes his shoulder.
Seth.....
SETH
I must have fell asleep. Hey, Loni. Are you feeling better?
LONI
No. I'm getting worse. I'm going to go to sleep.
She crawls in her bed next to Emily. Seth gets up and looks at Emily.
EMILY
I'm going to shower.
SETH
Ok, wake me when you're done. I'm going to go lay down.
Emily leaves the room. Seth lays in his bed. Loni falls asleep. Jade lays there looking up at the ceiling.
INT. HOME - DAY
KAEL
Please, come in. They're in the back room sleeping.
HEALER
How bad is it?
HEALER, RAMINZ, Elderly Lumerian, robe of silver, carrying a satchel.
KAEL
They are getting worse by the hour.
CADHLA
They haven't eaten. They can't keep down food, Raminz.
RAMINZ
Yes, well, show me to them.
INT. ROOM-DAY
Raminz walks in with Cadlha and Kael. He observes Emily shaking uncontrollably, Seth lays sweating, Loni in the cradle position rocking herself, Jade gripping his pillow in pain. The room fills with cries and whimpering.
RAMINZ
It's worse than I thought.
He walks over to Emily, listens to her breathing, then waves his hand over her head back and forth with his eyes closed.
RAMINZ
Is this Survana?
KAEL
Yes.
RAMINZ
Her fire is diminishing. But it will be restored, she must have full rest until I return,, as with the rest of them. I will give some dust tonic, it will help ease the pain put them to sleep.
CADHLA
Should they try to eat?
RAMINZ
No, it wouldn't do any good.
He pulls a bottle from the satchel. Standing over her, he pours some gold dust into his palm. He closes his eyes and whispers a chant. He blows the dust over her body then, in her nostrils. She stops shaking. He does the same thing to the rest of them.
LONI
(Barley speaking)
Cadhla? ....Am I going to die?
She looks up at her pittyful.Cadhla kneels at her side and takes her hand.
CADHLA
No, Aires. You will not die. None of you will I promise.
RAMINZ
Come. We must let them rest.
They walk out closing the door behind them.
EMILY
Seth?......
Seth wakes up.
SETH
I'm here Em. I'm here.
EMILY
Please come here.....
She starts crying. Seth gathers every bit of strength and willfully stumbles over to her. He climbs in bed with her. They hold each other, Emily crying.
EMILY
I don't wanna be here.....
SETH
C'mon baby.....don't cry. I'm here. Just go to sleep, I'll hold you until you sleep.
EMILY
No...........stay. Please don't go.
SETH
What about Jade and Loni?
EMILY
I don't care anymore, they're gonna find out....just hold me.
She whimpers in his chest, shaking. They fall asleep.
INT. LIVING AREA-DAY
RAMINZ
I will go now. I will meet with the Counsel and report their status.
KAEL
Yes. I too will go.
RAMINZ
No, that won't be necessary. I will report.
KAEL

CADHLA
Goodbye Raminz. Will we see you tomorrow?
RAMINZ
No, on the third day. The tonic will last for the duration. They will be fine.

Yes, good day. Soon, we will pass into a new shift, the prophecy will be fulfilled. Lord Dhonn will not see what's coming.

Raminz walks out, the entrance closes behind him. Kael turns to Cadhla.

Well,....I'm... Just fearful of what's to pass. I fear our child won't have a father, I fear for you. I fear for Lumeria and the Earth.
She walks over to him and embraces him.
KAEL
I will be home love. I will do whatever it takes to bring down Lord Dhonn and all his legions so our future is secure.
He lays his hand on her tummy. She covers his hand with hers. (Focus on hands, end scene)
INT. ROOM-DAY
All four begin waking up.
JADE
Is it just me, or do you feel like a millions bucks!
He springs out of bed with enthusiasm. Emily and Seth sit up. Loni rolls over.
JADE
Whooo...........man! You guys? I knew it!
EMILY
Shut up Jade!
SETH
Wow! I feel great!
LONI
Yeah...me too! Hey, wait a minute. Em? Why didn't you tell me?
EMILY
Loni, we were going to when it was right.
LONI
Whatever. yeah yeah yeah. I think it's waaay cool. You guys were meant to be together.
Cadhla enters the room.
CADHLA
You look much better.
She smiles.

How long have we been sleeping?
CADHLA
Two days. You must be hungry. Come, I will prepare food for you.
SETH
That sounds great!
JADE
Bring on the steaks!
They all follow Cadhla.
INT. KITCHEN-DAY
KAEL
Well, look who's up and around.
JADE
Man, I never felt like this before. I feel like I can leap mountains!
KAEL
Yes, I know young one. That's because all the pollutants are out of your bodies. The Lumerian air is in you now.
SETH
Whatever it is..........feels great!
Cadhla brings a variety of vegetation to the table.
JADE
I don't mean to sound rude, but.....I could eat a cow. I don't think the salad is gonna do it for me.
EMILY
Jade!
CADHLA
That's ok Survana. You see, we don't eat cows here, nor any animal. Our gardens are especially grown with supra-orbs an energy from the crystal links. You will see. You won't need much.
They begin to eat strange looking vegetables and fruits.
JADE
Hey, this ain't half bad.
LONI
I feel like I'm getting full but with energy. I dunno if I can handle any more energy.
They begin laughing.
KAEL
Raminz in here. Let him in Cadhla.
Cadhla leaves to open the entrance.
SETH
So, Kael....you said something about meeting the Counsel?
KAEL
Yes. We will go today.
Raminz walks in with Cadhla.
KAEL
Raminz! They have restored. And with full character.
He looks at Jade and smiles.
RAMINZ
I see.
He walks over and waves his hands over Emily's head. Emily looks at him curiously.
RAMINZ
Yes.....yes.....yes. your fire has restored too Survana. That is good. So, this means all of you are in full restoration. That's good because we are set to meet with the Counsel in a couple of hours.
He looks at all of them.
CADHLA
Aren't they remarkable?
RAMINZ
Yes they are. Lord Dhonn won't know what hit him.
KAEL
I think they should enjoy some fresh air before we go what do you think?
RAMINZ
That will be fine Kael. Just as long as they are ready when I return.
KAEL

CADHLA

Raminz turns to address them.

They smile at him nodding their heads. Cadhla walks him out. She returns and they gather up and follow Kael toward to entrance. They stand in front of the entrance.

Elements.....I will show you our great city. Come.
He waves his hand, the entrance spirals open. They see outside.
EXT. OUTSIDE HOME - DAY
They all stand in amazement. They look all around astonished. Kael an Cadhla walk ahead of them
KAEL
Come.
They follow. The city hums with harmony. Animals of the earth stroll around, others lay, lions with lambs. Grasses have a glowing energy. The great buildings are scattered throughout ahead of them. They walk among other Lumerians. Other's look at them with warm welcoming expressions. They don't speak to them, only smile. They come to the end of the buildings.
EXT. OPENING TO A VAST FIELD- DAY
They stand looking down at a vast field of luxurious wildlife and trees which give an aurora of radiant colored energies. Flocks of Dinosaurs, great mammoths and animals across the mass. All in peace with each other.
JADE
This is so amazing. I don't know what to say.
EMILY
Is this real? Could it be?
KAEL
Long ago, we lived on the surface, the great continent of Lumeria and Atlantis. Our time was ending so we built this great city here, taking animals with us to preserve their balance along with ours. Every extinct animal on the earth is here, perfectly protected.
LONI
Wait...Atlantis? You mean....
KAEL
Yes. We were allies in our evolution. Supreme beings living together until, the great shift of the 4th dimension. It was time for a new race. Your race. So, our continents were swallowed up. Much of us escaped, but many perished.

They walked down a hill toward the wide plane. Hands touch the tops of grasses, lights roll over their hands. They come to the bottom.

He waves his hand toward the animals. SOME OF THESE INCLUDE: A VARIETY OF DINOSUARS, FOUR TUSKED MASTADON, GROUND SLOTH, GIANT KANGAROO, BALUCHITHERIUM, QUAGGA, GIANT MOA, WOOLY RHINOCEROS, TASMANIAN WOLF, HORNED GOPHERS, PTERODACTYLS, PTERANODON AND TODAY'S ANIMALS.
CADHLA
They are friendly. They have all evolved to vegetarians.
She smiles and encourages.
JADE

They all run in the tall grass like children at play. Kael and Cadhla stand smiling. Jade slowly walks up to a white tiger laying under a tree. He gets closer, hands shake a little as he reaches for it. The tiger lays down in a playful position inviting him to pet. Jade smiles and sits next to it, playing and rubbing its belly. The tiger plays, swiping Jade at his head then tucks its head on his lap. He laughs.
JADE
No one's going to believe this.
Emily and Loni play with giant Gorillas. The lush vegetation is filled with various species. They laugh and play. A baby Gorilla climbs onto Loni's back. Then suddenly, (O.S.) A SCREAM OF EXCITEMENT. They look toward a border of thick bushes. (O.S.) HEAVY RUNNING. A wooly white mastodon charges out of the bushes with Seth on its back.
SETH
Look at me! Can you believe this! Whoooohooooo!
He screams in laughter.
EMILY
Oh my God Seth! You're gonna get hurt! Hang on!
Everyone watches him happily. The mastodon runs around them in circles. It comes to a stop next to Loni and Emily. He gently heels and lets Seth off. Seth begins petting its huge face. Jade walks over to join them holding a baby raccoon. Kael and Cadhla join them.
EMILY
What is that?
She points to a sparkling beam of light reaching high above, off in the distance. They all gaze in wonder.
KAEL
That is the Great Portal. That is how we are connected to the universe and all of its planets. It's also the portal you will take to the other side.
SETH
The other side of what?
KAEL
The dark side.
They look at each other.
INT. EMILY'S HOME- LIVINGROOM-DAY
Ann and Wayne are talking to the police. They are very upset.
WAYNE
What do you mean we have to wait? They're just kids! We need to get a search and rescue out there now!!!
POLICE OFFICER
Mr. Grissom, it's only been a day. Normally we don't call search and rescue until after 48 hours. Now I assure you........

They all sit talking to one another. Cadhla brings in bright colored drinks in crystal glasses. She passes them each a drink. She sits next to Kael.

I am in total shock of all of this. Telon is so amazing.
They all agree.
