Teen Accident: Dead Boy, Injured Girl, Possible Lovers Quarrel?

A car accident took place just outside of a small town in Nebraska. Two teenagers were driving down the road when the car suddenly swerved off the road down a steep hill causing the car to flip. When found the car was upside down and the girl unconscious. Boy dead at the scene. When the girl woke she was questioned immediately. At first she wouldn't reply until she knew what happened, but not too long after she spoke of an argument and then the rest was a blur. She was released from the hospital after a short inspection and she hasn't been seen since.

That was all that was written about that night. There was so much more that could have been told. So much.

I never told them that we had only argued about whether or not if we should go home after eloping. We weren't even arguing. We were laughing and singing to the radio when we heard a good song then went back to discussing or situation.

Of course we probably wouldn't have made the front page if I had.

After I was released I walked around the town I was unfamiliar with. I had a minor cut or two with a few extra bruises, so no one would stop me and say, “Hey, your that chick from the paper.” or “You poor thing.”

I found a dark alley and sat against the wall. That's when I realized it was dark now. The moon shining right above my head. I rested my eyes for a bit, but quickly opened them to the feeling of a rough patch scratching at my cheek.

A black cat.

It looked sad. I could relate.

I pulled it into my lap and stroked its silky black fur. It licked my hand as if to comfort me. It did somewhat. Until it sat up quickly as if hearing something I was in capable of hearing.

I didn't want him to leave, but as most cats do he did. I watched as he scurried around the corner leaving me. Then I heard what he had probably just heard a few moments ago. Quiet footsteps. I didn't turn towards them. I didn't attempt to move at all. I didn't care.

The steps were heavy. Probably a guy.

He moved closer and then knelt down beside me taking my chin in his hand. I stared into his eyes. He didn't look threatening, but guys had that skill to trick your mind.

I just waited to see what he would do. I averted my eyes toward the sky. A drop fell. Then another. It soothed me. The rain was the best possible weather at this moment in time. I returned my stare and realized he had looked up as well. I finally spoke.

“Well?”

“Well, what?” His voice was unnaturally calm as if he was an old friend.

“Are you gonna hurt me or what?”

“You want me to?”

“No, it just seems odd for some guy to walk down an alley without some reason to hurt whoever unsuspectingly fell into his grasp.”

“Your quite right.” He smirked. So his true side shows. He pulled me up, not forcefully, but rather gently, and pressed me against the wall. “Would you mind if you died tonight?”

“Honestly?” He nodded, “No.”
