Outside the Sectors_5

They walked out of the building and split into their different directions towards home. Madison always took her time getting home and she always regretted it later, but she didn't mind as long as it delayed the pain for a bit. The world around her seemed to move much slower as she walked home today. Her thoughts took hold of her mind and she hadn't realized that she had walked past her house. She walked backwards and tripped as she hit the curb. She just let herself fall on to her greenless front lawn. It itched, but it didn't bother her much. Closing her eyes, she began to replay the odd events of the day. For some reason she couldn't help but think she was going to regret talking to Cody.

“Get you lazy ass up and get inside.”She refused to believe that what she heard was from her “mother”. Then she felt something slam into her side. A foot she believed. She curled up towards the pain hoping it would disappear quickly. The woman walked back in the house mumbling angrily to herself. Madison pulled herself up grabbing her school bag and entered her dreaded home.

“She's finally home. What to took you so long?”A man sitting in the darker part of the room asked without looking from the t.v.

“I had to walk it's gonna take some time.”She replied walking across the small living room.

“Don't get lippy with me. Besides we didn't finish our discussion earlier.”He replied.

Madison sighed. Some time during the day she had forgotten about what he had wanted her to do when she got home. She wasn't afraid of him, but she was disturbed by what she was requested to do. Apparently, her mom wasn't fulfilling his “needs”.

    “No.”

He finally turned to face her, “What'd you say?”

She didn't repeat, instead she walked out of the room. Madison wasn't sure where her mother was, so she went straight to her room hoping to avoid her. She was surprised that Charlie, her dad, hadn't come after her yet. Then she heard footsteps coming down the short hallway. She hadn't even set her bag down when he slammed the door down and slammed her against the wall. He wasn't much bigger than her, but he was stronger. His forearm was pressed against her throat making it hard to breathe.

“Get off.”She demanded, but he didn't budge. He pressed his knee into her gut.

“What did I tell you about saying no to me?”
She didn't respond. He pressed against her more. Her side ached and the pressure against her front wasn't helping the pain.

“Answer me.” He screamed. She grimaced, but she couldn't respond. Her head was spinning and she couldn't take in enough air to stay conscious. She felt herself fade away and he let her fall to the ground.

After an hour she came to and he was waiting. She still lay on the floor and she tried to stand up, but she fell back down.

Charlie stayed in his seat, but pulled a paper from her bag, “What's this?”

“What's what?” She asked reaching for her head.

“This paper. Something about a field trip.”

    “It's a permission slip.”

    “Do you wanna go?”

She gave him a confused look, “No, not really.”

“Your going.” He pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the bottom of the paper.

“What?”She knew her parents goal in life was to torture her, but this was weird.

    “I said your going.”

She was able to sit up, but she felt a bit queasy, “What, why?”

“I'm making you go. It's better if you go any way me and your mom have some business to take care of.”

    “Business?”

He left the permission slip on the table and stood up. She pressed herself against the wall which made him laugh. He shut her door as he walked out and she heard a click letting her know she wasn't getting any food tonight. She pulled herself onto the mattress behind her and rested her head. Great, she thought to herself, now I have to go.

She rolled on to her side and tried to fall asleep. After a few hours she was able to drift off, but it didn't last for long. She slowly sat up and her stomach grumbled loudly. Searching around the room she realized someone was standing just outside the door. Quickly, she laid back down and pretend to be asleep. The door creaked open and footsteps slowly and quietly dragged across the floor. Madison slowed her breathing hoping it wouldn't be obvious she was faking. She felt a light touch brush hair out of her face. A feminine voice whispered, “I'm so sorry, Maddy.”

Then the woman turned and walked out of the room just as softly as she had coming in. Madison waited a moment before sitting up. She whispered out loud, “It's too late to be sorry.”

Aaquaian That was a very good piece, Miss. The parents seem to be a good addition to keep interest, and nice way to get her on that field trip. Please keep up the good work, I can't wait to hear of the next part, if you have time to tell me when it's posted.
