Looking Glass Twins

Chapter 7
Alis
He just had to pass out at the worse moment. I dragged him to his room, so he could get some rest, but unfortunately I knew we would be hunted down if we didn't leave soon. I started to pack some of his clothes when I found a few daggers and decided we would need them. I found a stash of food under his bed probably in case he got stuck in his room or something. I put that in to a different pack. I grabbed blankets and a pillow or two.
“Alis.” Regor screamed. I brought him some water from his tiny bathroom and forced him to drink. He was starting to come around when there was a hard knock on the door.
“Hey, Regor is everything okay?” I recognized the voice. I ran to open the door and let in Xela Foth, an old friend of Regor who was also in the guard.
“Hey, Xela.” Regor said hoarsely.
“Don't talk you could hurt yourself. Drink.” I held the glass to his lips again and he drank in gulps.
“What happened?” Regor started to say something, but Xela interrupted him, “Alis.”
Regor gave up and took another few drinks from the glass I held. “My mother found out about me and Regor and she had the guards attack him.”
“How'd she find out?” He had a look of anger on his face, “Triston.”
I nodded and went to find some badges for our trip. “Alis, is there anything I can do?”
“I don't know. Wait, could you go to my room and bring me back some clothes.”
“Sure. I'll be back.” He left quickly. He was a good friend. He never had to be told why he had to do something and he always understood us if we did tell him why. He was back in the room in a matter of moments. “Here.”
“You didn't run into anyone, did you?”
“Thankfully, no.” He started to help me pack everything, so it would seem like a lighter load. When we were finished packing Regor looked as if nothing had happened to him. No bruises or cuts. Nothing except his ears the were still wolf ears.
“Roger, your ears.” He quickly went to his mirror and found out what I was worried about. He shrieked in horror and I giggled. I had to admit that it was kind of cute, but he wouldn't lighten up. I hadn't giggled in a long time it felt kind of nice.
Regor
“My ears.” I felt the top of my head and found two soft dog ears.
“Oh, stop moping we have to get out of here first.”Alis was holding one of the packs and was trying to get us out of the palace without anyone seeing.
“With Xela here we can get out of her in no time.”
“We can take a secret passage through my room.”She slowly walked towards her room making sure no one was walking through the hall. Xela followed next and I followed soon after. We all got inside of her with no one seeing us, but then Alis said she heard something in the wall. I crept towards the wall and heard a soft murmur.
“Is this were the secret passage is?”I whispered to Alis. She nodded. “We need to get out of here. There are people on the other side of the wall.”
We quietly went back out into the halls, “The guards are probably all hiding in the secret passages ready to attack us.”
“I know a passage that no one knows about. Not even my mother.”
“Okay, we'll follow you.”Xela replied.
“Xela, I think it's best if you stay behind. We don't want you to get in trouble for helping us out.” I didn't want him getting beaten for answers like me.
“Fine, but I'm following you to the passage to make sure you don't get hurt.” There was no point to argue with him. He was very strong and could hold off anything, so we agreed.
We followed Alis's lead when a group of guards saw us. At first they started to attack, but something stopped them. I didn't realize I was growling and of course they started running away. So much for being strong guards. I was about to turn to follow Alis when someone pulled me into a dark hall. I tried to fight the person that was grabbing me.
“Stop fidgeting, Regor.” I obeyed recognizing Alis's voice.
“Sorry.”
“We're in the secret passage, now. Xela you have to go.”
“Okay, but I doubt I won't be questioned. I'm betting you they saw me.”
Alis stood there looking questionably, “You could say that you were trying to get us, but we escaped when they appeared because they distracted you from your paying attention to your trap.”
“Okay, what if they don't believe me.”
“My mother would believe you. Your the most trusted guard. But you should find those five guards and get mad at them for ruining your “trap” just to make it seem even more believable.”
“That just might work. Okay I'll do it.”Before leaving he gave us both a tight hug and said, “Good luck you two.”
That was the last we saw him for a long time.
After a few moments I told Alis we should get going.
“Okay, let's hurry.”
“Where exactly are we going?”
“We're going underneath the Blacke Garden.”
