Chapter 3
Alis
Regor pulled away telling me it was time to go into the palace. He picked me up cradling me like a baby and took me into the palace. I didn't much like being carried like that, but it didn't bother me right then until a few guards came running up to us just as we came in.
“Princess, are you okay? Where were you?...”The few guards seemed like many the way they were chattering on. Regor set me down, but I still had to lean on him from exhaustion.
“Thank you guards, but I am fine.”This silenced the guards for a few moments. “I'm going to head to my room now. Good night.”
“Miss Alis, do you need any extra guards outside your doors,tonight?”One guard asked, Triston Flast, a guard the same age as Regor, but he was a bit more anxious when it came to my safety.
“No, thank you, Regor will be enough.”
I tried to walk a little, but failed. Thankfully I was near Regor and he caught me quickly. He picked me up again and started towards my room. I must have dozed off a bit because when I opened my eyes again Regor was setting me down on my bed. “Regor?”
“Yes, Milady...Alis.”
I reached for his hand, “Please stay here.”
“I'll be just outside your door.”
“No, I want you stay here with me.”
“But..”
“Please, I'm not asking you to sleep with me just to sit here next to me until tomorrow.”
He nodded and pulled a chair up next to my bed,”Thank you, Regor.”
Regor
She fell asleep when her head hit the pillow. I was able to sneak out of her room without disturbing her. After I shut the door I someone grabbed my shoulder.
“Regor.”
“What do you want, Triston?”,I said pulling away from his grasp.
“I'm just wondering what you were doing inside of the princess' room? Especially at this time of night.”He asked giving me a suspicious look.
“Look, I was just fulfilling her wishes. She asked me to stay by her bedside and so I did and why is it any of your business?”
“Oh. Someone's a little touchy. Anyway, the Queen sent me to get you.” Two more guards appeared from the shadows. I could tell this wasn't going to be pleasant.
