PROLOGUE

Alis

My name is Alis Dulim. I am the princess of the Darcke World. My personal guard is Regor Silus. We have known each other since my birth, December 21. My fairytale is quite different from those other princesses. I guess you could say it's Twisted.

Sila

My name is Sila Mildum. I am the princess of the Lyte World. My personal guard is Roger Sulis. We have known each other since my birth, June 21. My fairytale is quite different from those other princesses. I guess you could say it's Twisted.

CHAPTER 1

Alis

It's my 13th birthday today and it's very boring. I haven't seen anyone I know or at least seems interesting. It's my birthday party I should know who attends it, is that too much to ask?

"Mother, may I please be excused?"I ask giving my most innocent look.

"Take Regor with you and don't cause too much trouble...just enough."

"Thank you, mother." I grab hold of Regor's hand and race towards the Blacke Courtyard. It is one of the darkest places in the Darcke and I love it. From it's shady Kuro Trees to it's blackest lily. I drop myself to the grass pulling Regor with me. He hasn't said one thing to me all day. What could possibly be wrong?

"Regor?"

"Yes, milady."

"Do you hate me?"I look at him questioningly. He looks shocked at my question, so I know the answer is no, but it still bothers me why he won't talk to me.

"Of course not, milady. I could never hate you."

"Then, why haven't you said one word to me all day and why do you keep calling me milady no matter how many times I tell you not to. I feel as if you don't want to be my friend just my stupid guard." The last word left my mouth with such disgust it made him cringe. I turned from him on the verge of crying.

"Alis, I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just can't stop guarding you and if our friendship gets in the way... Then, I can't be your friend. I have to protect you."He put his hand on my shoulder and I pulled away.

"No."

"What?"

I whirled back around and stared straight in to his eyes, tears rolling down my cheeks."I don't want you to ever stop being my friend. I don't care that you have to protect me. I can't loose you, Regor. Why can't you just stop being my guard instead of my friend?"

He pulled away and stood up."Alis, you don't understand."

He started to walk away and he turned back around and gave me a small box with a black ribbon tied into a bow."This is for you."

The tears stopped for the few seconds that I stared at the box, but they started to come even harder this time. I whispered his name as I hugged the box. Then I screamed it causing all the ravens around me to fly off.

Regor

It hurt me so much to cause Alis to cry the way she did and when she screamed my name I started to cry myself. I am supposed to be strong so I can protect her,but it broke my heart to have to break our friendship like that.

Son, you can't love the princess.

What?

You can't be with her no matter what because she is the princess and you are just her guard. It was never meant to be. Might as well stop loving her now so it won't hurt as much. I sparing you the pain, son. Do you understand?

I didn't understand at that time, but now it makes sense. It would have hurt more to have broken our friendship later then now. I walked passed the other guards as they called my name asking what was wrong and went straight into my room in the palace. I cried myself to sleep, but I woke when I heard shouts in the hall.

"The princess is missing. Wake up, we need to find her."

I put my boots on and walked into the hall. "I know where she is. Let me get her."

I ran to the Black Courtyard and found her laying in the same spot I left her. She was holding on to the box I gave her and she had dried tears on her cheeks.

She must have cried herself to sleep too.

I gently picked her up and made sure she wouldn't fall. She rubbed her head on my chest and I could feel her breath match up with my heartbeat. I stood there staring at her for a few moments then she slowly opened her eyes.

"Regor?" I let her stand up and she reached to touch my face."Your crying."

Without realizing it myself i started crying. She was so beautiful and having to give her up was breaking my heart. I looked at her and small tears were rolling down her cheeks too. I pulled her close to me and wiped away her tears as she stared at me. I knew she was a year younger and I knew I was her guard and I knew everyone was against us being together, but that wouldn't stop me. I pulled her even closer and leaned into her. When our lips met it started to rain. Not just a drizzle, but it poured. I tried to let go, so we could get out of the rain, but she wouldn't let me go. So I kissed her harder and she wrapped her arms around me holding on tighter. We were soaking wet and we didn't care.
