the darkened heart 2

A few months went by where the only thing I cared about was increasing my knowledge. Books by books I read and nothing proved to me why my mind was gone. Since losing my emotions I lost my mind as well. My mind split in two and I was always with a feud of my other self. At times I would wake with holding my head in pain and that was only if I slept at all. Months past like this until Christmas was brought forth. “Why did this accursed holiday come?”  I said to myself.

I got up from my floor and decided to put my shirt on and leave this darkened room. Looking for a shirt and a white floor is easy, knowing what it says is the problem. I walked out into my living room and to my surprise the only at my house was my sister. She was sitting on one of our bigger chairs and since she was only 5’2”, it worked for her. She looked at me for a second and back at her manga she held dearly. I hated such books, guess it’s a prejudice based on the books I’ve been committing my time to. “So I see you left your cell for a little while.” My sister said without looking away from her book.

“I guess so, where is everyone?”  I said with some confusion.

“Mom and dad left for lunch to talk about there problems” krissy (my sister) said with frustration. We were both sick of the yelling in our house but I showed her my music, which she always has deafeningly loud.

“I grabbed my leather jacket and gloves and began to leave. “Where are you going?” I heard behind me.

“Just out for a while, I need air,” I said without looking back.

“You can’t hide forever” She spoke with a very emotionless voice. But I just left. Where was I to go? I just didn’t know. I stepped down the porch and continued down the road, which I was all but familiar with. For the past few months I didn’t pay attention to when I walked, just stared ahead and let my feet guide me home. But now I knew where I wanted to go, a park where I use to write but haven’t stepped foot on since I gave up. I walked the direction and thought about my sister’s words, could I hide forever? Did I want to? Ill figure it out soon enough. The park was but four blocks from my house so it didn’t take me long to get there.

I crossed the street, stepped on the grass and looked at how things seem to never change where you want them. No one came to this park anymore and yet there are so many houses around it, this always confused me. There was a short blond girl in the swings wearing a dark purple shirt and blue jeans but that was all. I went to the largest tree in the park and pressed my hand on it, unfortunate, the memories that flew back at me. “I have missed this place,” I said under my breath. I sat on the flattest place by the tree and just relaxed there for a moment. I must have dosed off for a second cause I awoke to a feeling of being watched. I opened my eyes to see the girl towering over me. “uh hey…” was all I could think of saying.

“Hey, I just wanted to see if you were ok” she said back, her face showed no concern; something else was there instead.

“Yes, I’m ok. Must of lost track of time.” I said while getting up. That was when I found out how tall she really was. I was 5’11” so I'm guessing she was near 5’4” with dark blue eyes. She was probably the first person I've talked to in well over 3 months. “what is your name?”

Sherry...” she said while her eyes lowered to the ground.

interesting name, so i take it you live near here?”

yes, that big house over there” she said while looking over toward a two story house on the other side of the street. I looked at for a moment and found myself lost within her eyes. They were as a dark blue as the night sky while her pupal acted as a reflected form of darkness which held nothing more but secrets i wished to know. “you sure your ok?” she asked, jumping me back into reality.

uh yes, I'm fine. I do hope I'm not keeping you from wherever you might need to be.” I asked with a slight smile coming into focus.

oh...no actually i don't have to be anywhere for about an hour or so, you? She began to smile as well.

do you want to hang out at my place for a little while?”
