Hearing is Believing
-Preface-
“I love you Danni.” I was trapped in the icy darkness but I could feel my cheeks get really hot. My eyes were closed as if to shield me from his reaction, even if my eyes were always shielded from the world.
He was still here; I could feel him, even if he wasn’t saying anything. This was the first time he was actually speechless. I wanted something to shake him, to get the words out; I could even handle the rejection. Anything would be better than the dark silence. My pulse was the only thing making a sound; it even overpowered my jagged breaths.
Sometimes I wondered if I opened my eyes it would be like a real dream, a dream I could see. I would always feel a surge of hope every time I woke up but once I dared to open my eyes it was always the same.
Blackness.
