Chapter 4:

Scarlett just looked at them. She didn’t know what to say to them.  She wasn’t really that mad at them but she still felt uneasy about it.  She didn’t like what they did.  She knew that they didn’t mean anything by it but still.
            Scarlett was about to tell the guys not to worry about it when the bell rang.  “I’ll talk to you guys later.”

“Okay we will see you at lunch.” Damien said.

“Not if I see you first!” Scarlett said as she ran to homeroom.

“I guess we better get going. We don’t need to get into trouble with Ms. Davis again.  One more time and we get detention and who knows what other things she will come up with for us.” Says Kyle

So Damien, Kyle, Wyatt and Xavier head to their homeroom with Ms. Davis.  The guys arrived just as the final bell rang. 

“Nice seeing you guys on time.  I thought that I would see you in detention today.  But I guess we will save that for another day then.”  Ms. Davis said smiling “Please take your seats the announcements are starting.” The boys all went to their seats.  The morning announcements were about how the soccer team had won their game the day before to a team the school hasn’t beat in 5 years.  Nobody was really paying any attention to it at all.  Damien and Xavier sat talking about how fast they wanted the weekend to come so they didn’t have to sit in class all day when it is still really nice outside. 

Scarlett sat in her homeroom staring off into space when the announcements came on.  She didn’t really care about the soccer team that much.  She started daydreaming.  She thought about how different her life would have been if her mom hadn’t died when she was younger.  She thought that maybe her best friend would have been someone besides the boy next door and that the boy next door would have been something more than a best friend.  But then she snapped out of her dream when her homeroom teacher was introducing a new student to the class.
