Chapter 3

’I can’t believe that they would do something like that.  I don’t know why I hang around with them all the time.  I should really try and make some new friends.’  Scarlett mumbles to herself as she opens her locker to put her book bag in. As the boys walk into school they talk about what had happened just a few minutes ago.

“How mad do you think we made her? It wasn’t like we insulted her.  We said that she was looking good today.”  Kyle says.

“I don’t think it was that.  Maybe there is something else bothering her.  Did she mention anything to you that was bothering her? Xavier?” Wyatt says.

“Why are you asking me?” Xavier asks.  Wyatt, Kyle and Damien all look at each other.

“Okay, so first of all you and Scarlett have been friends since forever.  You guys are really close. You know everything about each other, stuff that nobody else knows about.” Kyle says

“So,  what does that have to do with what happened today?  Maybe she just doesn’t like people yelling out car windows a….”

“OR may be you just like Scarlett and won’t admit it.” Damien interjects and says sarcastically.  Xavier stops in his tracks and just looks at Damien.
”What are you talking about? I don’t like Scarlett.  She is my best friend.  I can’t believe that you would say something like that!” Kyle Wyatt and Damien look at each other. 
 “Look man you don’t have to get so defensive. I didn’t mean anything by it.” Damien says as they enter the building.
” Hey look there is Scarlett.”

As Scarlett closes her locker Kyle, Xavier, Wyatt, and Damien walk up to her.
 ”Scarlett, are you mad at us?  We didn’t mean to upset you.” Scarlett turns around. The guys look at Scarlett’s face and they can’t tell what she is thinking.
