Chapter 3

(A little bit of language but not much)

"How...." I couldn’t even find the words for her.

"Well lets leave them to talk Mark." Mark got up and mouthed "bye," and I returned it back. John shut the door and left my ex friend with me.

"So Sammy, how is the food?" She asked after a while of silence.

"Paula how the hell could you do this to me! You’re the reason I was kidnaped and all the hell you can take about is how the food is!" I was raging and was ready to fight. I stood up face to face with her. "How the hell could you do this to me?" Suddenly a pain hit me. My best friend since the sand box is having my parents probably freaking out. The trust is gone, the hope of growing up with her is gone.

"Listen Sam," she sat down in the chair I was once tied in, "I didn’t tell him everything, I just told him about you. He found out himself how you get home. He told me he would fix me up with his brother. Did you see him?" She pointed to the door, "He is hot!"

My heart was pounding, "You sold out your best friend for a guy! I can’t believe you. You’re pathetic." I turned away, I couldn’t look at her.

She laughed, "The way you say it sounds bad, the idea worked when he told me it."

"John!!" This was the only time I needed him to rescue me, I needed her out of my sight. It was worst than being kidnaped a million times. John opened the door and smiled that I needed him.

"Yes Samantha darling?"

"John can you get my ex friend out of my sight?" I looked at him in the eyes which were filled with nothing but cold and emptyness.

"Come on Paula. She will forgive you one day for getting me and her together." As he walked out with Paula, I realized the last thing he said, me and her together. I would never want to be with him. As I took the last bite of my food Mark walked in.

"Hey beautiful, I’m sorry that your best friend was the one to put you through this." He took the plate but sat down.

"Well, at least now I know what an ass she is. You know she only did it to get you?"

He froze, "What you didn’t know that?" He shook his head no.

"Why would my brother promise her that? I hope he wasn’t serious." Mark looked to the door, I think he was hoping John wouldn’t come in.

"Hey can I ask you a question," I asked him as I turned the chair to face him.

"Sure," he slouched and got comfortable.

"Well two," I smiled, "Ok first question, why are you here, you seem better than kidnaping and do you think you can help me out of here?" He looked worried at the last question.

"Umm, ok for the first question, my parents died and he is the last family member I know. Plus his has the money my parents left me until I’m 20. For the second question, I know around this building but not outside of it. We are 2 hours away from your town. I would love to help you out but there is no way out that I know of right now."

I smiled at the fact he said right now. Maybe I could trust him.

"Why are you smiling?" He looked at me with his amazing eyes.

"Because," I was about to tell him until John came in and gave Mark a dirty look for talking to me.

"Ok Mark tie her back up." He was about to close the door and leave until Mark said, "No." John turned around and said, "Excuse me?"

"Well, its late and I think she would like to sleep and there are a few locks on the door so she won’t be able to leave." John looked up and thought about it. Mark was right, I was tired.

"Ok but you are watching her for the night and setting up her bed. I’ll watch her tomorrow night." He smiled at me and gave me chills up my back, from the way he said the last part.

Mark got up and left. It was about five minutes until he came back with a twin mattress, and a big blanket, a smaller blanket and two pillows. He began to set up the bed for me. Once the bed was he sat in the chair with the extra pillow and smaller blanket.

"Thank you." I said as I climbed into the bed.

"Your welcome," he said as he began to close his eyes.

"Hey Mark," I had to get him before he was fully asleep.

"Yea Sam," He looked at me with sincerity in his eyes.

"Is there anyway we can turn off the light?" He got up unlocked the door and all of a sudden the light turned off. A little night light near the door turned on. He walked back in and smiled and as he sat back down he said, "Good-night gorgeous." After that I closed my eyes and fell asleep right away.
