  "Morning Tony."Jaime seemed a little extra cheerful this morning.He ignored the small part of his mind saying it was because he was the first person she had seen this morning because he was only thinking that because he loved her.The rest of his head was wondering why she was so happy.So he asked.
  "What's with you,Ms.Cheerful?"He had a sly smile on his face to look like he was just teasing her.She bought it.
  "What?Just because I'm dying I can't be happy?My mom called and told me that on Monday I am being unenrolled from school.Oh,and you and Aly are having the rest of the month off like my mom.We will be spending the rest of the month together."She started clapping and smiling.Tony's heart and stomach did backflips when he heard this.This meant he would have more time to tell her he loved her."YES!!"he thought.After Aly came down,they had breakfast.Tony had made waffles.Aly of course wondered when he had become such a good cook.
  "Well a few months ago,when my mom was here,she taught me how to cook because she cooks when she is worried and she figured I would be too.So she figured the food might as well be good."He smiled.Not because Both his friends(especially Jaime)had started laughing,but because he had finally thought of a time and place to tell Jaime he loved her.It had taken him a week,but he had finally thought of something perfect.Vicki showed up right after breakfast to take Jaime to the hospital for some treatments.Everyone got ready to leave when the doctor called.Jaime grabbed the phone so quickly everyone thought it was just their imagination.They stood there for a few minutes trying to tell from Jaime's facial expressions whether it was good or bad news.They couldn't tell at all.When she hung up,she just said he was calling to remind her where to go within the hospital.When she turned around,she smiled bigger than she ever had before.The doctor had told her that her last bone marrow test came back and it said the Lukemia was somehow receeding.She had never heard or seen anything like it.Jaime was a miracle.She decided to tell them tommorow night after Aly's band concert.What Jaime didn't know was that Tony had big news of his own that he was gonna crack right before she was...

  "Wow,I'm really nervous!!"Aly said right outside the theatre.Everyone got that look that just said "we know,we know".
  "Jaime,can I talk to you for a minute?"Tony asked.He dicreetly winked at Aly.He had told her about his plan and she had gone ecstatic.Vicki didn't miss the wink.As the two went to the dressing room,Aly explained everything.Once they were way out of earshot,Vicki and Aly jumped with joy.After they calmed down,Vicki explained something to Aly,"Tjis is so amazing!Just Friday,Jaime was telling me how much she loves Tony!"
Aly opened her mouth wide at this news."This is gonna work out so well for them!"She thought happily.
   Tony led Jaime over to a courtyard near the theatre entrance.He sat Jaime down on one of the stone benches and looked into her big green eyes.
  "Jaime there is something I have been wanting to tell you for sometime now.I know that sounded really cheesy but this is very important to me and maybe to you."They smiled as Tony took adeep breath.Jaime squeezed the hand he was holding and told him to go go on with it.
  "Jaime,I love you.I've loved you for 6 years now and I can't beleive I waited this long to tell you.I am such an idiot 'cause you probably don't even feel the sa--"Jaime leaned in and kissed him.He instantly shut up and enjoyed something he has wanted for so long.When she finally let him go,he looked at her with thanks,surprise,and passion all on his one face.
  "I've wanted to do that for a while now.I do love you Tony.I have for 5 years.I know it doesn't compare but it's so true.I can't beleive I waited for this long either."Jaime smiled and leaned in for another kiss.Tony was so happy.When they went inside and found Vicki,she knew why they were so happy.The concert was wonderful.At the end,Aly stood and came to the microphone.
  "Our final song for the night is dedicated to my two friends,Jaime and Tony.I can't beleive it took you guys so long to figure out you loved each other.Congrats!We all wrote this song just for you,but it goes out to all the couples in the audience.Thank you,and good night everyone."The song was the most beautiful thing anyone in the audience had ever hears.It was soft and strong.The band was thown into their piece like a small child into a ball pit.Jaime leaned into Tony's arm,thinking that her news was about to come up at dinner.She thought that even though it was amazing news,it would never top this,no matter how long or short she lived.

"Aly that was amazing thank you so much!"Tony said as they sat at their table 20 minutes later.They all ordered their drinks while they were still praising Aly for the concert and the song.
 "I have some very big,very good news everyone."Jaime said as   dinner was brought to them.The lobster she ordered smelled wonderful and she thought that that was probably the only thing to make her happier tonight.
"When the doctor called yesterday,it wasn't to tell me where to go in the hospital,it was to tell me the resulits of a test.She said that my cancer was receeding.She said that I was a miracle to her.This morning another test siad that it had receeded even more.She thinks that by this time next week,I will be completely cured."Everyone was silent for a few moments and then broke out into cheers and tears.Everyone hugged and kissed each other.The waiter heared and brought some special desserts and champagne out on the house.Tony was crying as he kissed Jaime.She asked him what was wrong.
  "Nothing.I'm just so happy I wasn't too late."They kissed and hugged again.Nothing could have brought this crowd down.

    A few weeks later,Jaime made a visit to the doctor to make sure her Lukemeawasn't coming back.The doctor said everything was still fine but that Jaime should check back in every few weeks since she was still at a high risk.On her way home she picked Tony up from work.He told her to stop off where a small field was next to the road.They were talking and laughing for hours when it started raining hard.Tony grabbed Jaime and kissed her passionatly.They stood there for a few minutes,just holding each other and kissing.After a while Jaime lost her balance and knocked them both over.The rolled down the hill,kissing and laughing.When they reached the bottom,they sat up.Tony brushed the hir out of Jaime's wet face and just stared at her.
 "What?"She asked lying back on the grass staring up at him.
 "Nothing,I just can't beleive I finally have you as my own.That I can tell you I love you and know you feel the same way.I still can't beleive I almost lost you when I had just gained you."She smiled.
 "When you gained me I was perfectly safe remember?"She laughed as he nodded,stroking her face and arm.Jaime hugged him.Tony just  sat there,holding the girl he loved.He never wanted to let go.Jaime never wanted him to either.They wanted the moment to last forever.and it would have,if Jaime's phone hadn't rung.
 "Hello?Oh hi Aly.What's wrong?Slow down.Take a deep breath.Okay,now tell me."She was silent for a few moments,listening to Aly.She looked up at Tony worried."We're on our way.We have to get to the hospital.My mom's been in a car accident."Tony jumped up.He picked Jaime up and ran to the car.It was a good thing he did or Jaime would have taken a nose dive into the ground.She was really clumsy. They made it to the hospital and found Aly in the emergancy room.She explained that Vicki had been driving them both home when some slid into them.Aly was just a little shaken up butVicki was in bad shape.She had cuts and scapes evrywhere when she last saw her.After awhile someone came and took them up to Vicki's room.She was bandaged heavily and fully awake when they came in.Jaime ran to her side and hugged her lightly so she didn't pull on any of the tubes.Her mom explained that she was in no apparent danger but she had to get some rest.They stayed there through the night.In the morning,Jaime woke up to nurses and doctors rushing around her mom.
"Tony,what's going on?"He said that Vicki started seizing a little while ago.It may have been because of the medications.A nurse led them all out to a waiting room.It was hours before a doctor finally came over to them.They all stood up.Tony and Aly made sure to be on either side of Jaime in case it was bad news.
  "I'm sorry to tell you this,but,unfortunatly,your mother's seizures were so powerful that they got in the way of her heart and lungs functioning and she died.I'm so sorry for your loss.A social worker will be with you in a while to go over plan options."He bowed his head and left them.Jaime leaned into Tony's ches and just cried and cried and cried.
 "No,No,NOOOOO!!!!She can't be dead.She can't be."She just kept crying.
 "I'm sorry,baby.I'm so sorry."Tony said rubbing her back.He and Aly were also starting to cry.After all,Vicki had been like a mother to them as well.A social worker came over and helped them with funeral plans.She said that since they were all 18,they could keep the house and the government would actually be helping with the payments.Everything was going to work out finacially.

 The funeral was long and hard on the three.But they made it.A few years later,Jaime and Tony were married and Aly was married to the  lawyer who helped with the settlement.Nothing could have prepared them for those three hard months but they survived it helping each other with loss,love,and pain that would last a lifetime.
