  "Where is Jaime?"Alyson asked.Jaime hadn't shown up for school,which never happened.So she was worried.
  "She had a doctor's appointment.Don't worry so much."Tony,Aly&Jaime's best friend,replied.He didn't know why Aly worried so much.
  "It's fricken 5th period Tony!What kinda appointement last four hours?!?!"Tony thought about that and started to worry himself.This did sound a liitle  serious.
  "Maybe her mom just took her to lunch or somethin."He was always the opptomistic one.Aly was of course the worry wart and Jaime kinda kept them from kipping each other's heads off.After Aly got the assignment for Jaime,her and Tony called her cell.
  "Hi Aly.Whats up?"Jaime sounded a little distraught.
 "Where have you been we've-I've been worried."
  "Doctor's office.My mom took me out to lunch afterward.That's all.We are on our way there now."
  "Oh.Okay.See ya then."Aly hung up.She told Tony the news.He had a "told ya so"look on his face.Aly just rolled her eyes and walked to 6th period.A few minutes into the lecture, Jaime walked in the room.She looked like she had been crying for a while.She gave Mr.Pointsar a note and went to her usual seat behind Tony&Aly.Aly looked ather a little worried.Jaime mouthed,"We will talk later."Tony looked at Aly.He was uncharateristically worried as well.What was wrong with Jaime?

  After school Jaime walked to her car and motioned for Aly to come with her and Tony to follow.Jaime led them to the park a few miles away from her house.She took them to a bench where they usually talked about serious things.(Yes they have a special bench.)Jaime sat down silently and the others followed her lead.
  "Okay.Um I have good news and bad news.The good news is I don't have to take finals next month."Jaime paused,looking at her friends to see their startled,jealous reactions.
  "The bad news and reason for this is-"She took a deep breath.mentally preparing herself for what she was about to say.Tony took her hand and gave her a squeeze.Aly did the same.Jaime smiled at their encouragement and finished.
  "The reason is,I'm dying.I will be dead by next month according to the doctor."They sat in silence for what seemed like forever.None of them wanted to talk because they thought that talking would shorten their time together.Finally Tony broke the dead silence,"Maybe the tests were wrong."Jaime shook her head and went on to explain that they had retaken the test so many times just to be sure.Jaime had Lukemia and it had gone unnoticed and untreated for so long that there was almost no hope.Jaime was going to be dead soon and that was the final say in the matter.They went to Jaime's home and sat with her mom to get the whole story accross to Tony&Aly.They discussed options for 2 hours.Friends asking what they were doing to make Jaime more comfortable,making sure they wouldn"t tell anyone,and crying.It was especially hard on Jaime's mom,seeing as how she had lost her husband to Lukemia.
  "All I want is for us to have fun for the next few weeks.We have full permission to do everything we always wanted.Bungee Jumping,Sky diving,atving in the Grand Mesa.It will be fun,OK?"Again it was silent.They agreed they would only discuss this at home and that no special treatment would be given at school.They all went to bed thinking different things about the same topic.Jaime was glad her friends were living with her until their parents were back from various places.Aly was wondering if she would be able to cope with this over the next few weeks.Jaime's mom,Vicki,was thinking the same thing as Aly.Tony was wondering if he would tell Jaime he loved her before it was too late.They had been friends for 12 years and he had loved her for 6.Every time he was going to tell her something or some guy got in the way.They were 17,she was going to die and he had to tell her soon. Aly knew so it would be OK,it would help even if she were there when he told her.Since they were gonna be toghther almost 24/7 until the time of death,it was gonna be hard to find a time to tell her but he knew she would be listening when he did....
