"I always win.Now you owe me a double scoop!Yes!"I said as Shaun got out of his car.He sighed and opened the door for me.Always the gentleman.After we got our ice cream Shaun thanked me.
"Hey thanks for forgiving me."He said,seemingly uncomfortable.
"No problem.Besides,it's hard to stay mad at you for to long."I smiled.I must have surprised him because he missed his chair,somehow falling on his face.I set down the ice cream so I wouldn't drop them while laughing;he pretended to glare at me.
"So do you really like her?Shelia,I mean?"I asked as we were eating.
"Uhhh,yeah."He said,confused.I nodded and took another bite,thinking.So he really likes her.Or he is just a really good lier.Plus he thinks I think of him as a brother.Shit!I am such an idiot.Why did I say that?To Shaun?
"Why?"His voice broke my train of thought.
"Just curious."I said.The rest of time we just ate and laughed.My ice cream some how made it into Shaun's hair and the guy behind the counter helped get it out.
As we were leaving an hour later,I tripped on the doorjamb.I fell;which pushed up my right sleeve.I hadn't noticed until I heard Shaun catch his breath.Oh,no.Not that.Why do I have to be such a klutz?What is he thinking?I thought eratically as I stood up.
"It's nothing.And old."I said quickly,turning away.He grabbed my arm.
"You didn't do that to yourself did you?"He asked.There was tons of worry reflected in his face,especially his bright green eyes.No!I said I was never going to ever again.I promised that to you.I will never hurt you like that again.It was too much for both of us.I screamed in my head;but all I could muster was a pitiful "No."
"Who did this to you,Cici?"He asked,holding my arm tightly.
"I can't."I wrenched my arm free and ran to my car in the pouring rain.As I looked at him through the winsheild,I saw the word "Please" frozen on his lips.I immediatly felt grateful for the rain;I started to cry as I left the nearly empty parking lot. When I reached my driveway,I killed the engine.Sitting my head back on the seat and sighing,I thought of Shaun's pained face as I left him standing there.
Just then,another car pulled up beside me and Shaun climbed out of it. He opened my door and told me to get out.I just nodded and obeyed...
