Holland Taylor(2)

NonFiction Created on 2-23-08 Views(78) Story Rating G

Holland and her family was all at her house having a good time. It was almost time for her to go to cheerleading practice. She was setting in the love seat with her grandfather, while her mom and  aunt was in the kitchen. It was required to put your hair in a ponytail(for practice). Holland hated when her aunt to do it because she pulled her hair too hard.

Holland's leg started to sting. She said  "grandpa my leg feels like it is being stung". Of course as anyone would think, he told her that her leg was asleep. She said no, that it hurt worse than that. Then she said her arm was numb. Her granfather noticed that her face was starting to draw, along with her tongue. He asked her mom and aunt to come in and look at her. Holland's aunt teases her and says " you are playing, you just dont like it when I put your ponytail in". She looks at her mom and says "mommy I am not playing".

Her face started to draw badly, and she could not talk. They rushed her to the hospital. By the time they got there Holland had started to go into convolsions. All air units were busy so they had to get one from Pitsburg,Pa.(we live in WV)

They took her in the ambulance to meet the helicopter. There they told Holland's mom that she had an anurism, and her brain was badly swelling. They deeply sedated her to try to get the swelling down. They even had to drop her body temperature low. They told her mom that the first 72 hours would be the worst.

When they reached the hospital, they put Holland into a coma, so she would not wake up and freak out. 72 hours passed and the doctors convinced her mom to get some sleep across the street at the ronald mcdonald house. The hospital called and said that she should come over. Holland had went into cardiac arrest. The doctors managed to bring her back with the paddles. By that time she was completely brain dead. Things from there on got worse. The doctors said she was going to die, and they could either let her die hooked up to the machines or take her off and let her die peacefuly. Her parents decided to let her die in peace.

I will never forget her last words. I embed them into my brain forever. Not a day goes by that I don't think of the hell her family went through. I deeply respect them all....
