“Promise.” I said, glad that this was over.

“You’re not to get up, or go over to the window, you’re still weak. You understand?”

“Yes” I whispered, my mind already thinking about walking over closer to the window. I couldn’t resist.

“I hope I can trust you Ollie. Now, are you sure you’ll be okay?”
“I’ll be fine father.”
“Hope you get better. And rest, you have to rest.”

“Yes, father.” I said, wishing that he’d hurry up now and not change his mind. He hardly ever left the house, unless there was grocery shopping to do. He hated leaving me alone. He shut the door as I listened out for the click of the lock. Nothing. I didn’t hear it, which meant that he trusted me this time. I breathed a sigh of relief. I hoped this mood change wouldn’t get any more constant.

The song on the radio carried on playing as I listened carefully, I liked the song already, wished it would last for longer.

I love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do.
I will be strong I will be faithful
'Cos I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living.
A deeper meaning.

I waited for the sounds of my fathers footsteps to stop, until I was sure that he had left the house. I couldn’t take any chances. Then, as quickly as I could I pulled my blankets of, darting over to the ledge of the window. I felt woozy and dizzy as soon as I did this, I almost felt like I was going to faint. But I was glad I did it, I needed to be closer. Closer to the outside world than ever before.

As I looked out below me, I realised that I was quite high up, it looked like a long way down to the ground. I thought about climbing out, one wrong step and I’d fall. Down, and down and down. Then splat. That would be it. But the thought didn’t scare me. If I could then I’d climb out. I’d take that chance. One last chance of seeing the world, being outside. Just one. I’d rather that then have to spend my whole eternity locked up in this old place, lost and forgotten. The place outside was extraordinary to me, it took my breath away. I couldn’t even think properly, I was too overwhelmed to. I looked at everything, every little detail. I took in everything that I could.

Like how green the leaves were on the trees. The tress were spectacular, I’d never even seen one fully before. I’d only ever heard then described in things that I’d read, It was hard imagining what they looked like. Each tree was different in its own way, there were larger ones with a lighter colour green, a darker brown of the bark. Smaller ones with flowers and fruit. Old tree’s that looked wrinkled and deformed with age . The branches twisted and bent. Some had to be years old, whilst others were younger, their leaves thriving, bursting with colour. Though one of the prettiest tress I could see was one of the smaller one’s, it stuck out differently to the others. I couldn’t see the leaves, just a lot of pink flowers. I had no idea what this tree was called. But I loved it. It seemed perfect in its own way.

And when the stars are shining brightly

In the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish
Send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry..
The tears of joy
For all the pleasure and the certainty.
That we're surrounded
By the comfort and protection of
The highest power.
In lonely hours
.

I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever,
Until the sky falls down on me...

It was here, looking at this tree, listening to the music playing in the background, that I saw her. Tina. The girl that would change everything. The person that would change my life forever. This was the day that changed my life forever. The day I decided to do something I’d never done before. To go outside.

onaipwolf It's a good chapter, though hard to read. It does seem a little weird that his father has so many different kinds of trees right outside his house. But I suppose he is a little strange. :)
