Chapter Six

Seth. I’m back with Seth. Then why am I thinking of Ian so much? Maybe taking Seth back was a bad idea. Maybe letting Ian get to me was a bad idea. I shake my head in frustration. I don’t know if I could trust Seth again after what he did. I shake my head again sitting up. I’m not ever letting that memory invade my mind like it used to do…

My cell phone started to ring, I sighed jumping off my bed and practically tripped over to my desk. I snapped my cell phone open without even looking at the caller I.D. “Hello?”

“Hi Melanie!” chirped a familiar voice from the other line. I sighed, just Lucy. “Hi Luc,” I said. “What are you calling for?” I asked. I sensed a note of disappointment in my voice. Why would I be disappointed? I shook my head clearing my thoughts.

“Want to come over for a sleep over?” Lucy asked, she didn’t even hide her excitement at all. “I could give you a total make-over!” she squealed.

“Mmm… tempting,” I said rolling my eyes. “but my hairs a mess and I’m already in P.js,” I explained. “And I’m not walking outside at night,” I laughed. “It’s dangerous, you know?!”

Lucy laughed with me. “Come on!” she begged. “It’s only a couple yards and you’ll have fun!” Lucy gushed.

It was very tempting. “Okay,” I sighed in defeat. Lucy squealed in triumph. “See you in five minutes,” I snapped the phone shut without letting Lucy say bye, she already won anyway.

I scanned my closet grabbing my blue American Eagle T and my jean Capri’s. Where’s my book bag? I spun a full circle before seeing it under my bed, I quickly grabbed it and threw my clothes into it before running into the bathroom and throwing my toothbrush into the bag.

Good got everything. I ran down the stairs and slammed into Justin. “Whoa! Slow down kiddo!” he said with his strong accent. He helped me off the ground while I rubbed my head. Do I have to run into everyone?

“Can I go to Lucy’s? She begged me to sleep-over,” I blurted.

Justin laughed. “Okay,” he said then glanced at his watch. “Be careful outside though, its 10:30,”

“’Kay! I promise!” I said jumping up then running out the door. The crisp clear night air hit me like a wall. I breathed in deeply catch my breath as I jogged to Lucy’s front door

I looked up to see the twinkling stars looking at me too. I sighed made a fist and knocked on the polished oak door. The door opened five minutes later while I froze my butt off. It was cold! I opened my mouth then snapped it shut. I was going to say a snappy comment about leaving guests outside to freeze when I looked who really opened the door, Ian.

“What do you want?” he asked coldly. I looked into his yes, they were like blue fire blazing brightly with rage. I closed my eyes and sighed. Better get this over with.

I opened my eyes. “Why are you so mad at me?” I asked. I looked into his surprised face. “Did I do something?” I asked tearing my gaze from his face and looked at his crossed arms. I was truly afraid of the answer.

Ian sighed. “No,” I looked up to see his face twisted in pain. “I did something wrong,” he gazed at me, his beautiful eyes full of pain. I wanted so bad to reach out and hug him but I knew what his reaction would be; he would push me off and slam the door in my face. I opened my mouth to say something but Ian held his hand up. “I shouldn’t have said those thing and I was mean to you and if you forgive me I’ll be your slave for eternity,” his pained face laughed going back to it’s normally cheery expression but his eyes were still pained so I knew the laugh was false.

“Why, Ian?” I asked. Ian’s expression changed; it was unreadable. “I could have handled Seth and you don’t need to protect me or anything. The only people you should protect are your family and your girlfriend. Not me, a girl you met the day before,” I stated staring into his eye.

Ian made his face blank, not showing any expression. “I’m not going to tell you,” he said coldly. Damn! I just ruined any chance of friendship with him ever again!

“Where’s Lucy’s room?” I asked my voice just as cold.

“Up the stair first door on the left,” he answered in the same voice.

“Thanks,” I sneered pushing past him.

I quickly ran up stairs without looking around like I normally would and barged into Lucy's room without knocking.

"Hey chicka!" Lucy shouted and came over and hugged me. "What do you want to do?" she asked.

I sighed throwing my bag over to the corner of Lucy's room and leaped onto her bed. "I dunnno," I said looking around. Lucy walls were this briliant shad eof aquamarine, her carpet was pure whitr and she had a huge mirrior across from her bed. I stared at my reflaction, my hair was going everywere and my P.j. shrit was on backword and Ian saw me like this, ugh.

Lucy snuggled in next to me. "Mmmm... Well I've been wondering why you came to Dunlap?" Lucy asked looking at me straight in the eye.

I looked around the room making sure we were alone, I know that sounded silly but I needed the reasurence. "Can you keep a secret? " I asked, my eyes pleading to God she could. She nodded. I took a deep breath. "Excuse me,this is a difficult subject for me," I admitted praying she would change her mind.

Unfortunately she said,"Take all the time you need."

I sighed. "Well you know Seth darrington, right?" Lucy nodded. Ian probablly told her. "Well, we kinda... did it," I hesitated.

Lucy's mouth dropped wide open."You did not!" she yelled. "OMG! What was it like?"

"Shh!"I hissed. "Shove it! I don't want Ian or Mathew knowing! Who knows who they would tell! And what your parent would think of me if they found out! I haven''t even met them yet!" I half whisper/half shouted. Lucy nodded and pretended to zip her lips shut. "Stop it!" I giggled. Lucy signled for me to go on. "And I got pregnant and Seth left me," I explained. "it really tore me apart," I could fell the memories creeping back to me and for the first time in two years I let them invade my mind. "It all happened 2 years ago when I just turned 15 and Seth was 17...

"Please Mel," Seth begged. He had been begging for us to have sex for three mounth now, and I was caving. We were sitting on his bed while his parent were visting friends in Forks, wherever that was. "We'll be extra careful!"

I knew I was caving, I just couldn't say 'No' to those gorgeaus brown eyes. "But people will talk," I tryed. What a lame excuse. I did want to do it too but I wasn't ready, yet.

Seth hugged me. "People will always talk, might as well give them somthing to talk about," he whispered into my ear. His hot breath in my ear made me cave even more. "And if you want to keep it between you and me, that's fine with me,"

"Okay," I had said. That's when I caved and I remembered it was painful.

3 weeks later...

"Seth," I said sitting on the very same bed three weeks later. He looked up from my hand that he held drawing random pictures with his thumb. "I've got somthing to tell you..."

He smiled, I couldn't help but smile too. "You can tell me anything, Melanie," he answered. I thought he loved me when he said that.

"Remember what we did a couple of weeks ago..." I started.

"That was great! Wasn't it?" I nodded. More painful then great, though.

"Yeah about that...I'm pregnant," I blurted it out.

Seth stared at me like I was an alein. He breathed in."GET OUT OF HERE AND DON"T EVER TALK TO ME AGAIN!"

Then I jumped up shocked he had yelled at me and ran all the 4 blocks home,"

"Melanie?" Lucy was hugging me now. I felt the tears slide down my cheeks and my eyes puffing up. "Are you alright?" Lucy moaned. "This is all my fault! I should've asked. I should've minded my own buisness!" she wailed.

"No," I sniffeled. "I'm fine, talking accaully felt good and I should've have bottled up those memories any way," It really did feel good having telling Lucy about the painful memories.

"Let's get some sleep and I'll knock some sence into in the morning," Lucy stated. I nodded whipping the tears away.

Who was I to know what was going to happen that night and what would wake me up...
