Chapter Four
Recap: “Melanie! Are you okay!” a deep voice asked. No, no! Not now! I would know that voice anywhere. “Seth,” I murmur in shock.
“Leave me alone!” I roared. I could fell hot tears threatening to break through my eyelids. I didn’t want Ian to meet Seth. I don’t want to explain the things he did, I shuttered.
“But I can’t get you off my mind,” he quoted off a song we sang together. A million memories flooded into my mind, laying in the bed of an old Chevy counting the stars on a cool May night, running hand in hand over a dock and splashing in the lake at sunset and dancing in the bed of a two-ton ford to all my favorite songs on a CD he made me.
He was on the ground next to me now. Smiling with the smile he knew I couldn’t resist, he didn’t fight fair. “Pease Melanie, I’m sor-“ he started.
“Who the hell is he!” Ian was all of the sudden pulling me up and pulling me behind him. I peeked around Ian’s elbow; Seth was standing maybe three feet away.I really looked at Seth, his face was twisted in rage, jaw clenched, brown eyes blazing and his muscles were tense. Oh great, a fight was about to break out.
I stood on my tiptoes to reach Ian’s ear. “He’s fine, Ian. I know who he is, he’s umm… my ex-boyfriend,” I whispered under my breath. Ian’s shoulders tensed at my last words. I tried to walk around Ian but he put his arm up to block me. “Ian, cut it out. This isn’t funny,” I hissed. He just starred at me with his bluish/gray eyes. I breathed in and out. For some weird unnatural reason I wanted to talk to the man that hurt me so much. I think Ian can see right though me.
“Your not ready,” he pointed out. How did he know? How in the hell would he know that?
I stuck my nose in the air. “I don’t know what your talking about!” I lied, not looking him in the eyes that would surely give it away.
“Look me in the eyes and say it!” he growled. I keep my gaze down stubbornly. “See you can’t,” he sneered. I wanted to cry so bad now; I could fell the terrible salty things trying to escape their prison. Instead I stomped away toward Lucy.
I started walking when I knew for sure Ian was talking to Seth and as soon as I reached Lucy I broke down. The salty traders rolled from my eyes nonstop and slid down my rosy cheeks. Lucy opened up her arms to me; I just fell into them crying my brains out. Why did Ian have to be so mean? More important why was Seth here? Even after I screamed at him for two hours straight? After what he did…
Lucy broke my train of thought. “Do you want to go home?” she asked, her eyes told me she was concerned. I nodded. I don’t deserve Lucy. Lucy let me cling on to her as we walked to her car. Lucy helped me into her car; I tried to stop crying with no success.
“It’s okay, Mel,” Lucy soothed as she drove my idiotic self and me. “Ian’s a jerk and he always does that,” Lucy sighed. “Really, he has a gift to hurt people with words, sometimes he doesn’t mean too and hurt people.”
“Please,” I begged through broken sobs. “Please don’t talk a-a-about Ian or-r-r Seth,” Lucy shut her mouth searching for a new topic of conversation.
“Mmm… want to know what would be so cool?” Lucy asked eyeing me.
I had stopped crying, thank God! “What?” I ask. I’m truly curious at what Lucy was planning.
“If I can you a job at the Espresso Stand,” Lucy smiled a ‘You-Have-To-If-I-Can’ grins at me.
“Do you work there?” I asked. Lucy nodded. “Then I’m all in!” I exclaim. Anything to get away from Ian during the day. I have a plan now to avoid him. If Ian wasn’t going to let me talk to Seth when I wanted too then he isn’t going to see me.
We arrived at Becca’s house five minutes later. “Thanks Lucy!” I smiled. “For everything,” I added.
“Your more then welcome! I need your number so then I give my boss your number,” Lucy explained.
“Okay,” I said and gave her my number then ran into the house and up the stairs and leaped head first into my bed.
i want to know why ian did that and i want to know what seth did and why he's back looking for her and i want idk, they should all get to be really close friends, except michelle i dont like her.lol. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
