Chapter Three
(Sorry it took so long, writers block at the worst time and on my profile the charters picture’s are posted hope you enjoy)
I quickly turned around so Ian wouldn’t see the shock on my face. He had a girlfriend and he was flirting with me! I know it was just a wink but it meant something, at least to me.
“Hi Melanie!’ I heard an all too familiar voice that shouldn’t be familiar after one conversation. Crap! Why me? I thought as I slowly turned to face Ian and the girl. She was very pretty; she was a dark brunette with bangs that was just past her amazing hazel eyes. Her dark tan was honey colored somehow and it looked great with her hourglass figure. Man, does every girl have the same figure here?
“Hey,” I said trying to hide my disappointment and shock, it didn’t work.
Ian’s beautiful grayish/bluish eyes changed from cheery to confused to concern in 5 seconds. “Are you alright?” he asked studying my face closely. An idea sparked in my brain, one that I could find out the information I wanted and to get Ian away from that slut. Wait; did I just call her a slut in my mind when I don’t even know her? Oh my God, I’m in too deep already.
“I feel woozy,” I lied thinking of a gun being pointed at me by a dark stranger.
“Yeah you look pale,” Ian let go of that girl’s hand and walked the 3 feet in between us and grabbed my hand with one hand and putting the other on my forehead. My heart soared at his touch; my hand and forehead tingled where his hands were. “Your kind of hot,” he murmured taking his hand off of my forehead, I wanted to tell him to leave his hand there but that would sound a little weird. 9 “Do you know where the bathroom is?” I asked in a weak voice. He nodded leading me toward the grocery store that was letting the church use their parking lot, which was a little ways away. “Distract me so I won’t barf all over you,” I smiled weakly still thinking of that gun.
“Sure,” he said. He kept glancing at me out of the corner of his eyes unable to look forward because he was that concerned for me! “How?” he questioned a few seconds later.
“Just talk,” I answered simply. He didn’t say anything for a while. “Need help?” I prompted. He just nodded. “Mmmm…. is that girl you were with earlier your girlfriend?” I asked trying to sound as casual as possible. I was really hopeful, maybe too hopeful. I couldn’t breath, yep too hopeful.
He smiled. “Yeah, she’s great,” he answered. My heart stopped. His girlfriend! I felt a rush of emotions rush through my veins, betrayal, sadness, fear, anger and most of all jealously.
“Oh,” I said with a little too much edge. Now I hate that girl.
He stopped and tugged my hand so I would face him, only my body faced him I turned my head looking at the building, I couldn’t bear to look into those gorgeous eyes. He let go of my hand, I wanted to growl in protest, even if I didn’t want him to look at me I wanted to hold his hand. I felt both him put both of his hands on my cheeks tugging my face gently so he can look in my eyes. “What’s wrong now?” he asks looking into my moss colored eyes burning them with his grayish blue eyes that were concerned. He cared about me.
“I’m worried,” I lied. When will the lies end? He raised an eyebrow. My eye looked down from his face to his t-shirt, it was black and had ‘The All American Rejects’ name printed across his broad chest. “I’m worried about….” I began looking around seeing a bucket full of water a smile began to threaten to break from my face as I shrugged out of his grasp. I picked up the bucket turned to see Ian confused face and questioning gaze. I stopped a foot in front of him with a wolfish grin on my full lips. “What you’ll do when I do this!” I yelled.
“Do wh-?” he began but I stopped him short by throwing the water from the bucket over his head. I threw the now empty bucket at my feet and started racing toward Lucy laughing my head off. I heard chuckling behind me and heavy running steps. “You’ll pay Clearwater!” Ian shouted, he wanted revenge. I rolled my eyes rounding the surprised Lucy and Michelle.
“What’s going on?!” Lucy demanded grabbing Ian’s arm. “And why are you wet?”
Ian was still laughing. “Mel tried to drown me,” he joked. By now I had stopped out of breath 20 yards away.
“Did not!” I protested jogging to Lucy’s other side. “I merely poured water over your head,” I said with a taunting smile.
“And I’ll merely get you soaked!” Ian yelled grabbing the hose from Lucy’s hand.
I glared at him. “You wouldn’t dare!” I backed away the tiniest bit while glaring at Ian and his smile.
“I hope that cross around your neck isn’t fake or you’ll go green,” he said. Oh, crap! I hope my silver cross isn’t fake too. Right then he turn the nozzle hitting me with a steady stream of cool water, instantly I put my hands over my face.
“Ahh! Stop it! Retard! I know where you live!” I threaten. I backed away and Ian walked forward. I couldn’t see him but I heard Ian and Mathew laughing. I turned around and started running while Ian was rolling with laughter making my escape. I ran into something hard and fell flat on my butt. I felt the stream of water vanish and heard Ian and Mathew’s running foot steps coming my way.
The bright blazing sun was blocking my view, I winced. A black figure suddenly blocked the hot summer sun leaning over me. “Melanie! Are you okay?” a deep voice asked. No no! Not now! I would know that voice anywhere, it is his voice. "Seth," I murmured in shock.
