Chapter Two
“Ian!” someone called from behind him; he turned his gorgeous head around. Damn it Melanie! You got to stop thinking like this! There is no possible way he will even like you! I scolded my self.
“Oh. Hey Lucy,” Ian said. I couldn’t help but notice the look of distaste on his face when he turned back to me and winked. I smiled what I hope a dazzling smile.
“There you are!” said ‘Lucy’ panting. She had pretty black hair that reached the small of her back that was shiny, coal glimmering black eyes, long black eyelashes, her skin was this warm tan color and she had a perfect hourglass body. I’m officially jealous.
“Yeah I was just talking to…” he raised an eyebrow with a questioning face. 9 “Melanie,” I whisper still not trusting my voice not to crack in front of these god-like people. Lucy gave me a warm smile, one that said ‘Welcome! I hope you want to be friends!’
“Welcome to Kala Bay! I hope you like it so far,” I was right. She is being too friendly, Becca set this up. I wonder how much she paid Lucy.
“Actually I only saw this neighborhood because I fell asleep in the car on the way over here,” I admitted still whispering.
Ian smiled a devilish grin. “Perfect! I can show you around,” he winked, my heart melted and Lucy frowned. Uh-oh, were they dating? I don’t want to make any enemies.
I opened my mouth to say no when Lucy cut me off by saying; “Ian, Mother wanted to talk to you, probably giving you your chore list,” Ian glared at Lucy and Lucy glared at Ian.
Ian said slowly “No, probably grounding me for-“
“Go, Ian,” Lucy cut him off with such force I winced at the loudness in her c=strained casual voice.
Ian shrugged. “Bye Melanie,” he said waving. “ I really hope to see you again,” he turned around and started jogging to the house on my left before I said bye. It hit me as soon as he left, Ian and Lucy are siblings! Yes! There was little people dancing and jumping in joy in my head. I restrained from smiling but my lips did twitch upward.
“Hi I’m Lucy,” Lucy said brightly. She glared in the direction Ian left saying “As you probably know that’s Ian.”
“Melanie,” I said shaking her extended hand and smiling, but not for the reason she thinks.
“Are you going to go to The Church tomorrow?” Lucy asked. Now I’m sure that Becca set this up, she’s probably looking through the window now, watching.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“Would you like a ride?” Lucy asked. Now I’m going to kill Becca.
“Sure,” I agreed making a mental note to talk to Justin about chaining Becca up. Does she understand that I don’t get along with other people?
“Great!” Lucy chirped. “Oh and before I go tomorrow the Teens are doing a carwash for charity instead of attending. You can do either or,”
“Carwash, defiantly,” I answered smiling. Maybe Ian would be there, I thought.
“Cool! Wear your sexiest bikini! I’ll pick you up at mmm….8,” I nodded. “See ya.”
“See ya,” I said turning and jogging up the driveway and into the olive toned door. Becca was practically bouncing everywhere.
“So did you like Lucy? Huh? Huh?” she questioned in my face. I swear to God that Justin better not let me have a knife.
“Loved her,” I said gently shoving Becca back, okay maybe not so gentle but still. “Huuuuuh!” I yawned stretching my arms. “I’m just tired, been traveling and got to get up at 7:30 to get ready for the carwash you know,” she probably did.
“You just follow me then,” Becca said starting to go up a marble stairway. I looked behind me at the living room I failed to notice with Becca’s face in mine. It had one black leather couch that could seat about eight (it was one of those 90 degree angle couches), two big comfy looking brown leather chairs facing a humongous fire place, the couch faced a 60 inch plasma with bright orange walls. Wow.
Becca lead me through a lime green hall that was covered in pictures of the sea and into my room. WOW again! It is sweet! It has midnight blue walls with little lights that looked like stars, a black carpet, a tall honey colored lamp sat in the corner instead of a ceiling light (the little lights on the wall plus the lamp made the room bright enough to read and write in), a cedar desk in the other corner, a king sized bed with a black bedspread stood next to the window on my right (desk across the room from bed) and a laptop and telephone laid on the desk, my dream room.
“Oh Becca! It’s perfect!” I squealed throwing my arms in the air hugging her.
“I’m glad you like it sweetie,” gasped Becca. She isn’t the only one with a firm grip. “You better get some sleep, Hon,” Becca suggested when I let go.
“Okay,” I said still smiling.
The Next Morning…
I emerged from a sleep of blackness to find I fell asleep clutching my pillow to my chest and fell asleep in my day clothes. I blinked looking at the clock, 7:50! Oh crap! I’m going to be late!
I jerked my duffle bag from under my bed throwing random things out, searching for my bikini and cut-offs. I found them at the very bottom of my bag, typical. I glance at my alarm clock, 7:57. I sighed in relief I am going to make it. I quickly threw my bikini on and the cut-offs and an over-sized T that said ‘Save the Whales’ in bold writing with a blue whale over my bikini and rushed down stairs only stopping to slip black flip-flops on.
I saw Lucy standing at the end of the drive facing a man who looked like Ian, my wish had come true. Ian’s coming, boo-yeah!
“Hey Lucy!” I called when I was close enough, I was actually smiling. “Hey I-“ I stopped because the guy who turned around wasn’t Ian, he looked like Ian but his eyes are the same shade of Lucy’s. I stared dumbly at both of them. I raised an eyebrow looking at the guy, “Ian? Did you have contacts or something?”
They both started cracking up. I felt like melting into a puddle and slowly inch away, God I wish I could. “I’m not Ian,” the guy said in between laughs. “I’m Mathew,” he chuckled.
“Oh. Hi then, Mathew,” I smiled, he smiled also but his smile was not at all like Ian’s. I like Ian’s better. I turned to Lucy who finally stopped laughing her head off, “Sorry I’m late probably,” I apologized.
“That’s okay we didn’t wait long,” Lucy shrugged it off and we piled into a new jeep rangler and were off.
At the Carwash…
“How many cars have we washed?” I asked hosing down a red Toyota truck.
Lucy shrugged. “’Bout five or six,” she was standing beside me in between Mathew and me. “Oh look!” Lucy squealed in delight. “Her come Ian and Michelle,” my ears pricked up at his name. Oh god I’m already obsessing over a boy what’s wrong with me?
“Where?” I ask as casually as I could.
"Over there," said Lucy pointing over my shoulder. I quickly turned my head to see Ian holding hands with a girl walking towards us.
