1. Mike had messed up seriously and he knew it. But he also knew it wasn’t entirely fault, Keri had a way about him, or a hold over him that got him in trouble. He loved her didn’t she see that?  Why did she do everything in her power to make his life miserable? She was either trying to get him in trouble, or she was so stupid she didn’t realize what she did had an affect how he would react.
2. If she dressed inappropriately, it caused a scene and he was forced to act just as inappropriately. Any man would if it were their girl doing who knows what.
3. Not only that, but he had a right to defend himself against anyone attacking him, even if they were her neighbors. No one could blame him. They were notorious for their behavior. If he didn’t set boundaries and enforce them once in awhile, the bastards would think they could get away with it.
4. Mike shook his head and turned his car right onto her street. He was working himself up again and it had taken him forever to calm down last time. But every time he thought of Kylie making him look so weak in front of the Stevens’, and dressed in next to nothing…. He sucked in a deep breath and counted to ten. He would have to remind her that his girl would not be seen in anything that he deemed inappropriate.
5. He pulled his car up in front of her house and took his time collecting the flowers and chocolates he had brought. He hated always being the one to apologize, but Keri didn’t get it yet how wrong she had been. Damn it she never knew. This would be the last time, he would calmly go in and explain to her what happened, make sure it never happened again, and she would know she was in the wrong.
6. He knocked on the front door and waited until it opened. Mike plastered a fake smile on his face when he saw Mrs. Dawson standing there. “Oh, hi Mrs. Dawson.”
7. “Hello Mike.” She said coolly.
8. “I didn’t know you and Mr. Dawson were back from this last business trip.” He said as he stepped past her in the door. It was a tricky move as Mrs. Dawson didn’t move to let him in.
9. “Yes,” she sighed, finally letting the door close behind him. “But just for a short while. I assume you’re here to see Keri?” She said pointing to the gifts. When he nodded she continued, “I don’t think she is here but if you want you can put those in her room for her.”
10. “Thanks Mrs. D. I know it’s late, I won’t take long.” He bounded up the stairs two at a time and knocked on Keri’s door. No answer. Great he thought, this is perfect, I’ll apologize on paper and not have to say it, get it over with without being here.
11. He opened the door and flipped on the light. Her room was empty except for the pile of photography books on the bed indicating she had indeed been there at some point that day. He turned to her dresser intending to put the flowers down but it was covered in papers. As Mike moved to make room for the flowers, he saw what they were and dropped the chocolates, scattering them over the floor.
12. How to care for you and baby… What can I expect in the first trimester… a prescription for prenatal vitamins? Pregnant? Keri? Mike looked at the script in his hand, it was dated yesterday.
13. Everything here, all these papers, were on pregnancy. Doctor’s notes and visit forms dating back three weeks. He started to imagine everything else she must be hiding. He was going to be a dad! How much more important can news get and she wasn’t going to tell him!! Unless… Unless it wasn’t his.
14. In his mind, Mike started making connections with her weight gain, her attitude change towards him. She had been stubborn and avoiding him. She had been cheating on him! His face flushed red as the anger boiled up inside him. He threw the flowers across the room and started knocking everything off her shelves in a temper tantrum.
15. Keri cheated on him! She was that stupid and even stupider to have gotten pregnant and caught. The bitch! He wanted to scream but was too angry. He would show her. She would not get the last say in this!
