CHAPTER 1 Ugh… Sarah said as the car approached the dark and dreary gates. Why me she thought to herself. Out of all people why did her mom and dad have to get divorced? They could of worked through there problems. So what her Dad made one little mistake and the next thing you know her mom had packed there bags and left. Now Sarah and her mom were sitting out front there new home in Bayton, Florida.
Her mom pressed a button and the gates started to open revealing a beautiful large white house with white pillars and a grand light blue front door. There were almost 20 windows with exquisite light blue panes. Sarah couldn’t believe her eyes. She new her mom’s side of the family had given them a house but didn’t expect it to be so…. beautiful. She had never seen a house like this in California where she used to live. “Isn’t it beautiful” Sarah’s mom exclaimed as she drove through the gate and parked the car. “You know I used to live here when I was a kid and it hasn’t changed a bit”. Then she got out of the car got a key out of her bag and disappeared into the house.
After a few minutes of silence Sarah summed up her courage, slowly opened the car door and followed in after her mom. When inside Sarah just stood there speechless taking in the surroundings around her. There was a grand piano, large chandeliers, and beautifully carved mahogany tables. Then her mom quickly appeared from another door way and said “We should start unpacking before it gets too dark” .So all that evening they spent unpacking in silence except for the few orders Sarah was instructed.
As the clock stroke midnight Sarah awoke startled in her new bed. Slowly she remembered of her previous adventure earlier that night. “That’s right“she spoke “We moved here yesterday” suddenly she heard a noise down stairs scarring her half to death. Cautiously she climbed out of bed and crept downstairs. Bam!! The noise came again from the kitchen. Then she heard her mom mumbling and entered the kitchen. Her mom looked up. She was standing at the stove cooking grilled cheese. “Sit down and eat with me” her mom said. Sarah just sat down at the table without a word. Then her mom came over and set a grilled cheese in front of her. Sarah hadn’t noticed but she was starving, she hadn’t eaten all day. Her mom sat right across from her and began eating. Knowing it was pointless to cause a temper tantrum, she ate her sandwich.
“Look I know you didn’t want to move away from all of your friends, but I couldn’t take your father anymore. All there ever was with him was silence!!!! It felt like we were two different people with different plans for our life” Sarah’s mom cried. Out of natural instinct Sarah got up and embraced her mother and they cried together. “I’m sorry Mom I didn’t fully understand the situation and blamed everything on you. I knew you and Dad were having problems and I knew you were both unhappy, but we can work through this and continue living a normal life here” Sarah wept.
They stayed up in the early hours of the morning talking and laughing about what would happen next in the new life. Sarah was so relieved they had finally resolved there problems and they both went to bed with a sense of satisfaction. Now they were back to the way things were.
