The Unheard Ch 3

Chapter 3
"Hey Mom!" Ana called over the loud music, coming from her little brother's room. His name was Tim. He was about thirteen years old, even though they all called him Baby Tim. He hated it, but never really complained.
"Yeah?" the sound of her mother's voice came from the kitchen. She was doing laundry when Ana walked in. She was a tall beautiful woman with long golden colored hair that reminded Ana of the sand at the beach, when the sun hit it just right. Ana was always jealous of her mother’s good looks. She envied her from her head to her toes.
"Hey, umm, I am going over to the elementary school tonight to watch Tina sing her heart out. I was wondering if you and Tim wanted to come with me."
"Oh geeze Ana. Do you think that I have TIME for things like that? I have to do so much today that I think I'm going to pull my hair out! And on top of that, none of these bills are being paid! While you are out with your little friends, I have to stay here and clean this damn house. I don’t even want to look at you. Get out of my kitchen and go get a job. Come back when you can pull your own weight around this place!"
Ana didn't say anything, this had been her mother's fifth out burst since her father had passed. With the passing of each one, Ana's worries for her mother's health had increased. She doesn't even seem like she has been eating. And she has been so irritable, it was hard to remember the kind woman that she once been. Ana loved her mother regardless, but it was hard to be around her because she always had something to complain about or something to yell about.
"Hey Tim?" Ana said when she walked into his room. He was blasting his favorite heavy metal CD, while he sat in front of the computer, his fingers typing furiously. The loud music rang in her ears as she made her way over to his stereo to turn the volume down. He hadn't noticed her come into his room and was still typing and staring at the computer screen. Right before she placed her hands upon the stereo system, he stopped what he was doing and turned his chair.
"What do you want?" He yelled over the music pouring from his speakers, then got up and turned the stereo off. "Well?" he asked.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go with me tonight. I will be hanging out with Jon and Jenny. We are going to the Elementary school to watch the 'Beautiful one' sing." Tim didn't say anything for a while. Then he spoke in a hushed tone.
"She’s not going anywhere tonight, is she?" Ana knew that he was referring to her mother. And she shook her head slowly.
"I don't think so. She doesn't seem like she is in too great a mood. You might not want to hang around. I think I am going to stay the night at Jenny's tonight, and I don't think Jon would mind if you asked him. Plus, we still be going out for dinner. Don't worry, it’s my treat. Feel like stretching out your legs?"
"I think so. But I sorta' want to just hang around here, but if she isn't leaving, then yeah. I guess I'll go. But tell Jenny that she can't be hanging on to me. I don't like that." A smile had spread across his face and a smirk hid in the corner of that smile.
"Oh, I don't think that she will have any objections to that!"
