The unheard Ch2. pt 2
|
"What are you doing here?" Jon asked the tall man that stood in front of the main office. He was Jon's father, but the word had no truth to it in Jon's opinion.
"I just swung by to tell you that I'm leaving to LA. I have to go and take care of some business. I will only be gone for a few days. He was wearing a leather jacket, and Jon knew that he had brought the bike to the school instead of the truck. He was going to be gone for a couple of weeks, regardless of how long he claimed he was going to be gone.
"Is that all you came to say?" He asked, knowing that there was another reason behind it all. "I mean, I know that's not the only reason that you came all the way to the school. You could have just called me. That would have been a lot easier, don't you think?" The man seemed uncomfortable, standing right outside the office.
"Actually, my phone was turned off. But I need you to pick up your sister after school." Jon just laughed at the comment.
"Well, umm, actually you wasted your time coming here because no one is picking her up after school, she has her concert, remember, or maybe you wouldn't, because you are never around to notice anything. Anyway, I have to go back to class, you are wasting my time. I have things that I need to do. See you around Jim."
Jon walked back to the classroom, but not before stopping in front of Jenny's second period first. He wanted to say hi as he passed.
When he turned down the hall, he saw Ana, standing at the water fountain getting a drink of water. Quickly, he debated whether he should call her or not. But she turned around right before he was about to leave, and caught sight of him.
"Hey. Jon." She said through soft whispers, so that Mr.Anderson would not hear her talking in the hall. To Jon's surprise, she walked up to him and hugged him tightly. It was wierd to him because she was acting like what happened this summer had never happened at all. Like everything was okay, and like they were as close as they were before. After she hugged him, she looked him straight in the eye and gave a weak smile. All he wanted to do was hold her and embrace her, but he knew that it wasn't his place.
"I am really going to try to make it to Tina's Concert, I promise I will try." She said smiling. He nodded and smiled back. He had to restrain himself from reaching out to her. She was so perfect.
"Go back to class so you don't get in trouble.” He whispered to her. She smiled.
"I think I already did." she whispered back. He said goodbye and walked back to his second period class, forgetting the whole reason that he had gone to that hall in the first place. He walked down the hall with a smile on his face, but he still couldn't stop thinking about how Ana looked, how sad she seemed.
