Chapter 2
Jon sat in his Pre Cal. class in the back of the room. He sat quietly, still thinking about Ana. This summer he had learned so much about her that he had never really known, or would have suspected. Ana's family was falling apart, and her current boyfriend wasn't really helping the situation, it was just another person for Ana to have to worry about. It made Jon angry that Danny was part of Ana's life, and just took advantage of it all the time. How could she end up with a loser like him? She is worth way more! He thought she was so beautiful and just full of life, it was hard not to want to be her friend. She was so friendly, but lately she seemed so distant and aloof that Jon was really worring about her. Even Jenny had said that she noticed something different about Ana. Jon just hoped that what happened this summer had nothing to do with the way that she was acting, even though he had no doubt that it didn't have some drastic effect upon her. He could not believe for the longest time what had happened. He couldn't have done what he did. After all, all he wanted for her was for her to be happy, so why would he do something that would change their friendship forever? It just was the stupidest thing that he could have done!! He just hated the fact that he had-
"Jon?" His teacher walked up to his desk and set a paper upon his desk. It was a call slip to the office. "Go ahead and go now, before we really get started. I will have another student take notes for you if you don't get back soon. " She had a really nice smile, and soft blue eyes. Jon stepped out of his seat and walked over to the front office.
Ana knew that Jenny was staring at her through the corner of her eye. She felt bad that her friends were forced to deal with her in her weird state. Ana looked up at Jenny and smiled warmly. Sensing her, Jenny looked up also and smiled back.
"Hey! So are you going to Tina's concert tonight?" she looked hopeful. Ana did not want to break her friends hopes but she felt like she wasn't ready to spend that much time in the same room as Jon.
"Umm, I don' know. I have to see if my mom is going to be home to watch Baby Tim. If she's not, I might go." Ana felt bad for making excuses about not going, she already knew that her mother was going to be home, but she did not want to give a straight answer so soon.
"You know, You are going to have to talk to him sooner or later, Ana. He is human. I don't intend to sound mean, but I really think that you two need to talk. I promised to stay out of it but I can't stay silent for so long. I'm don't really even know what is going on, but it seems to throw you out of groove. I just want my friend back."
Ana didn't really know what to say, other than she already knew what she needed to do. The only problem is that she doesn't know how to do it. She decided that she would do something about it soon. Maybe at the concert. Maybe.
"Miss Ana," said the tall male teacher at the front of the room. "Are you ready to learn Economics?"
Ana looked at him with a smile. Thinking about what she would normally say in a time like this.
"Not really, Mr.Anderson. I already know all that there is to know about Economics. But you see, the only reason that I am in your class, is because all the councilors in the office are challenged and have failed to understand that I have already taken this course. So, now let me ask you, Mr.Anderson, are you ready to teach the already taught?"
He smiled at her words and gave a soft laugh. "I think that I'm ready. But, now you need to pull out a paper and pencil and write down the notes from the board, at least until those councilors stop failing to understand your point and become less challenged then they already are."
Jenny laughed and smiled at Ana. Finally, some life out of her friend.Comments
