Chapter1

"Hey, Ana!" Jenny called over the hustle and bustle of all the students walking through the hall. It was the first day of school and they were now seniors. The word ran through Jenny's mind like it was a wild animal just escaped from the zoo. Seniors. The time had finally come. She was especially excited because now she was seventeen, almost old enough to do all the things that she wanted to.

Ana still hadn't turned around, but was walking away at a fast pace. "Hey!" Jenny called after her, "Wait up!" Finally Ana turned at the sound of her friends voice.

"Hi." she said with a light smile on her lips. "Whats up?" Jenny walked faster to catch up with her, slipping in between the crowd. When she arrived before Ana, she tilted her head and had a soft look of concern upon her face.

"Is every thing okay?" Jenny knew that Ana had some problems at home, with her mother and brother. But she didnt think that Ana's quietness had anything to do with this.

"Its, nothing. Just that Danny keeps acting strange." Jenny was right. Danny was Ana's on-and-off boyfriend, the type that seemed to show up then leave. He was slightly built with dark brown hair that hung down over his ears, and almost brushed his shoulders. Of course he was a skate boarder, with that desire to break all the rules, and push each limit to its furthest.

"What kind of strange?" Jenny asked. Ana just shook her head and looked down at the floor.

"Its nothing, I think I'm just over reacting. So, how was the family birthday, slash barbeque thing?" She seemed to push her thoughts aside for the moment, but Jenny knew that she was still worried, no matter what she said.

"It was a lot of, well, it was really boring. You know, a bunch of old people come over and talk about where I am going to college, planning my future for me and talking about what I am going to do with the rest of my life. The usual." They walked over to the the lunch tables, and sat down. It was about seven thirty, and the first bell was about to ring.

"Well, it sounds like fun." Ana said unenthusiastically. She looked around and then began to stand. "Well, I have to go. I need to go to the guidance center. See ya." Grabbing her back pack, she turned around and started walking in the direction of the closest hall way.

"Okay, see you at lunch Ana!" Jenny called to her. Ana lifted her hand in the air to signal that she heard as she walked away. As she watched her friend leave, she thought about what a good beginning to a story that would be. She walked away with her back turned into a new year, into a new beginning, and into the future. The first day of the future.

Jenny was always thinking about possible story ideas, though she was working on something right now, she was always up for new ideas, and also exercising her imagination. She pulled out a new college ruled notebook and a pen. She really didn't like to start new notebooks because she didnt want to mess up on the new pages, or smear the cover. But her mom had bought her about five new notebooks, so she really didnt mind having to start in this one. She wrote for about five minutes before the bell rang, then she had to go to her assigned classroom, to pick up her classs schedule for the first term if the year.

A little bit later, Jenny ran into an old friend that she had known since fifth grade. His name was Jon. He was in her definition a little quarkie, but still a lot of fun to hang out with. He was the one who had introduced her to Mike. Her now boyfriend. Her friends had really liked him and her mom was practically mad about him. It was amazing to Jenny that they all got along so well. Like it was all meant to be the way it was. She wished she could live each day like today
